Ron Watches Drag Race Philippines Season 3 Episode 9

We’re at the home stretch! The season finale is just around the corner, so let’s see who are the queens that are going to make it there!

The previous episode saw Zymba send Myx Chanel home, and now the queens are down to five people: Zymbading, Maxie, Angel, Khianna, and Tita Baby. Back at the Werk Room, Zyma is curious about how the top queens voted and well…she asked for it. All three queens said they voted for Khianna which of course makes Zymbading feel some kind of way. Maxie seems to placate her and I hope it really does.

The next day, Angel makes a joke about the eliminated queens returning and judging from the teaser…she may come to regret that. But apparently she’s referencing the “altar” they’ve constructed for the eliminated queens and Maxie jokes that Zymba’s wig fits right in. But that’s just for a moment because the one that really ground Maxie’s gears was Myx and her declaration that no one has done as much as her in uplifting the community.

And wouldn’t you know it the other queens return! Well we knew because we saw the teaser but the queens didn’t know. I do wish they didn’t reveal this in the teaser so we’d get the whole face crack moment like in All Stars 2.

But the queens won’t be competing again, it’s going to be an All Stars 3 thing where they’re a council and shit. Whoever they vote as the most deserving to go to the finale wins the mini challenge. Good decision on the part of production not to have them actually affect who goes to the finale!

At the start, the queens really don’t have any ~fiery~ questions but that changes when Myx and Zymba meet each other again and they rehash that whole not being able to pay for the package thing. But the heat is just a little simmer and eventually sputters out.

THEN WE GET MAXIE WHO FLAT OUT RESPONDS TO VERSEXX’S QUESTION BY NAMING MYX AND J QUINN AS THE QUEENS SHE DIDN’T LIKE. And then tells Myx up front that she’s an arrogant bitch and that she better stay humble because time will do it to her if she isn’t. Damn.

And then she rounds on J Quinn and even walks on over to her before Mama Pao clearly sets the demarcation line. MAXIE IS NOT HERE TO BE FAKE WITH YOU BITCHES.

When it’s Tita Baby’s turn it’s obvious that she’s going to win this mini challenge because she’s on the verge of tears and there’s sad background music and the queens look like they’re going to cry too. Which is valid but it’s not as fun televison!

Then we move on to the Maxi Challenge which is another performance number. Zymba is being a little too confident which just tells me that she’s the next one to be a bottom queen.

During the choreography practice, Tita Baby also looks like she’s going to be in the bottom because the teacher is taking a little more time teaching her the steps. Tita Baby, I want you in the top four so push through!

Once the performance starts Maxi really kills that opening. She really does have that star power! Unfortunately, Zymba has the next verse and while I don’t think it was bad I got distracted by how loose her top was and how her nips kept showing. Especially since Maxie looked so polished before her.

Khianna is also another queen that just ate on the runway which is, again, unfortunate for the queen who follows her who just happens to be Tita Baby. Why’d you pick this verse for yourself Tita Baby! She did okay but when you’re following Khianna who had lifts and jump/twisted into a split? You’re not gonna look good!

The runway theme is ball gowns and…I feel like most of the gown weren’t ball enough? I really liked Angel’s and Tita Baby’s though! I liked the idea behind Khianna’s look but that’s not really a ball gown if you think about it.

From the judges critiques, it looks like it’s going to be Angel and Khianna in the top and Zymba and Tita Baby in the bottom. Oh no, Tita Baby, please push through this!

But before we get to the lip sync we also get the what would you say to your younger self moment and honestly? I’ve never liked this part of the competition, from any version of Drag Race. I just think it’s too obvious a play on the audience’s emotions!

Zymba and Tita Baby are indeed the bottom two queens, and I feel like they want to send Zymba home because as Tita Baby said, titas and ballads are just an unbeatable combination. But let’s see!

And I really do think that Tita Baby won this one! Just like the previous lip sync, I think Zymba was doing too much. And it was a great song choice! Truly fit the desperation and desire for just one more day in the competition!
