Ron Does Stuff

Okay, so I haven’t had the greatest week psychologically which is why the blogging has been zip, nada, zilch. Even with this one, I had to argue with myself on whether to do it or not. But I’m choosing to push through and hoping this “breaks the seal” and I get to start blogging consistently again.

Last episode‘s heartbreaking elimination saw John Fedellega go home, and the queens are really heartbroken about having to say goodbye to Mama John. But aside from that, there’s also still residual tension between Khianna and Zymba after Khianna criticized Zymba’s performance in Untucked. Popstar Bench is also feeling very insecure after being in the bottom two for the first time in the competition and being one of the two queens who still don’t have a RuBadge.

When the girls meet up the next day Khianna doesn’t remember anything at all from Untucked and honestly while I don’t believe in policing other people’s drinking when I don’t know them personally but getting so drunk you forget stuff is legit scary and concerning to me.

But we’re going to have to move on from that as Mama Pa enters the Werk Room and tells them that this week’s mini challenge is the reading challenge and…well the past two seasons haven’t really set a high bar, let’s just say that.

They’re doing the reading challenge by way of FlipTop and…well…this isn’t exactly Myx Chanel’s domain, let’s just say that. Myx is too burgis for FlipTop. Angel’s funny but…well…I wouldn’t say those reads were well-constructed. Popstar Bench is next and I feel like I’m going to get a stroke because mawma. Khianna isn’t any better and hopefully Maxie salvages this whole bit since she had a confessional where she says that she’s a FlipTop fan. AND SHE DELIVERS THANK GOD. They should have just aired just one read from all the queens and then aired all of Maxie’s reads.

This week is the makeover challenge and its their parents or loved ones that the queens will be making over. Angel and Maxie get their mom and dad respectively, Khianna gets her mom, Myx Chanel gets her best friend, Popstar Bench and Tita Baby get their boyfriends, and Zymba gets her mom. And this made me tear up? I don’t think I’ve ever been this emotional during a makeover challenge or maybe I am just in a vulnerable psychological state right now.

After a little cry, the queens get to work and Popstar Bench and Khianna both find out that they’re both doing Super Inggo makeovers. Coincidentally, I met Super Inggo himself a long time ago on a flight from Singapore back to Manila but I can’t find that photo anywhere now.

Maxie and Angel, on the other hand, really shows that your children can bloom if you support them. It’s too long to explain here but Maxie was a guest in a noontime show a long time ago and there he shared that his father supported him despite the Philippines being unkind — to say the least — to effeminate gay boys.

Khianna’s relationship with her mother, on the other hand, is a complete 180 from Maxie and Angel’s. The two of them only reconnected recently, and Khianna has a lot of resentment because from what I understood from her story, she was being made to parent her siblings even if she herself was a child back then.

Zymba’s mother also talks about her time as a leper and I hate being so callous about this but because Zymba already talked about this before it doesn’t hit as hard? I know, I am a bad person.

I was expecting Popstar and Tita Baby to have a chance to talk about their relationships BUT it’s only Popstar Bench that gets to do so WHICH just signaled to me that this is Tita Baby’s farewell episode. So sad to see you go Tita Baby!

The runway starts and between Maxie and Angel, I feel like Maxie did the better job. Now were the outfits great? I can’t say! Not really a fashion person. But they seemed…not as good. I also didn’t feel Khianna’s and her mom’s outfit.

I also didn’t initially get Myx Chanel’s makeover look but when I heard the voiceover it clicked and now I think it’s a good effort!

Popstar Bench’s and Tita Baby’s outfits…were okay, but Tita Baby had a slight edge because of the humor and the very obvious references to the very special guest judge, Sharon Cuneta.

From the critiques, it looks like Popstar Bench is going to be the bottom along with maybe Khianna? Looks like I’m wrong since it seems Tita Baby is going to be in the top BUT she’s probably going to lose to Zymba.

AND I’M WRONG! Tita Baby is just safe and so is Zymba, with the win ultimately going to Maxie. That’s three badges for her now and I think we got ourselves a frontrunner.

At least I got the bottom two sorta right with Popstar Bench and Khianna. They lipsync to Get Your Rebel On by RuPaul and I’m not really a fan of the outfit you’re wearing falling apart during the lip sync, especially when it doesn’t contribute anything to the performance. But since this is Khianna’s first time in the bottom and Popstar’s been there multiple times, it kinda makes sense for her to leave.
