Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World Season 2 Episode 2

It’s a new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World! As we saw in the previous episode, Filipina Winnah Marina Summers took the first win, eliminating Mayhem Miller from the competition. Will she continue to rack up wins in the following episodes? Or will she be Pangina’d?

Let’s watch the latest episode!

As the queens file back into the Werk Room the rest of them are pretty shook that Mayhem left, even if she was the worst performer in the talent show. She is from the mothership show, after all, and I gues we’re all suffering from a little bit of colonial mentality, I guess? Although the US was a UK colony beforehand? Cultural colonialism, perhaps? I dunno, I’m writing this in the bumfuck of the morning. Marina does get in a little OFW/domestic helper joke and props to her!

The UK queens, however, are in a bind. With Mayhem home, and with most of the UK queens not having done all that great on their original seasons, they’re feeling the pressure to not be in the bottom because it looks like any of the international queens can send them home. And it’s something that the international queens pick up on, with La Grande Dame pointing out that there are just four UK queens and six international queens. Will this become Drag Survivor UK? We shall see!

The next day, Ru telegraphs pretty obviously in the RuMail that the Maxi challenge is going to be a ball, but before that happens, Michelle walks into the Werk Room for this episode’s mini challenge. It’s basically just then “Who will you send home?” question except there’s a whole thing about prop mirrors and shit.

And Marina gets named as the prettiest among the girls? On the one hand I am happy for her but on the other more anxious hand I feel like she is being set up to go home this episode? The shadow that Pangina’s elimination has cast is long and cold.

The girls also peg Marina to be their biggest competition and…same emotions. IS SHE BEING SET UP TO GO HOME SAY IT TO MY FACE YOU COLONIZERS.

Anyways, Michelle finally shares the three categories for the Happy Endings Ball. The first one is Lady Prince Charming, the second one is She-vil Queen, and the final one being Drags to Riches Eleganza. Just like previous balls, the third look is something that the queens have to make in the Werk Room.

Tia is, understandably, anxious about this whole challenge. Aside from her poor performance the last time she was part of a ball challenge, this time around Choriza has hoarded all of the fabric and Tia doesn’t have material that will stay on her body.

Meanwhile, Jonbers is hung up over who voted for her as the neediest queen, even if it was Arantxa who ended up getting that title in the end anyway. Honey, you’re a white European. You’ll live. A white drag queen is always going to have a following as opposed to a drag queen who is a person of color.

Meanwhile, this season’s two Tall Queens TM are flirting. Or at least Tia thinks La Grande Dame is flirting with her to get some gold fabric and honestly I am in a very vulnerable place right now and I would have folded if I thought La Grande Dame was flirting with me. And it looks like me and Tia are one and the same because she also succumbs to La Grande Dame’s charms.

When Michelle enters the Werk Room to talk to the queens about their creations the immediate Marina storyline is that she has an ambitious dress FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN’T SEW. SHE IS SO GOING HOME THIS EPISODE I HATE IT.

There is some discussion about the UK queens sticking together after Michelle manages to draw it out of Jonbers and Choriza but I am honestly rife with anxiety over the possibility of a Marina exit so it doesn’t register too much in my head.

Tia Kofi is also going through it in the Werk Room, especially since her ball look is going to be a tribute to Cherry Valentine, who passed away in 2022. It really is beautiful but I also feel like it really is going to put so much undue pressure on you to do something like this in a competition setting. But again what do I know I have not competed in Drag Race.

The runway starts and I actually like Tia Kofi’s first Mocking-haaayyy look! It’s no surprise that La Grande Dame turns in a beautiful look but I did laugh out loud with the silly French noises that went with it. Scarlet and Keta Minaj’s looks are great as well but I can’t help but feel like they’re going to be docked points for it being too similar to one another.

Marina’s first look is water-themed, and since she’s already said in the Werk Room that the outfit she’s going to make is also water-themed, I am guessing the next look is also going to be aquatic. Quite honestly I don’t know what to think of Marina’s look because the constant refrain in my head ever since the Michelle Werk Room visit is THEY’RE GOING TO SEND MARINA HOME.

Tia Kofi really is serving a glow up this season because I like her second look as well! But she is immediately blown out of the water by La Grande Dame, who is serving Alien Queen realness on the runway. The judges are gooped! And then Kita Minaj walks in with riding a…monster thing! It’s the prop runway tonight!

Marina does serve another aquatic look for her She-vil Queen look and it’s Dugong from the teleserye she shares a name with, Marina! My goodness this was a blast from the past!

Tia Kofi’s final look isn’t bad either! Come on, growth as a person indeed! La Grande Dame serves a slinky and sexy gold look and Marina’s look really does look good considering she doesn’t show! Maybe I am worrying for nothing! Choriza’s look, well, it was purple.

Jonbers Blonde, Tia Kofi, Gothy Kendoll, and Scarlet Envy are the safe queens in this episode and I almost laughed at how happy Gothy and Tia were to make it through. But then Jonbers’ Jan face? DELICIOUS.

La Grande Dame and Keta Minaj get positive critiques while Marina’s Dugong needed a little bit of explanation from the judges but that’s fine, that’s okay, the colonizers often overlook the stories of the colonized it’s okay. They did love her third look, which apparently is the first time that Marina has ever made a dress! Ru even asked for the trapdoor to open!

La Grande Dame and Keta Minaj are the top queens, Marina and Hannah are safe, and Arantxa and Choriza are the two Spanish queens in the bottom. Whoever goes home tonight, it’s still one less Filipino colonizer among the queens!

During the talk through(?), Keta points out that Arantxa helped her out with her outfit, so does that mean that she’s going to save Arantxa? Because it’s going to be such a dick move if she ends up sending Arantxa home.

Meanwhile, Scarlet is being messy with the safe girls because she just said out loud that it’s boring to be fair and that she would totally send home her strongest competition if they landed in the bottom. The editing is not on your side baby you’re gonna Morgan McMichaels yourself here!

Once the lip sync starts, it’s immediately clear that La Grande Dame is winning the thing because she perfectly makes fun of the ubiquity of this song in clubs, acting like a DJ trying to keep up with the energy of it. And who does La Grande Dame send home? Arantxa!

Another colonizer down!
