Ron Watches Drag Race France Season 3 Episode 7

Drag Race France truly refuses to have any content for YouTube

It’s really been such busy work weeks for me and quite honestly I dislike not being able to put out these things at an earlier time. But since this doesn’t pay the bills, I have to relegate it to the back. But I’ve got time to watch this now!

After winning last week’s makeover episode, Ruby On The Nail is now the season frontrunner while Perseo had to bid the girls adieu after losing to Misty Phoenix in the lip sync. Perseo really shouldn’t have worn that hat thing.

The queens have a post-mortem about the previous episode and Ruby says she really didn’t expect to win and Leona “jokingly” rips Ruby’s wig off and surprise there was another wig underneath! I’ll be honest with everyone at this point…it’s like they’re trying to transition to a funny edit but it didn’t work out.

The next day, the queens are told that the mini challenge will be “The Weakest Heel” with Lova Ladiva. I vaguely remember this from the previous season so I hope the queens have fun with it! They’re given five minutes to get into quick drag and I have to admit the way they’ve shot these quick drag things I don’t think they actually spend five minutes doing it. It seems to last way too long!

The mini challenge starts and I feel like this went under the radar but Le Filip talking about how you use your finger to pick a priest? SCREAMING.

In fact, Le Filip and Misty are the funniest ones for me during this mini challenge. I got the jokes even if I don’t understand French! That was a funny mini challenge but once again, has no bearing at all on anything else in the show.

This week’s Maxi Challenge is designing a wig and honestly, that’s never been done before! And I legit think this could be a great challenge and maybe something other franchises should do as well! After all, most queens wear wigs and if we’re going to be competing in the Olympics of drag I don’t think it’s unfair to ask the queens to at least the basics of wig design.

Immediately, Lula Strega shares that she knows how to design a wig seeing as she was too poor to get herself wigs when she was starting out. When she had some money coming in she began doing them for pleasure. She’s even made wigs for Drag Race Mexico‘s Lolita Banana and Drag Race France season2 contestant Sara Forever. And now I know she won’t make the final four because she’s sharing her story now in the Werk Room. OR this could be to build up her winner’s edit because she’s already had multiple occasions of sharing her story. She just talked about her mom’s alcoholism in the previous episode!

Le Filip is flat out saying she’s never designed or styled a wig in her life and this may be the episode where we say goodbye to her. To be fair, production has been gunning for her for multiple episodes now and this may be the one that does it.

Lula Strega is up first on the runway and…the wig isn’t big enough for me? But then again maybe they only had a limited amount of time to do this. It’s not that it’s bad but I would have preferred it to be larger. Kinda like Ruby On The Nail’s when she came out!

I also liked Misty Phoenix’s wig, while Le Filip…well she tried. And then Leona Winter comes out and she truly Nymphia Winded this episode because she’d been whining about her wig in the Werk Room and then comes out with a good wig.

HOWEVER, there’s still a lot of time left in the episode and they’re already on the runway, so I’m guessing that pink phone is going to ring again and they’re going to be asked to do another additional thing aside from these wigs. Besides, there was already that ringing phone clue during Nicky’s video message!

AND THERE IS AN ENTIRELY NEW MAXI CHALLENGE. The queens will be roasting Keiona AND the mini challenge win for Lula actually counts for something because now she can determine the order of the queens. I really like this twist because I feel like this sort of puts the queens on equal footing with the roast? Since they only have a limited time to come up with material I feel even queens with more experience at roasts like Le Filip won’t have too big of an advantage.

Lula puts herself first in the roast order and I don’t know if that’s a good idea! She hasn’t been particularly funny during the season, or at least the editing hasn’t shown us that side of her. BUT SURPRISE! She’s actually funny! She really is being given the winner’s edit!

Up next is Misty Phoenix and…well I don’t understand French but from the looks on the judges’ face she wasn’t roasting anybody but was being more mean? Leona makes the same observation, which is ironic since it turns out her routine is kinda the same? At least from the reactions and the sound effects the production provided!

The last two performers are Ruby and Le Filip and they thankfully salvage those two sets from Misty and Leona. Le Filip ESPECIALLY. That bitch is funny. And those jokes were funny even in translation!

AND THEN NICKY GETS ANOTHER PHONE CALL AND THE QUEENS HAVE TO PREPARE A LIP SYNC PERFORMANCE IN AN HOUR. Gotta say, at the start of the episode it felt a little slow but turns out it was because they were gearing up for this one! THREE MAXI CHALLENGES IN ONE EPISODE!

AND AS THEY’RE PREPARING FOR THE CHALLENGE MISTY AND LEONE GET INTO A LITTLE TIFF. I LOVE IT. THEY ARE THE DRAMA.

ANYWAYS, the queens are able to pull it off and we finally get to see the runway theme for this week which is outfits made out of hair and the standouts for me were Le Filip and Lula Strega.

The critiques start and the one that really stood out to me is Kiddy Smile calling out Leona Winter’s braids. I don’t have an opinion on this since I am not Black and not of the culture BUT it is funny — not funny haha — that this is the second competition that Leona Winter has been called out for cultural insensitivity.

After the critiques and the questions, Lula Strega emerges as this week’s winner and I’m fine with that! Taking all three challenges into account, she was consistently good in all of them. She’s the second queen with two badges alongside Ruby!

Ruby and Le Filip also make it into the finals, which leaves Misty and Leona in the bottom two. The do the lip sync and…maybe it’s the editing but that was bad. Like even worse than the All Stars 9 lip syncs. Send them both home.
