Another week done! I’m really enjoying this every week because it’s become sort of a relaxing routine for me. Hopefully I’m able to keep this up!
Ricky Lee scriptwriting courses
A lot of the country’s current crop of scriptwriters have taken part in the Ricky Lee scriptwriting courses, but I do admit that I haven’t heard a lot of news about it in recent years.
I haven’t heard about Pelikulove either, but it looks like they’ve been carrying on these scriptwriting courses and they’re offering it for free! Follow Pelikulove on their website, Facebook account, TikTok, and YouTube channel.
The Philippines at the Frankfurt Book Fair
The Philippines is at the Frankfurt Book Fair this year as the Guest of Honor, and one of the activities they’ve organized there is “Tagay: A Night out in the Philippines”, which will feature speakers Butch Dalisay, Silly People’s Improv Theatre (SPIT) co-founder Jay Ignacio, and National Book Development Board’s executive director, Charisse Aquino Tugade. Check it out if you’re in Frankfurt!
Jodi Picoult and My Sister’s Keeper
I have not read any Jodi Picoult and have not watched My Sister’s Keeper, but apparently she hated this adaptation. People has an exclusive with her where she talks about some of her current projects, such as writing for theater. She’s working on an Austenland adaptation!
She also talked about her latest book, By Any Other Name, which “ells the stories of Emilia Bassano, a real-life woman who some historians believe may have been the brains behind Shakespeare’s work, and Melina Green, a fictional modern-day playwright who only finds recognition after her play is submitted to a festival under her Black male roommate’s name.”
I don’t know about the second part of that synopsis though. Just saying.
Chasten Buttigieg’s children’s book

Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Pete Buttigieg, is out with a children’s book titled Papa’s Coming Home. The book “follows siblings JoJo and Rosie, who are anxiously waiting for their father to return home. With the help of Daddy, they bake Papa a cake, make him signs and pick flowers to prepare for his arrival — only to realize that once they get to the airport, there’s no room for Papa to sit in the car.”
Check out People‘s interview with Chasten about the book here.
