Ron Watches Drag Race España Season 4 Episode 5

Like I said in the previous post, I have unfortunately been spoiled with regards to who goes home in this episode. So this is basically going to be me finding out why that queen was sent home.

Angelita La Perversa is not taking Kelly’s departure well at all, even if she’s the one who sent her home. I do agree with her here — at least one of the weird queens needs to stick around until the end. But the rest of the queens don’t seem to think the same way. Or at the very least don’t think Angelita is a nice or honest person. They’re really gunning for her!

I would have said that the edit is coming for the weird girls as well, but to be fair, they’ve also shown the “pretty queens” being catty and spiteful as well. It’s been cattiness all around. It’s just that it looks like the weird girls are the ones unable to back their talk with action because I already know who’s going home in this episode.

Supremme finally enters the Werk Room and tells them that today is the day for the reading challenge, and Le Coco says in the confessionals that she wants to mess with the other queens. Let’s see if she delivers!

And…I dunno but the first two weird girls to read didn’t really do it for me. Or maybe I just don’t know Miss Khristo and Angelita’s references. and it also didn’t help that the edit didn’t make it look like the reads were successful.

In fact, I didn’t find a lot of the reads funny but maybe it’s because I lack the cultural knowledge or the translations are not as good. I did laugh at Le Coco’s King Tut joke and Megui clocking Chloe’s eyebrows. I also liked all of Vampirashian’s read BUT that could be because they were basic enough to be understood universally? The other reads could have been wittier and smarter but I wouldn’t realize it because of a lack of cultural knowledge. After all that, it’s Le Coco who wins the reading challenge.

Supremme then tells them that this week’s Maxi Challenge is the Snatch Game, so I’m looking forward to seeing what character it was that Miss Khristo picked that led to her being in the bottom this episode. I told you I was spoiled! I wasn’t spoiled on who would be joining Miss Khristo in the bottom, though, but from Angelita’s overconfident confessional I think it might be her.

Supremme brings along Pupi Poisson with her during the walkthroughs, and I’m struck with the two male characters the queens are choosing right off the bat. I don’t know who they are but for some reason this feels new? Although I could have sworn the past seasons have also had multiple male characters on Snatch Game.

When it’s Miss Khristo’s turn with Supremme and Pupi I immediately understand why she ends up in the bottom. You never do Snatch Game with a character you’re doing for the first time. That’s just a recipe for absolute disaster.

The Snatch Game starts and it’s a little slow for me at first but when Le Coco starts the Ana Locking tears I am laughing. Mariana looks to be a hit as well although the jokes don’t hit me as quickly because I don’t speak the language and I think the translation just robs them of that oomph. Meanwhile, Angelita miscalculated with her character and looks set to join Miss Khristo in the bottom. She’s talking about how none of the other queens are throwing her a line to interact with but you’re impersonating a newscaster! Do a “Breaking News” thing or something!

I do have to point out that this Snatch Game is taking a littler longer than usual — or at least it feels that way — so thank goodness for moments like La Niña pulling out a dildo from her pants. For a moment there it felt like the panel was going to erupt into Drag Race Philippines season 3 Snatch Game chaos but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

I wanted to put the actual Snatch Game but I couldn’t find one, even an Angel Galang cut!

The day after Snatch Game, the queens have a discussion about age and how people of a certain age become invisible. It’s a discussion I appreciate, since I’m very much in that “invisible” age bracket now. That grave isn’t far off now!

This week’s runway theme is Rural Fashion Week and Miss Khristo immediately has a strong entry that unfortunately will not save her from a bottom placement. I thought Vampirashian’s outfit was just okay but considering the personal meaning its components had I feel like the judges are going to give her additional points for that. Mariana’s outfit was something I didn’t appreciate initially but then I appreciated immensely once she did the reveal. That is how you do it.

Megui and Chloe are the safe queens this episode but they get two very different critiques from Supremme. Megui gets told that she was thisclose to being in the bottom because of her outfit — fair! — while Chloe is commended for her improvement.

With the critiques, it looks like it’s really going to be Angelita in the bottom, which doesn’t bode well for her if she’s ever in the bottom again. Battling it out for the top spot is Le Coco and Mariana, but I have a feeling Mariana is going to win this one.

And Mariana does win! Aside from the cash money, she also gets a facial treatment package worth €1,000. And as expected, it’s Khristo and Angelita in the bottom. Now I find out why Khristo gets sent home. Just like Mariana pointed out in the confessional, this was just a masterclass in lip syncing from Angelita. Miss Khristo didn’t stand a chance, even with the rose petals. ¡Adios!
