So, we’ve had yet another episode where nobody went home. How many episodes do they have for Drag Race Mexico? Anyways, Matraka already has three wins, putting her right in the front beside Cristian Peralta. Is this going to be our Final 2? We shall see! If we ever get there because for all I know no one gets eliminated in this episode again.
The still five remaining queens don’t even have time to do the customary chitchat before the alarm bells ring. Or at least that’s how it felt to me because I feel like even they’re tired of the constant saves. Regina Voce’s even worried there’s going to be a double elimination because no one went home the previous episode!
Once the — well I still don’t know how to call it but the Mexican equivalent of RuMail arrives, the queens quickly figure out that they’re going to do a roast this episode. Seeing as it was Margaret Y Ya who actually shined during the episode featuring the reading challenge, I do not have high hopes of any of these girls performing well. But I am hoping to be surprised!
The mini challenge is the puppet challenge, and the queens are at least more receptive to it than Mami Watta from Drag Race France. My eyebrows did go all the way up when Gala Vaaro said she’s been another man’s puppet before and I am all *chin hands* “Tell me more!”
I am also happy that Lolita and Valentina call out Gala Varo’s balls because honestly. They’ve been on display on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS on the Main Stage! It’s the meatiest of meaty tucks, if she even tucks!
The challenge starts and Cristian stumbles, which I think is just to humanize her and not an actual sign she’s getting eliminated. Like I said, I feel like they’re gearing up for a Cristian-Matraka showdown and this is to keep audiences on their toes.
I particularly like Matraka’s puppet performance because she actually had the Gala Varo puppet’s ball out the fuck. H I L A R I O U S. Also maybe I am a little bias because I think Matraka’s really hot? Like I would not mind watching Matraka and Gala Varo go at it if you know what I mean wink wink nudge nudge.
I also LAUGHED at Matraka’s face when Valentina announced that Regina Voce won the mini challenge alongside Matraka. She was gagged, gooped, Jan’d!
ANYWAY, Matraka and Regina get to decide the order of the roast and they put Gala first, then Regina and Matraka. Lady Kero and Cristian Peralta are fourth and fifth, respectively. The queens then run their comedy routines past Lolita and Valentina and Matraka’s spot in the finals isn’t looking too good. Lady Kero seems like she’s a hit, but I have to admit that maybe the translation is shit because I did not get the jokes.
As they prepare for the Main Stage the queens talk about their relationships…or lack thereof. Matraka is in one, while Gala Varo confesses that it’s been hard for him to get into a relationship ever since he started drag. And not for the reason I thought! A boyfriend once told her that he preferred the character of Gala over her, which led to resentment on her part. I hope the pronouns are making sense English isn’t my first language!
Okay, this may just be a translation issue or a lack of knowledge on my part regarding the cultural nuances of the jokes, but I didn’t find most of them laugh out loud funny? Cristian Peralta seemed to be the only one to really have a good set. Matraka got some laughs from me but it’s because old person jokes are broad enough. Lady Kero, in particular, crashes and burns.
It really seems like it’s a translation issue because once the critiques start, it seems like Regina didn’t do so bad and was actually funny and that Matraka was the one who didn’t perform as well as she could have. Lady Kero, unfortunately, was not funny in translation and still wasn’t funny even to the native Spanish speakers.
Cristian Peralta wins this challenge which I absolutely agree with because I actually found her funny despite what I assume are not the best translations. So now she has four wins and is looking to be the eventual winner of the season unless there is very strong social media support for Matraka.
Lady Kero and Gala Varo end up in the bottom and I have to say this is one of the better lip syncs this season and not one split was made! I could really feel the emotion of the song even if I couldn’t understand a word of it!
After all is said and done, Lady Kero finally bids goodbye and now we have a top four!
