Given everything that happened in the previous episode, you can’t blame viewers if they’re really curious to see what’s going to be the aftermath. But will they even have time to really dig into everything else that happened the previous week, considering that this episode is the Snatch Game episode?
We shall see!
The queens arrive back at the Werk Room after Arizona Brandy sent Tiny Deluxe home after that crazy lip sync and Arizona isn’t letting up with the comedy. Her comedy is just so of the moment and current that it’s really hard not to root for her.
I mean she licked the freaking floor! Corazon’s barangayan lip sync found dead!
But despite Arizona and OV doing their best to be funny, the tension between Captivating Katkat and M1ss Jade So is still so thick, especially after that fight in Untucked.
Veruschka Levels — and I’m going to be very honest here I do not like her at all — is also not enjoying the awkwardness, especially since she just won and she wants to celebrate. The fact that the awkwardness stemmed from her being a shit stirrer is a detail that she completely leaves out.
The next day, the girls all have their own schticks upon entering the Werk Room and can I just say the lack of coordination is a refreshing break from the clearly rehearsed entrances in Drag Race Mexico and Drag Race France? I know this show is produced but that little thing makes it feel a little more “real”.
Katkat brings up her outburst during the previous episode and apologizes for it, while M1ss Jade So rightfully points out that whatever she was feeling, it was for her to bring it up to Katkat and Veruschka had no right to be stirring the shit. Veruschka, however, thinks that they should be thanking her instead because if it wasn’t for her, the “problem” wouldn’t be “solved”.
To be fair to Veruschka — I am gagging (not in a good way!) just typing that — Katkat and M1ss Jade So don’t seem to intent on fixing the issue either as Katkat seems intent on shadily dismissing M1ss Jade’s concerns and M1ss Jade seems too timid to actually clearly articulate what her concerns are.
Either way, Katkat and M1ss Jade So seem to work it out in the end, answering my question at the very start of this post. And right on time, they receive the RuMail that tells them that this week’s Maxi challenge is Snatch Game.
This is only the second Snatch Game ever in Drag Race Philippines, so the queens have a very low bar to clear. Last season’s Snatch Game didn’t get the best editing, but we did get great performances from Eva La Queen and Marina Summers!
Before they get to Snatch Game though, Mawma Pao tells them that they have to Tinikling for their Life first. Why do they have a mini challenge before Snatch Game? Don’t have an answer to that, especially since what possible advantage could you give to the queen who wins this mini challenge?
The queens are asked to dress up in Balintawaks and the world of difference between Bernie and M1ss Jade So’s Balintawaks is a hoot. How are you going to dance the tinikling in either one of those things?
The mini challenge is hilarious mostly because of commentary from the queens, with ØV Cünt’s jokes about Matilduh’s performance being a highlight for me. The queens scrambling to watch the Pit Crew do the tinikling so they can see his bulge bounce up and down was also hilarious.
Pao confirms that this week’s Maxi challenge is Snatch Game and also adds that the runway theme for this week is Ulam Realness. Now that is a theme that I’d like to see these girls interpret. The possibilities!
The Snatch Game starts and…guys, this doesn’t look good. Only Katkat seems to have a grasp of her character but this is just the first four of them lemme wait it out.
The next five queens don’t seem any better but Arizona Brandy’s commentary is actually funnier than what they’re showing on the stage right now. Oh good lord in heaven this is looking like it’s going to be a disaster. Jon Santos is doing the best he can to draw out the joke from the queens which really strengthens my belief that he should have been the host of the show in the first place.
As the Snatch Game goes on ØV Cünt finally finds her stride I think and starts landing some jokes but throughout the Snatch Game it’s Jon Santos and Kim Molina doing their utmost best to draw the funny out of the queens. Katkat really is the only one that seems to really know what she’s doing here. Hana Beshie and Arizona are funny, but unintentionally. It’s nothing like the wit, the banter, or the planning that Marina and Eva put into their characters. In fact, like I said earlier Arizona is wittier and funnier in her confessionals compared to her performance.
The girls have a post-mortem about their Snatch Game performance the next day and ØV Cünt and Veruschka Levels get into it. Veruschka calls ØV’s Zenaida Zeva performance boring, which is amazing coming from her abysmal Mommy Dionesia performance.
The runway happens and…I dunno these outfits aren’t hitting so good. Once again it’s Captivating Katkat that really wows. And maybe Veruschka Levels too but I will wholeheartedly admit that I am already biased against her.
Katkat wins this episode which I fully think is deserved while Veruschka, DeeDee, and Matilduh all have to Lip Sync for their lives. Deserve din naman nila to be honest!
Matilduh emerges as the clear winner and to be honest I wanted it to be a double elimination. But in the end, it’s Verushcka that gets sent home and, once again, deserve naman niya.
