Ron Watches Drag Race Philippines Season 2 Episode 8

Yes, I know that I said that the next one of these wouldn’t be as late but what can I say? I am trying to survive in late stage capitalism you guys.

So let’s head straight right into it!

After the feel-good vibes of the previous make-over episode, with no one going home, the queens are feeling pretty good post-episode. Bernie, in particular, is happy that she now joins Captivating KatKat with having two RuBadges. The ladies even have time to joke about someone else possibly going home this episode. Bernie does offer up a more sober assessment in the confessionals, saying that it’s impossible that none of them are going home in the next episode. Someone is definitely getting booted.

The next day, the queens still have a positive vibe, with KatKat joking that maybe in this episode two people are going home. The way Bernie and KatKat have been getting most of the confessional screentime and both talking about someone going home? People, we have our bottom two. Or maybe you guys already know this since I am watching this episode late.

Today’s mini-challenge is the reading challenge and can I be honest with you guys? I think the queens are going to suck at this, just judging from the way the puppet challenge went. And the fact that they have to do it flip top style? Come on.

The queens are asked to put on hip hop drag and good lord. Like, I am no hip hop head at all but even taking that into account some of these looks are…something.

For the most part, the reading flip top challenge is painful my back hurts I want to peel my skin off. I laughed when M1ss Jade So said Katkat bites dicks off but the real winner of this challenge is Arizona Brandy because not only were the reads okay but she actually followed the flip top format? There was a musicality to it? She deservedly won this challenge!

The main challenge is a branding challenge where the queens have to come up with a shampoo commercial that represents their brand the best and right off Hana Beshie is floundering. KatKat is also blanking on what to do, while Bernie has a funny idea but does it really fill the requirements of the brief?

ØV Cünt does say something really insightful during the confessionals, that she may not have branding but she does have an identity, which is much better than branding. Actually, reading this back right after I typed doesn’t make quite as much sense as I was watching it but maybe it’ll come to me after I eat lunch.

The queens start shooting their commercials and I am sorry but I could not move past ØV’s bouncing tits. Especially since the shoots don’t appear to be going well for the rest of the queens? And I feel like I may be a little too hard on the queens because I believe they were just given a few hours to come up with their ideas? They’re not given a lot of time from what I’ve read online!

The runway…happened. I don’t know, I know I am not a fashion expert or anything of the sort but it just didn’t hit for me? The only one that really stuck with me was Bernie’s and Arizona, and Arizona stuck with me because she licked the paint from her hand.

We get to the commercials and M1ss Jade So what the fuck was that commercial I couldn’t stop laughing! She truly is the power top na bratzy of the season! ØV’s was also fun to watch and to be fair was more structured than M1ss Jade’s. There was a line that you could follow throughout.

The hear the judges critiques and thank the gods Pangina Heals is there because she really came with the critiques for the queens, pointing out how the fabric could have been steamed better, how certain commercials could have been longer and better, and how certain outfits just were not enough. I really should get to watching Drag Race Thailand!

Unfortunately, Bernie and KatKat end up as the bottom queens this week and the lip sync is emotional. Both the judges and the safe queens were bawling and you could literally hear Hana crying loudly in the background.

The moment is so emotional tht Pao makes an executive decision and declares both Bernie and KatKat safe. I guess we are going into the final episode with six queens!
