Ron Watches My Love Mix-Up (Thai) Episode 11

One more episode and the show is done! Let’s jump right into it!

In the previous episode, Atom has made the resolution to get into a Bangkok university so that Kongthap and him don’t have to be in a long-distance relationship. Easier said than done!

But before we get into that, the show is hinting that something is up with the heterosexuals. Half is asking for advice from Counselor Not Homophobia and he’s told that it’s best to tell “her” as soon as possible and that “she’ll understand eventually”. Of course this could all just be a misdirect!

Back to the Homosexuals™, it looks like it’s going to be an uphill battle for Atom to get accepted in a Bangkok university because his tests have him at…the lower end, let’s just say that.

In the midst of all this, the class is set to perform a play once more and this definitely wasn’t in the Japanese original. Half is voted to play the Beast in the class’ adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, so Mudmee is throwing her hat into the ring because no random hussy is going to rub all up on Half if she has anything to say about it.

Mudmee totally botches her audition but story contrivances get her the lead role and oh boy I can already feel that I am not going to enjoy this foray into heterosexual concerns. There’s a bajillion shows about heterosexuals out there already!

Over where the gays are, Atom is trying his best to get his grades up and since he’s going to be taking up Food Business we get the perfect opportunity to push some product placement.

There’s also some cute feeding going on between the two of them, but of course I am going to prioritize screencapping that sweet, sweet product placement. The boys also decide to go to the school festival, since they won’t be acting in the play this year.

Meanwhile, the heterosexuals are back at it again with the heterosexuality. There’s a whole thing about Beauty and the Beast looking at the night sky and talking about the constellation Leo and I swear that wasn’t in the Disney film, which is what the class is adapting. But whatever it was Half was discussing with Counselor Not Homophobia really is troubling him and getting in the way of a successful rehearsal.

Atom, on the other hand, is beat from all the studying he’s doing, and while he’s asleep his mother looks through his things and sees the eraser with Kongthap’s name on it. Are we going to have a homophobic mother this late into the story? Because this show already did the fake out with Kongthap’s mother so I’m inclined to believe that this is going to be the real deal. It isn’t 2007 anymore, we don’t need to rehash Love of Siam.

At the school festival, we get a little product placement and then we get a cute little scene where Atom and Kongthap win themselves stuffed toys from one of the booths. There’s also some candy sucking and some dancing that unfortunately, Atom’s mother catches.

While that’s brewing, Half is still not manning up and telling Mudmee whatever it was that was insinuated at the start of the episode. But Mudmee manages to coax it out of him and the entire drama is about…him attending a different university. This is where I realize I am ancient because who the fuck cares. And this goes for the Homosexuals™ too but at least they resolved that already.

I know that this is a big deal when you’re a teenager but I’m at a point in my life when I just look at teenagers and yell at them to get off my lawn. Or say Who the fuck cares?

Back to the gays, Atom’s mom does a bit of deception and makes him leave Kongthap alone so that she can corner Kongthap. But it turns out it’s not because she’s homophobic — thank God — it’s just that she’s afraid that because of Atom’s abandonment issues, he might be devastated if he doesn’t get into a Bangkok university like Kongthap.

We go back to the heterosexuals and I get what they’re trying to do with the whole Beauty and the Beast thing but is this really necessary? I just think it’s a superfluous part of the story but maybe this pairing is popular in Thailand or something so they had to give them a longer arc than in the Japanese show. Anyways, they resolve their whole dilemma by promising to work on the whole long-distance thing and did we have to do the whole song and dance of it, really.

Meanwhile, the Homosexuals™ have gone to the school’s roof to do homosexual things like finding out one of them is scatterbrained and put in the wrong code for the university pre-test thing resulting in a tiny hiccup in their homosexual plan to go to a university in Bangkok. But that’s all resolved now with a simple check online where Atom finds he actually has a better chance than he first thought!

Being Homosexuals™, they also manage to lock themselves up on the roof which means they’re the only two people there which means anal. But they’re going to start with some kissing first.
