As can be seen in the preview, this is the episode where Do Ha and Sol Hee will finally kiss. But what’s more interesting to me is will I finally get to learn whether Do Ha is a murderer or not? The title of the episode is “The Truth About Hakcheon Beach Case” after all.
Let’s get to it!
After escaping Eom Ho, Do Ha takes Sol Hee back to his luxurious pad and Sol Hee asks what Eom Ji was like, prompting what I am expecting is going to be a lengthy flashback.
As it turns out, Eom Ho wasn’t opposed to the pairing. In fact, he even literally pushed Eom Ji toward Do Ha/Seung Ju. And it seems like the love was real, with Do Ha even calling her his first love. But him getting accepted in a Seoul college turned out to be too much for Eom Ji and I gotta say she really is a little too needy and insecure for me! If you’re this troubled by a long-distance relationship — a long distance that can be traveled anywhere from four to 10 hours, depending on the mode of transportation you take according to Google Maps — then maybe you should have just broken up with him.
As Seung Ju’s college life demands more and more of his time, Eom Ji is unwilling to compromise which in turn leads to Seung Ju being even more stubborn, while I’m over here thinking it’s 2018 I know there’s Skype in South Korea around this time because…I have seen things. And the thing I saw was from back in 2016 so don’t give me this crap.
Anyways, when it looks like Seung Ju is going to leave her Eom Ji attempts to kill herself and I know I should be sympathetic but girl. It’s hard to sympathize with you when you’re emotionally blackmailing him!
Seung Ju succumbs to the emotional blackmail at first, explaining to Sol Hee that he thought it was because it meant she loved him so much. But then Eom Ji messages all the women Seung Ju’s ever interacted with using Seung Ju‘s phone threatening to kill them and you really can’t blame Seung Ju for breaking up with her.
We also get to find out why Do Ha/Seung Ju never lies. Just to get Eom Ji off his back, he lied to her and told her that he already liked somebody else in Seoul and Eom Ji goes on a rant listing all of the women he talked about before. LADY GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF. She really got me heated! Like I literally was screaming obscenities at the screen and I have elevated blood pressure (Thank Company I Work For for the physical exam!) so she literally could have given me a heart attack.
During a particularly heated moment, Seung Ju tells Eom Ji that if she wants to die so much then she probably should, and I think this is where he thinks that he “killed” her. Which is why it comes out as a lie when he says that he didn’t.
And I was right! We also get a scene of Seung Ju’s mother asking him to shape up in the prison since he admitted to a crime that he technically didn’t commit and I have to admit the side eye she was giving Eom Ji earlier in the flashback was absolutely deserved. Now her also saying that Seung Ju is fucking up her political plans was absolutely stupid and really no wonder your son is not on your side.
Meanwhile, Eom Ho is still out and about, as the security guard at Do Ha’s expensive place thought he was just a reporter trying to get a scoop. The guard does manage to divert Eom Ho’s attention away from Do Ha’s fancy place by mistakenly telling him that Do Ha hasn’t been there for quite some time now. Also, what kind of a brother were you that Eom Ji ended up being like that?
Back at Do Ha’s place, he’s asking Sol Hee if she can sleepover and bow chicka wow wow are we going to get sexy times? Probably not but imagine if we got a What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim thing going? You know that scene.
We don’t get that but we do get Do Ha cooking! And a shot of food which at this point in my life if someone prepared that for me I may as well consider it as the two of us having sex. Yes, I know it’s simple dishes but I am ancient and sometimes you just don’t wanna cook, okay?

They get to talking about football as they watch an El Clasico match and Sol Hee explains that the main reason she likes the game is because you can believe what you see in it and then smoothly rizzes up Do Ha by saying that he’s like football.
All of that was very cute so naturally we go back to Sol Hee’s mom and let me tell you guys I may just skip past this scene. She’s trying to find out if Sol Hee is dating Do Ha and I can already feel my blood pressure rising. This show is going to kill me! We then get a shot of Sol Hee’s father in what I assume is the present time and what?
We’re going to be getting back to that later as we see more cute things happening between Sol Hee and Do Ha. Sol Hee makes an offhand remark that she wanted to experience camping and being the K-drama hero that he is Do Ha arranges for it to happen. It takes them the whole afternoon to set up everything but it happens! They then have a lil discussion about how Sol Hee uses her powers, with her explaining that she can determine if it’s a lie or not if the answer is clear, succint, and precise. Like saying “The person I love the most right now is you, Sol Hee”, which of course Do Ha say which of course is the truth which of course leads to one of those chaste K-drama kisses that still has me screaming anyways. But then it becomes more aggressive (by K-drama standards) and wow K-dramas have changed! Also I am old!

While that is going on Deuk Chan is in a decidedly less romantic situation as he finds out that his wife is actually cheating on him. The drama.
Elsewhere, Syaon is singing in front of a bar crowd after trying in vain to figure out how to get Do Ha on her side. Honey, babe, you already lost him the moment you thought acting like his frankly abusive girlfriend was the way to go about it.
In yet another place in Seoul, Kang Min is on a stakeout and his partner is watching a show on the Hakcheon Beach case. Of course he sees that the murder suspect is Do Ha and now he’ll probably accidentally lead Eom Ho to him.
BUT that doesn’t seem to be the case because Eom Ho, while trying to intimidate the in-universe Dispatch reporter, comes up with the idea to kidnap Syaon to get to Do Ha. And Do Ha, being the male lead, meets up with Eom Ho in exchange for Syaon’s safety.
Eom Ho starts beating him up but Do Ha finally stands up for himself and tells Eom Ho the truth — that he didn’t kill Eom Ji but he did not believe her when she said she would kill herself. He repeats to Eom Ho something that Eom Ji always told him, that he was her dream, and then we learn that it was Eom Ho who told her this — that her dream should be Seung Ju. Eom Ho tells Seung Ju that he was all that Eom Ji had but he counters that with a truth bomb of his own: Eom Ho should have been there for her as well.
That floors Eom Ho, giving Do Ha/Seung Ju the chance to walk away. But as he does so, Eom Ho rushes to stab him but Kang Min steps in to save the day! Eom Ho is momentarily subdued and then Kang Min and Seung Ju begin to kiss passionately. Or at least that’s what happened in my mind!
