Ron Watches My Love Mix-Up! (Thai) Episode 4

I think I’m six episodes behind on this show and by this Friday it’s going to be seven if I don’t speed it up, so I’m trying my best to narrow that gap. Let’s go!

In the previous episode, we saw Atom unceremoniously dragged to the phallic symbol rooftop by Half, who wants him to tell Kongthap the truth — that all of this MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY stemmed from a misunderstanding.

Of course, being a heterosexual male, Half speaks up for Atom when he probably shouldn’t have, leaving Atom to explain the complicated web of homosexuality blossoming from within him. In fact, Atom doesn’t even get to explain himself clearly. Straight men truly are pests.

What else is a young gay boy to do other than talk to his heterosexual female friend? Mudmee tries her best to lift Atom’s spirits up but alas, the young gay boy has given up on love and runs away from Mudmee. You go, young gay boy!

However, Mudmee isn’t about to let their Eraser Alliance be dissolved because of a straight man and chases after Atom only to run into Half instead. Here’s where she learns one of the truths of the universe — straight men are insensitive. She gives him a slap like her counterpart did in the Japanese original and I say you go girl!

Atom and Half meet in the classroom after the slap and just like any straight man, he blames the slap on Atom. And then proceeds to LOUDLY make wrong declarations in the classroom and I am genuinely curious how nobody is inching closer to this two to find out the tsismis.

Anyways, thanks to Kongthap’s tutoring, Atom is able to pass his Math exam and they have this totally Cady Heron/Aaron Samuels interaction over it since Kongthap sits right in front of Atom in class.

But that’s no longer possible now as the teacher has changed the class’ seating arrangement and now Atom and Kongthap are separated. The subtlety! Atom pines for Kongthap from where he’s seated and straight man Half finally catches on. Or at least starts to.

Kongthap, on the other hand, is thinking about everything that has happened as well. Atom’s pretty much rejected him, so why is he still hung up over it when he wasn’t even sure if he was into Atom in the first place? It’s because you like him, you silly goose!

Back to Atom, he’s in the faculty room being accused of cheating because his grades improved drastically. Are we getting that senior student/teacher storyline from the Japanese version? I can’t remember clearly but this situation feels familiar. Ot maybe I’m the silly goose because it’s resolved immediately when Kongthap walks in and stands up for Atom and maybe I should just let the show unfold a bit before I type stuff.

The teacher says Atom and Kongthap must be tight and wrangles Atom into becoming the basketball team’s manager as he’s swamped by work. Atom’s a student with his own concerns too, what about the extra work you’re dumping on him!

Anyways, now Atom has to spend time around hot and sweaty Kongthap while also bringing water, sports drinks, and towels and I mean if the guys is hot enough I wouldn’t mind doing this, just saying. And since she’s a good hetero girl friend Mudmee tells Atom to listen to his feelings. He still wants Kongthap. He knows its true.

Mudmee says she’s checked his horoscope and that it said yellow is the auspicious color of the day for him so she’s packed him all yellow stuff to bring him luck. She tells him to to bring it with him while he buys a drink for Kongthap. Am sensing a product placement?

Yes it is a product placement! You all know I love me some product placement.

Through a series of unfortunate events, Atom is unable to but the drink for Kongthap but Mudmee definitely is a good Judy because wouldn’t you know it the drink is in a yellow bottle and she conveniently had one of those drinks in the bag she gave Atom and then we get Kongthap drinking the drink for that sweet, sweet product placement coins.

Drink it up babe!

While the homos are drinking yellow stuff, the heterosexuals are in the kitchen, with Half wanting to know why Mudmee slapped him. And Half now realizes that Atom really does like Kongthap and credit this straight man for thinking it was unbecoming of him to tell Atom to get over Kongthap. The two friends repair their friendship and I would not have mind if they kissed and made up, just saying. Half is also cute!

We get another product placement but it’s for contact lenses and I get a little freaked out sometimes when people put it on their eyes so no screenshots! The team is off to another school and I dunno if it’s going to be like the Japanese show where they’re losers or are they going to be winners in this one?

Whatever they’ll be, one thing that’s for sure is that Atom’s going to be wearing Kongthap’s old jersey and doesn’t that make you his boyfriend at this point? I think you should kiss him and find out. But before Atom can do that a girl from Kongthap’s past arrives. Oh crap.

So this girl Clair used to play basketball with Kongthap and one other team member from Atom’s school so does that mean that basketball tournaments in Thai schools are mixed-gender? Somebody clear it up for me!

Clair knows about Kongthap’s past and how he’s a weeb and everything and of course Atom is feeling just a tiny smidge insecure. Especially when Clair says she and Kongthap need to talk after the match. Oh no is this going to be that student-teacher storyline from the Japanese original?

We find out that Kongthap and Clair have been having these one-on-one basketball games since forever and the two’s common friend thinks it’s because Clair wants to go out with Konthap. But I think it’s because Clair is hot for teacher.

Anyways, product placement break!

They’re really piling it on this episode.

Half bought the drink for Mudmee to thank her for slapping him, since it helped fix his and Atom’s friendship. Half says maybe he should let Mudmee slap him more often and oh boy there’s probably fanfic of that somewhere. They have a heterosexual moment of affection but that’s not what we’re on the internet for let’s move this along.

Back at The Other School, Atom is feeling more and more insecure as it turns out that Kongthap is still using the towel that Clair gave him from when they were young. Clair and Atom even get to talking with each other and Clair tells him that she knows every thought in Kongthap’s head. and then proceeds to show Atom exactly that by correctly predicting every move he makes during the basketball game. Assert your dominance, Clair!

Unlike the Japanese original, Kongthap’s team wins this game, although with how well Clair can read him why doesn’t she use to to her advantage as the other team’s captain? Anyways, Kongthap stays behind for his one-0n-one game with Clair and Atom isn’t giving him up without a fight.

He arrives and stops Clair from making her shot and thank God they changed it from a crush on a teacher to a crush on the Khao-pan, the common friend. Because that part of the Japanese original was not it for me.

With that misunderstanding resolved, Khongtap goes home with the rest of the team and asks Atom why he came back to cockblock Clair. Since we’re only four episodes in, Atom just tells him it’s because he wants to give him a towel but Kongthap can keep on using Clair’s towel if he wants. And then Khongtap tells Atom he’ll use his towel so there’s no misunderstanding and then through a series of cute little events we get to this romance series staple!

You go you little gay boys!
