Yes, I know I just finished watching the previous episode just this morning. But I am finally done with work and now I can continue watching!
The previous episode ended with a cliffhanger, with the show not revealing who Shun picked to work his coffee truck shift with. But are we really going to be surprised if he picks Dai? Because come on. And surprise, surprise he does pick Dai. Shun, baby, you are your own worst enemy.
Once the two homosexuals are gone Gensei, Ryota, and Usak talk about how those two keep picking each other and Usak says it’s a match made in heaven, right in front of Ryota who also has a crush on Shun. Ryota says that would be true if they both liked each other. And they do, Ryota, they do, I’m so sorry.
The trio’s conversation soon moves to how they act when they like someone and if they’re assertive and come out and say that they like someone. Usak says he doesn’t want people to know that he likes them and, obviously, it hasn’t worked out for him at all. Ryota says he wouldn’t outright admit his feelings to the person he likes BUT he would increase the time the two of them spent together. The production shows a few shots of Gensei as Ryota says this, so maybe it’s going to add to the growing pile of misunderstood signals that Gensei is getting from Ryota.
Meanwhile, Dai and Shun have earned ¥8,950 at the end of their shift and are hanging out by the sea AND I RECOGNIZE THIS SCENE FROM THE TRAILER. THEY’RE GOING TO KISS. Oh my god.
Shun tells Dai that he actually hesitated picking him as his shift partner because he’s unsure about his feelings for him. He might just like Dai only because he knows he’s interested in him. AND THEN HE SAYS THAT MAYBE A KISS WOULD MAKE HIS FEELINGS CLEAR. Boy, this is why you attract players because you’re a player yourself. Maybe not the type people usually think of but you’re one too. THIS IS MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY ON DISPLAY.
Then these HOMOSEXUALS have the audacity to be cute and flirty with each other on the beach, with Dai asking for Shun’s hand and telling him that he’s going to kiss him but Shun’s being “Oh no, I gotta be comfortable before we kiss.” Like. Gworl. That is like catnip for guys like Dai. That is an open invitation.
The next day the boys are all being domestic with each other. Dai is folding Shun’s laundry while Gensei is hiding Ryota’s eyebags with makeup and giving him pointers on how to do it himself and showering him with compliments. Gensei, honey, Ryota is the wrong tree to bark at, unfortunately.
And then we get another cast member! My goodness. The new cast member is apparently someone Dai had a past with and the mess. Or at least the potential mess. The new guy is Alan, 29-years-old and working for an overseas IT company. He’s part Brazilian, Italian, and Japanese and he culturally identifies as Brazilian which is definitely a departure from Japanese culture. Oh this is definitely going to shake things up.
AND THE EDITING SHOWS THAT HE WILL. There’s that flash forward thing and we see him asking one of the boys if they wanna wash each other and another scene where he says he can’t and he starts crying? MY GHAD.
Alan immediately shakes up the interactions between the guys because not only does he know Dai, he also knows Usak and he goes around hugging everyone which isn’t that much if this was a Western show but as Alan himself points out it’s unusual in Japan. And the shady shot of Shun looking tired of Alan already? Delicious.
Dai reveals that he DM’d Alan because he thought he was hot AND SHUN’S FACE RIGHT BESIDE HIM I CRIE. And then in the confessionals Dai said that he and Alan fucked and I am howling. THE MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY ABOUNDS.
The panel says that the fact they slept together means they found each other attractive and while that’s true it’s also true that us homos will fuck just about anyone depending on the level of horniness. I’M JUST SAYING.
Alan is immediately comfortable with the group, hugging Usak in the sauna and being all touchy with Dai in the sauna. All while Shun is in the sauna with the three of them as well. THE CACKLING I AM DOING. Shun is looking pressed.
While grilling meat the boys ask Alan what his type is and he very matter-of-factly says that he likes big butts and he cannot lie, these other brothers can’t deny. Dai immediately lobs Taeheon at Alan, saying that he’s got a big butt. Taeheon denies this, saying that he’s got a small butt, to which Alan replies that butts get bigger if you work hard together. I mean, okay! Let’s work together!
And then we pivot to a conversation about self-love and self-centeredness and I’m sorry but Dai’s words about not complaining about the government’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic and doing what you can instead triggered me a little. The government here handled the pandemic disastrously and we got that very same rhetoric from the people who kept our previous horrible government in power.
I am definitely on Taeheon’s side in this discussion. Whatever good things the government here did during the pandemic came about because people complained, despite the sycophants trying to silence those voices of dissent. The discussion is starting to get heated between Taeheon and Dai and Alan jumps in just in the nick of time to stop it from becoming an outright fight.
Dai retreats into the house to cool down because it seems like he did not like Alan’s intervention and Shun follows him inside and honestly? They deserve each other at this point. Dai’s feeding Shun this line about how he’s never met someone like him before and that he must have experienced something big in the past and Shun looks like he’s falling for it and then Shun reveals he was left at an orphanage and now I feel bad. But not bad enough to not include a clip of Roxxxy Andrews being left at a bus stop.
That revelation does explain why he’s so gung-ho about having a relationship that ends in marriage and eventually adopting kids. Especially that adopting kids part. After that revelation Shun makes a song for Dai on the spot and it’s no wonder everyone is gagging over these two on social media.
Outside, Alan is doing a great job of digging up the guys’ lives because I don’t think I’ve heard them discuss this much of themselves in previous episodes? But maybe that’s just the editing. ANYWAY, we find out that Gensei’s father died of stomach cancer and this actually makes me cry. Gensei I’m sorry I made fun of your moustache!
After that emotional moment the boys get a message that two of them can go on a date tomorrow BUT only if the feelings are mutual. How are they going to find this out? By writing the name of the person that they like on a piece of paper and see what matches. I am rolling my eyes because of course it’s going to be Shun and Dai.
Well okay I feel a little better since it’s not just one pair that gets to go on a date. As long as they’re a match, they can go on one. Shun and Dai are the obvious first pair and THE FUCKING PRODUCTION WAS JUST KIDDING THERE ARE NO OTHER PAIRS BECAUSE THEY’RE THE ONLY ONES THAT MATCHED.
Gensei is a little befuddled since he thought Ryota was into him but as we all know, the person Ryota is into is Shun. Poor Gensei you didn’t deserve this.
Shun and Dai go on their date and Shun tells Dai that he really doesn’t like being pursued, which as I said several paragraphs up, is like an invitation for guys like Dai. He’s going to pursue you even more! And boy does Shun have that cold aura down pat. Is this what tsundere is in action?
And then we get a cliffhanger about Shun saying he saw some of Dai’s bad aspects. Damn! And I know that the fourth episode is out now but I have work tomorrow so I gotta stop there. Just you wait for me show!
