It’s been yet another exhausting week for me, with real-life obligations and anxieties making it difficult to write anything that isn’t work related. But am back here now! Let’s get into this episode!
Roxxxy Andrews gets cut by Angeria once again in the previous episode and The Doll is plucked. She insists that Angeria is being overly dramatic about her pick this week and that she “didn’t come here for all that.” LIKE. You were crying just last week when you picked Gottmik!
Meanwhile, the queens also start focusing on Plastique, as she and Roxxxy are now the two queens with the most badges in the competition. Plastique insists she’s not good at anything, which Nina understandably finds frustrating because Nina is the comedy queen and she gets beaten by Plastique. So I guess the storyline this episode is Angeria vs Roxxxy and Nina vs Plastique.
The next day, Plastique tries to convince the group that they really shouldn’t block the person with the most badges — her — but the group isn’t having it. Fortunately, Ru comes in and Plastique doesn’t have to elaborate any further. Ru tells the queens that today’s mini challenge is them transferring fruits to a basket using their between-me-down-there and…what?
While the queens are digesting that piece of information Ru further sweetens the pot. The mini challenge winner gets immunity from being cut this week. Now that is a mini challenge that has bearing on the show, Drag Race France!
The mini challenge starts and it’s not as risqué as I thought it would be. They’re just squeezing the fruit between their thighs! I literally thought that they would get their dicks hard and tie the fruits to it with a string. I’m in need of therapy, I know.
ANYWAYS. Nina wins the challenge and gets immunity! As she correctly points out, now this means that Plastique and Roxxxy can still be snipped this week, giving the other girls a chance to catch up. Except for maybe Shannel.
This week’s Maxi Challenge is an acting one where the queens get to act alongside Ru, which is all well and good but can anything really top Jujubee and Ru’s acting during Season 2?
Shannel is feeling her lack of badges very, very acutely and shares that she does not want to be the Susan Lucci of drag and I just want to tell her that they’re not going to give you a badge unless you break like you did in Season 1.
Nina, on the other hand, feels like this just may be the challenge where she actually gets to win money. Which…I dunno, you”ll probably get a badge but you haven’t been the best lip sync queen so far in the competition, and the lip sync is where you win the cash.
Meanwhile, Gottmik is talking about why she was so emotional last week and this was a really interesting thing for me because I don’t know much about trans guys. I’ve met a few in passing but don’t really have any as friends. It’s eye-opening to see that even trans guys aren’t safe from toxic masculinity.
They start shooting the challenge and Shannel really is getting close to getting that badge because she’s now said out loud in the confessionals that she feels like she still hasn’t made Ru proud and it’s messing with her head a bit. Have that meltdown and you get that badge, girl!
Nina, on the other hand, looks set to win this challenge because I screamed at that “I thought this was the ladies room” part.
After the shoot, the queens are talking about their performance during the challenge and Shannel is not feeling very positive about it. Which really is setting up the breakdown further down this season. Don’t worry, that badge is coming soon!
A nice little thing is that Roxxxy and Angeria also made up! Roxxxy explained that she slept on it and realized the next day that she was being overly dramatic about it and apologized to Angeria for being in her feelings. That so great to hear!
The runway is widow-themed and I gotta say they all look great! The looks aren’t up yet for most of the queens but the standouts for me were Plastique, Shannel, and Gottmik.
We finally get to see the acting challenge and…well, they filmed something. I don’t know why but none of them were funny to me? Even if I knew the references! Some of them were actually funnier during the rehearsal snippets that were shown to us!
The judges thought everything was funny and I’m like…maybe I just have no sense of humor? Maybe I’m jaded? But anyway, it’s Angeria and Nina West who end up the top queens for the week and I guess they’re as good a choice as any of the other queens?
The lip sync happens and quite honestly this is yet another meh lip sync for this season. Angeria wins and the actual drama happens when she cuts off Gottmik. And Gottmik is upset about it!
