I know, I know this is literally a week late and there’s a new episode out but I wanna complete it okay? It’s just that the start of August was a little busy for me and I only got to start blogging again about three days ago.
Anyway let’s watch this episode!
In the previous episode, we saw the start of a drag family blood feud as Unique sent the last member of the de la Fuente drag family home. She better watch out once the show ends because the de la Fuentes will probably be outside her home waiting to get a punch in. The queens even joke about it, saying that Unique probably won’t be getting an invitation to the de la Fuente Christmas dinner.
The next day, Lolita and Taiga leave the clues for the next Maxi Challenge, which looks to be about telenovelas. The queens say Tres Marias and Google tells me it’s a 2016 show? Isn’t that pretty recent? I thought they would go for something like Maria la del Barrio or something.
But then again what the fuck am I talking about I’m not even Mexican, they know what they’re doing!
Anyways, they’re going to do a Rusical on Las Tres Marias which really I don’t know what it is.But I think it has to do with the Maria Mercedes, Marimar, and Maria la del Barrio trilogy because the guest judge is Chantel Andere, Señora Angelica Santibañez herself!
I couldn’t find a clip of the original Mexican scene but this all the rage back then!
They start casting the roles and this is definitely about Maria Mercedes, Marimar, and Maria la del Barrio because there’s a character named Pulgosa. And it’s the role most everyone wants. Eva Blunt is cool not taking it. The main contenders for the role are Unique and Lexxa Fox and I think this may be the episode Uniqe is sent home.
Then there’s a character named Maria la del bar gay and COME ON. This really confirms it’s about Maria Mercedes, Marimar, and Maria la del Barrio and I’m so excited! Having watched all three shows I am fucking gooped that I am getting some of the references the queens are throwing out.
In fact, they keep making references to the different shows even during the recording and my mind is just amazed at how I get the references and even understand some of the Spanish??? Is this representation??? KIDDING.
Anyways, from the recording, it doesn’t seem like any of the queens are standing out. It looks like they all have an equal chance of ending in the bottom! Let’s wait and see how this all plays out.
The Rusical starts and…well, they sing and dance. I am very entertained by the references though and the twists they’ve done. But I don’t think any of the queens performed outstandingly? It was very…meh.
Also the villains were dressed weirdly? Like it’s so far from the characters you’re meant to portray? Why is Angelica dressed like that? But then again I am not from the culture and only got it via osmosis so maybe they’re getting something I’m not getting. Gotta give it to Chantal though, she’s acting like this is the bee’s knees.
The queens at least make up for it on the runway, which is all about the color yellow. Well, at least most of them do. I don’t think Unique did a very good job and maybe she was just brought on as the de la Fuente drag family assassin? I also found it funny how all the judges thought Elektra was a bee when what she was dressed up as was a praying mantis.
During the judges’ critiques it looks like Unique, Luna, and Horacio are going to be the bottoms, with maybe a Lexxa as a surprise to keep the girls rattled.
And…I’m sorta right? Jenary Bloom is this week’s winner, while Luna, Horacio, and Lexxa are the bottom three. Unique is safe! And then Lexxa is safe and it’s going to be a showdown between Luna and Horacio. I think they’re going to send Horacio home. I just can’t imagine them sending Luna home since she’s got two badges. It’s not like this is a Plasma situation or anything.
But maybe this is a Plasma situation because Horacio is hogging all of the attention right now with the tricks and flips and dips and splits. And yep, this is a Plasma situation as Luna is sent home.
