Ron Watches My Love Mix-Up! (Thai) Episode 7

So…I found out that this was only 12 episodes and the 12th episode aired like weeks ago. Since I’m not racing against time anymore, I think I’m going to take my time watching this now!

In the previous episode, both Atom and Kongthap were caught at the bottom of Wish Mountain holding hands by guidance counselor Homophobia. I know how they tackled this in the Japanese original, but since they were comfortable enough to change how the musical went, I’m also curious how this is going to turn out.

The episode starts talking about how there’s a Little Osaka in Thailand and how there’s a lot of Japanese influence there and I was just going to say maybe it’s the colonialism but then again the Thais were the only ones during World War II who weren’t colonized. I think? I think the Japanese just passed through the country but I am very open to being corrected!

Counselor Homophobia has called both Atom and Kongthap to his office to talk about the incident and Kongthap has big, heavy balls of steel and tells the counselor that he and Kongthap were going out. And then in barges their mothers and WELL this is certainly different from the direction they went with in the Japanese original. Atom’s mom says she’s disappointed and then Kongthap’s mom orders them to break up and that’s where I knew this wasn’t actually happening.

So, back to the real world, Atom and Kongthap are called to guidance counselor Homophobia’s office and Atom immediately comes up with a story to make it look like they’re just friends and baby. Baby. Anyways, it turns out that counselor Homophobia isn’t counselor Homophobia at all! He just wanted to return the towel that the guys left, that’s all! He might even be counselor Homosexual!

Atom tells Kongthap that maybe they shouldn’t be as close for now just not to raise any suspicions and then we get a product placement shot.

In fairness, this shot wasn’t as blatant as some of the other ones!

Anyways, since Atom is a homosexual, he can’t stop himself and tells Kongthap to feed him again and yeah I bet you wanna eat that. Like…take a look at this scene. They know their audience.

The MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY has to stop.

And it does, as we get back to the token heterosexuals of the story. Mudmee is trying to muster up the courage to talk to Half but just can’t do it. Fortunately, it’s Half who approaches her and basically tells her to go to the kitchen and bake him a chocolate cupcake for Valentine’s Day.

Meanwhile, Atom and Kongthap’s plan of not being too suspicious isn’t working out very well as they very vocally try to hint at what they want to get for Valentine’s. Truly, homosexuals are not known for their self-control.

Half barges in to tell everyone that the photos from camp are out and I guess it’s a thing in Thailand to take printed out photos of people you like from the school bulletin board? Why not just swipe it off of Facebook? Is this really a thing?

Anyways, while the rest of the school are looking at the photos, Atom and Kongthap talk about what they should be giving each other for Valentine’s Day and it’s going to be a surprise, I guess! But flowers and cookies for sure.

There’s a bit about a handsome senior who’s teaching them how to bake cupcakes but it’s doing nothing for me, sorry. Is this like a backdoor pilot for another GMMTV show? Sorry, not as familiar with their output! Anyways, they baka a chocolate lava cake with rum in it and I once got an allergic reaction to chocolate mixed with rum when I was in Bangkok and got sent to the hospital so that’s a not for me.

As it turns out, Atom has a sophisticated palate and the handsome senior is very insistent on giving him a lesson and Atom, baby, this is the woke LGBTQIA grooming agenda.

The handsome senior tells him to think of the person he’s making this pastry for and we get a cute little flashback to that time when they were preparing for the school play and they were making googly eyes at each other. However, all that does is distract Atom and he ends up “burning” his chocolate thing.

Meanwhile, the basketball team is being told that they shouldn’t be distracted by superficial things like dating now that Valentine’s Day is coming but it’s all a ruse. The team just wants to celebrate whichever one of them is dating but Kongthap hesitates and it’s a boring heterosexual that gets to spend Valentine’s Day off. BUT THEN, Kongthap steps up and says that he has something to share. DUN DUN DUN.

We don’t get to find out what Kongthap told the basketball team but we do get to see him eating out Atom. I mean, eating the chocolate lava cake the handsome senior made for Atom since Atom “burnt” whatever it was he was making. Then Kongthap tells him that he’s free on Valentine’s Day now since he told the team he has a prior engagement.

Now, I don’t quite remember the details, but I vaguely remember this part in the Japanese show confusing me a bit and I guess it’s not changing with this Thai version? But I guess we’re not headed in that direction because we’re using the good ol’ society is homophobic route. Which is true and valid but it’s 2024? And if we’re already being escapist from the get-go then why not commit?

And then things go off the rails after Atom says they should just break up after Kongthap says isn’t this reluctance to share their relationship a problem. I’m sorry but I rolled my eyes at this one. I prefer the Japanese version! Even if it confused me!

Counselor Not Homophobia catches Atom walking down the hallway and asks if they can talk about his aptitude test. Looks like Atom isn’t really sure what he really wants. Counselor Not Homophobia asks him to think about what it is that he really wants and will make him happy.

Back at home, Kongthap is being asked by his mom if he has a date with the person he went to the movies with and he has to say that they don’t talk anymore. Meanwhile, Atom is vegetating in his home, even if he’s the one that dumped Kongthap in the first place.

Valentine’s Day is in full swing at school and the heterosexuals are being all lovey-dovey and shit. Mudmee is leaving her cupcake on Half’s classroom seat but then overhears in the corridor that Half has already received chocolate from someone he likes. Mudmee is devastated and takes back her cupcake and throws it in the trash.

But Mudmee shows the same weakness for cock as any homosexual man and goes back to the kitchen where she threw her cupcake when she finds Half waiting there. She then picks the cupcake from the trash and consoles it and then Half tells her that he was just lying to everyone so he wouldn’t receive gifts anymore because Mudmee’s cupcake is all he wants now. Mudmee’s cupcake brought this one specific boy to the yard.

And Half even eats the cupcake! The cupcake Mudmee took out of the trash can! Girl if you don’t let him eat you out I don’t know what else you’re supposed to do.

We get back to the homos and Atom is helping out the handsome senior sell cupcakes at Little Osaka. The handsome senior says his partner gets made at him during Valentine’s Day and I don’t know if that means he’s also a homosexual who takes the bore worms?

Anyways, Atom and Kongthap are being silly gooses spending their Valentine’s Day alone or with their friends when they so clearly want to take each other’s bore worms.

AND THEN WE FIND OUT THAT COUNSELOR NOT HOMOPHOBIA AND HANDSOME SENIOR ARE TAKING EACH OTHER’S BORE WORMS. Yes, the bore worms!

Okay, so maybe I shouldn’t have been so hard on the break-up thingie because they managed to make that plot point work out in the end. The older homosexuals console Atom and tell him it’s up to him whether he wants people to know about him and Kongthap but it’s not his place to say if a love is wrong or not. And they tie it back with the reason Ida and Aoki broke up in the Japanese show.

After a mix-up — see what I did there — Atom and Kongthap finally find each other again and Kongthap tells Atom that whenever he isn’t around, he feels like something is missing. It’s a lot better when he’s there, and if Atom tells him that he doesn’t have to say it anymore but Kongthap does say it and formally asks Atom if he’d like to be boyfriends.

Atom is ecstatic and heads on over to the basketball team and tells them that he and Kongthap are together and then an orgy happens in the karaoke room. Well, no, but the team does their own version of “Well, we knew you were homos we were just waiting for you guys to find it out yourselves.”

And then we get a whole montage of happy couples! Yay!
