It’s Snatch Game week! I’ve had a busy few days which is why I haven’t been able to blog but my golly I’ll try to catch up now!
The previous episode saw Yudipota not so much getting eliminated but eliminating herself, and Khianna comes in saying that she didn’t deserve to go home and the camera zooms in on J Quinn. Tita Baby hopes that Yudipota doesn’t regret her decision and so do I.
J Quinn says she would have been safe anyways even if Yudipota didn’t self-elimnate and Khianna immediately says J Quinn’s akways been safe. And in the confessionals Khianna fully believes that J Quinn is the next one to go home.
Before we get to the opening credits Zymba declares that she’s going to be all in know and she’s going to be in the top and that everybody’s going to see a lot more from her and I don’t know girl, declarations like these usually mean you’re going to be in the bottom this episode.
The next day, it’s J Quinn who has a target on her back as Angel asks her if she’s happy with what she’s been showing the other queens so far. And then Khianna piles on saying that J Quinn is turning into an attention seeker. Damn, she’s getting her licks in from that first episode! And then Angel tells J Quinn that maybe she’ll be in the top this week and J Quinn goes home and either that comes true or the opposite happens. Those are seeds being planted that will pay off later in the episode, I feel, because Drag Race Philippines has been good with that so far.
It’s Snatch Game week, yes, but the mini challenge hit really close to home as they had a photoshoot imitating those notebook covers featuring the hit celebs of the 90s. I didn’t have one of those when I was a kid because i was trying to be cool but really I should have asked for those. Anyway, Khianna wins and they manhandle BJ and I think we may be the only iteration of Drag Race that does this to the judges? It’s hilarious!
The queens are told that it’s Snatch Game this week and of course Popstar Bench is going to be Sarah Geronimo because girl. Myx Chanel is going to do Rufa Mae Quinto, which the queens point out her drag mother Eva Le Queen already did during the first season. And it was a great performance!
The queens get a visit from Paolo and the incredible Jon Santos and Zymba already gives off bottom placement vibes because of how confident she is with her Wilma Doesnt choice. Never show confidence on any version of Drag Race because they will crush you!
Angel is doing Maria Clara which is…well, a choice. And so is J Quinn’s Confucious choice. Both these choices could be funny but you really need to be witty about it. And while Angel may pull it off I don’t know about J Quinn.
Snatch Game starts and it’s a little shaky, I gotta admit it, but these queens are great at interacting with each other. Maxie’s White Lady telling Khianna’s Baron that he’s drunk again? I was CACKLING.
Angel, despite my initial misgivings, actually does a great Maria Clara. And Zymba fulfills the prophecy by turning in a meh performance. J Quinn is also definitely going to be in the bottom because I don’t know what new story they’re going to tell with her.
And Kyle Echarri? They gays were skeptical but not only did he show pit and nipple but he got the queens to do one of the funniest bits of the show so far? In fact, his presence actually elevated Angel’s performance, I’d say. I had no interest in him before but I am curious now!
The next day as they prepare for the runway, Angel and J Quinn talk it out and…I dunno, sometimes I feel people use their mental health diagnosis to have their behavior excused? For sure it explains the behavior but at the end of the day you were still an asshole.
The runway theme for this episode is Gosh with the Wind and while I think most of the outfits look great they’re all that flowy fabric thing? Which I guess is just giving what the brief asked for this is why I am not a fashion expert.
Maxie, Khianna, and Popstar Bench are these episode’s safe queens but before they leave Mama Pao tells them that this was the best Snatch Game that Drag Race Philippines has had and I gotta agree!
Myx Chanel is up first for judging and she gets read, I fell rightfully so, for attempting a subpar Rufa Mae Quinto Snatch Game. J Quinn and Zymba are two other queens who’re definitely the bottom, while John, Tita Baby, and Angel are the top. And Angel rightfully gets praised because like Jon and Karen said, she really set the tone and gave all the other queens something to work with.
Obviously, Angel wins this episode, fully proving me wrong! And also obviously, J Quinn and Zymba are in the bottom this week. Fearless forecast is that J Quinn is the one that goes home this episode.
And I’m right! To be fair, she really did wash J Quinn in this lip sync. It wasn’t even a question.
