We’re getting closer and closer to the finale! Let’s dive right into the latest episode of Drag Race Mexico!
After assassinating all the members of the De La Fuente family during the lip syncs, Unique finally said goodbye in last week’s episode. We learn as the queens go back to the Werk Room that Jenary actually got injured during the lip sync so it really was good that Unique got sent home because imagine how much it would suck if you got injured and lost the lip sync?
The next day, the queens start talking about Jenary’s lip sync — apparently she wasn’t mouthing all the words — and then it gets brought up that Eva Blunt has not lip synced at all throughout the competition. Is this foreshadowing? Are we going to get Eva in the bottom this episode?
The discussion is cut short as Taiga and Lolita enter the Werk Room to deliver a surprise for the queens — messages from their loved ones. Cue the requisite tears! I do love that it’s more than just one person greeting the queens. They really tracked down their loved ones!
And I also liked their whole drama of hiding the family members who were on set before springing them on the contestants. It just feels right for a Latin edition of Drag Race to be even more melodramatic than usual.
Obviously, the family members that have come are going to be the makeover subjects that the queens will work on, and I have to say that Elektra and Horacio has both lucked out because both their family members are beautiful. But then again they may end up too confident and end up with a mess. Let’s see!
Before they start working on their makeovers, the queens catch up with their family members and one conversation that I really liked was between Lexxa Fox and her lesbian sister, and how Lexxa appreciates how her sister took that difficult road of being the first out gay person in the family so that things would be easier for him when he finally came out.
Okay, now about Jenary’s story. It’s horrible what happened to her, but just like in the earlier episodes, it’s so awkwardly edited that it comes off like a producer-prompted conversation? And I fully understand that that’s how these things work but I do wish the production did a better job of stitching these scenes together because Jenary deserves that, you know? Because what happened to her is so crushing and I just feel like this reveal could have been told more elegantly?
On the day of the runway, the queens talk about why they think they should be in the finale and I don’t wanna comment on it since I don’t know the drag scene in Mexico so I can’t say if what they’re talking about is relevant or true or not.
The runway starts and it’s mostly stretch and spandex, I think? But what can you expect from a luchador theme? I really loved the wrestling skits they’ve included, though! And my favorite has got to be Eva Blunt’s because it really stood out from the other outfits on the runway.
It looks like the judges agree with me because based on the critiques, Eva is getting the win this episode and it will probably be Jenary and Elektra in the bottom. And with three challenge wins in her favor I think Jenary is going to stay and Elektra’s headed home. Unless they do another Luna and send the one with the most badges home.
And I’m right! Although to be fair, Jenary really earned that spot because the moment she started making it look like Elektra was a dog she was walking on the runway? You knew she was staying on.
