Ron Watches Drag Race Mexico Season 2 Episode 6

I’ve been busy the past few weeks — and honestly because there’s just a lot of Drag Race out right now — that I haven’t been able watch Drag Race Mexico on time. But now that All Stars and Drag Race France are over, I can hopefully watch these episodes as they come out.

The previous episode saw Elektra sending Ava home and Luna Lansman winning Snatch Game, which really is a great point in the competition to start climbing up. But first, the queens have to do the requisite mourning for the departed queen in front of her mirror message.

There’s a little bragging about the pins the next day but that’s cut off by Lolita leaving what I think is an obvious clue that this is a sewing challenge because she literary tells the queens they’ll sew their own reality.

This particular challenge is a lot more difficult though because the queens have no idea what’s in their bag. They’re just going to randomly pick from the ones the Pit Crew brought in and do their best. The sewing challenge is already difficult for non-sewing queens when they’re given the choice to pick the material so this is probably horrifying for them now.

As they open up their bags it’s Luna and Eva who immediately worry that they don’t know what they’re going to do with the stuff that they got. Unique is added to that list as well as Lexxa Fox, who doesn’t know what she’s going to do with the cycling stuff. I don’t know anything about sewing but I have heard Trixie and Katya talk about how difficult it is to work with stretchy fabric, which I imagine is what the cycling stuff is made out of.

The queens start designing and Horacio decides this is the episode she’s not going to be naked and…I dunno I feel like you should change it up when you’re not making the outfit? Especially when you’re not a sewing queen? This could land you in the bottom again!

Meanwhile, Elektra says she’s going to make four pieces and I hope she’s got that Trinity the Tuck and Roxxxy Andrews speed because that is a lot. But she’s confident so let’s see! Luna, on the other hand, is going with a simple black gown which I think is the safest and get you to the next episode quickly.

Lexxa and Jenary are up first when Lolita, Taiga, and Oscar enter the Werk Room for the walkthrough. And maybe Horacio had a point when she said she wasn’t just going to serve body this episode because that is the first thing that Lolita criticizes with Lexxa’s look. Jenary is also criticized for a look that is honestly just another corset with stuff put on it.

Elektra, despite her four piece plan, is criticized for being too literal with her design, while Luna is told her design doesn’t have enough tennis elements. None of the girls are getting a break!

The trend continues with Horacio and Unique and I think they want to send Unique home because they just told her to start from scratch. Bye girl.

Eva Blunt has a great presentation with interchangeable…things?…on her notebook that unfortunately leads to the judges suggesting she do all the possible looks she showed them through reveals. Which is more work for Eva. Suculenta’s illustration is, well, she’s going to be lip syncing against Unique.

After the walkthrough we finally get a good transition from the editing team. It made sense that the queens are preparing their faces for after the walkthrough which leads perfectly to the mirror thing they did with Jhonny Caz.

AND the smooth transitions continue, with Suculenta very pointedly saying they want to join “this week’s conversation.” It’s about telling family members that they do drag, because as many older seasons of Drag Race from different countries have told us, coming out as a drag queen on top of being gay can be a bit too much for family members. And Suculenta gets a warm moment that doesn’t feel inorganic! Which either means she wins this episode or goes home!

The runway starts and Elektra looks great with the four pieces that she’s made but Taiga did have a point during the walkthrough when she said that this was too literal. It looks great, no mistake, but it’s not exactly transformative.

Jenary’s look…was a choice. While Unqiue’s…I wish it fit better. I felt like it was too loose on her body and didn’t really do her any favors. I thought Luna’s look was just okay but the judges looked like they went crazy over it so what do I know?

Lexxa Fox comes out with…a choice and boy were choices made with this outfit. It doesn’t look like any work went into it? I feel like she just wrapped two cycling suit strips on her titties and called it a day. Choices.

In fact, Suculenta does an excellent job when you compare it to Lexxa’s work. I guess she won’t be lip syncing then! Horacio also does a better job than Lexxa’s and I feel like any other thing that comes out after Lexxa’s outfit is going to look so much better by default. Lexxa’s look definitely served Eva Blunt well, whose outfit didn’t have as many reveals as one would think BUT looked good compared to Lexxa’s work.

After the runway, Lolita adds a little spice to the proceedings by asking the queens who they think should go home this episode and why. Unique gets votes from five of the queens and Suculenta two. Leexa, even though I think her outfit should put her in the bottom, admittedly does the cunty thing and picks Eva Blunt, who she thinks is her strongest competition and who has been safe for far too long.

Jenary and Lexxa are the safe queens this episode and I guess I should credit Lexxa for being self-aware enough that she considered the possibility of being a bottom queen this episode. I’m sorry but her outfit really does not work for me.

Taiga does the Drag Race judge thing of “Yay you did what we asked but you should have kept some of the stuff from that thing we asked you to change” and poor, poor Unique who did you offend on the production?

Horacio looks like a candidate for the top spot as she came up with her look without knowing how to sew at all, which really does make it more impressive. Eva also gets a lot of praise from the judges so I guess it’s between her and Horacio.

Back at the Werk Room, I do feel bad for Elektra who seems to only have taken the bad critiques with her. It’s not that the judges thought her look was bad. Lolita said it was good! It’s just that it’s exactly the interpretation you would expect and they know Elektra can do better.

After the critiques, it’s Luna who gets the win, making her the first queen to win two challenges and leading to Eva giving the Jan face this season. I know this is so bad to say but queens giving Jan faces gives me life.

And Eva Blunt wins anyway! Two winners this episode! I always love it when the queens looks happy and also because I think Eva Blunt is cute sue me.

Unique and Suculenta are in the bottom and Unique points out that if she sends Suculenta home she’d literally be the assassin of the de la Fuente drag family. I kinda want her to win the lip sync and have this be a drag family feud but I feel like production has already had enough of Unique.

And well I’m proven wrong! There is going to be a blood feud between the de la Fuente drag family and Unique because she’s sent every member of the family home. Damnnnn!!!!
