Ron Does Stuff

So, I was unable to blog Friday last week because I had to cover an event for work, with that event being Global Dominasian, Eva Le Queen’s viewing party for the first two episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars!

I’ve been to a viewing party for Drag Race before, but it’s mostly been smaller affairs, like one’s arranged by me and my friends or the ones they hold at Butterboy in Quezon City. However, this viewing party arranged by Eva Le Queen’s The Playhouse is probably the biggest affair I’ve been to.

For one, it was held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño main theater, which can seat up to 500 people and is part of the Pasig City Hall Complex. I joked with my friends beforehand that maybe Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto would be watching as well.

The invitation also promised attendance from drag luminaries from both Drag Race Philippines and Drag Den, and boy did they arrive. There were so many drag performers there that I — to my shame — either did not recognize them or did not have enough hands to take photos of them.

Before the actual viewing party — actually, even before the other queens arrived — Eva held a short press conference for the gathered media. I was able to ask a few questions but only managed to video the one where I asked her about her post-Global All Stars plans. She’s planning on becoming the Johnny M of local drag, y’all!

Of course, what’s a viewing party without performances? Queens from all three seasons of Drag Race Philippines were on hand to entertain the crowd in between the screenings of the first two episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars.

Before the screening of the first episode, we had performances from Hana Beshie, Bernie, and Arizona Brandy. You guys have to forgive my video for Arizona Brandy because I didn’t know it had started recording vertically.

I hope you guys weren’t too fucked up by the weird way that Arizona Brandy video ended up being!

Anyways, the next batch of performances were from Eva herself, Tita Baby, Khianna, and Maxie. Eva’s performance was especially memorable because there was a stage malfunction but the show must go on!

The Divine Divas were the penultimate performers, before Eva closed the night of performances with “My Way”, the video of which you can watch at the top of the post! As for the Divine Divas video, I’ll have to add that tomorrow because I didn’t know that YouTube had an upload limit since I’m not really a YouTuber.

All in all, it was a nice evening spent with the country’s drag queens. Tiring, because I am ancient and decrepit, but it was still a nice and fun time! Definitely recommend if you have the energy for it!
