Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 6 Episode 7

We’re getting closer and closer to this season’s finale! Gotta say, I didn’t watch season five at all because I had lost interest in the show back then but this has been a fun season to watch!

Chanel went home in the previous episode and while I didn’t actively hate her like some people do online, I wasn’t exactly seeing what it was she was bringing to the show since Marmalade had already taken over the seamstress role. La Voix thinks the same as I do and I don’t know if that just means I’m old.

There’s the requisite congratulations to Kyran and La Voix for their double win, but what worries me is Charra’s confessional bit about next week being her time to shine. You just know when the production uses that sound bite you’re the next one to go.

The next day, Ru gets straight to the point and tells the queens that this week’s Maxi Challenge is the Rusical. But it’s going to be live singing so I’m just seeing this as another win for La Voix. Is it going to be Kyran versus La Voix in the finals? We shall see!

Kyran and La Voix even get an advantage right out of the gate, as they’re the ones who get to assign the roles to the queens. The choices are Cilla Black, Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Elton John, George Michael, Kylie Minogue, Adele, and Geri Halliwell. I only found out about Cilla Black when the memes came out I think last year?

Assigning the roles doesn’t seem troublesome at first, with Lill, La Voix, Marmalade, and Kyran getting what they want. The friction starts with Rilieasa, who wants to do Adele but doesn’t really have the singing chops for it. The friction is more internal, at least, because Rilieasa feels like she didn’t have a choice but Adele.

The actual fighting over a role goes to Actavia and Charra. Actavia feels like she can do Geri since it looks to be a dancing role, but Charra thinks it’s meant to be a funny role and thinks Actavia’s not funny but is a good dancer. And Actavia says the funniest line of this episode so far: “Two basic white boys fighting for the role of the basic white girl? Sounds correct?”

Actavia gets the Geri role but I actually think Lill had it right. Neither one of these queens really got Geri. Lill could have done it herself!

During the rehearsals, the queens who look like they’re going to be in danger are Rileasa and Actavia. Maybe Charra is going to be safe then! Or maybe not because she doesn’t get the best feedback during the rehearsals either. And she’s very much aware that this isn’t what she usually does.

Charra doesn’t feel any better when they start doing choreography, especially when the actual teaching of choreography happens and it is not good. I think she may just have to lip sync this episode and possibly even go home. And she was so close to a badge!

Lill isn’t looking too good either, and she’s another queen that hasn’t had a storyline to follow in the past few episodes. She’s also someone that’s likely to be in the bottom three along with Actavia and Charra. Kyran doesn’t do that well in the choreo either but we know she’s not going to be in the bottom. Safe queen at the very least.

The next day Charra and Actavia have a little chat about Kyran’s perceived overconfidence and I appreciate that the production hasn’t made them sound like assholes. I completely understand feeling a bit irritated by someone confident making you feel bad when you’re struggling with the current challenge.

The Rusical starts and I hate being so basic but damn the dancers? What’s their Instagram handles? Especially the short-haired one. That said, all of the queens did reasonably well, even Actavaia, Charra, and Rilieasa. In fact, I think Rilieasa did so much better than she was making it look like during rehearsals!

For the runway, the queens are doing Night of a Thousand Princess Dianas and it doesn’t look good for Charra because the judges think she looks more like Margaret Thatcher than she does Princess Diana. I think this would be the one that sends her to the bottom. In fact, other than Lill, it looks like the queens who may end up on the bottom are going to be sent there because of their outfits.

In Untucked, I really liked how Actavia owned up to what she and Charra talked about, and at least to me it didn’t seem like it was said in a shady way. And I also loved how Kyran was so mature about it, even thinking about how she should be more mindful about what she’s saying because she doesn’t want to come off as arrogant either.

Back before the judges, I feel like such a loser but I CACKLED at Marmalade not getting another badge? I just thought it was so funny that production really made her the Jan of the season. At least she didn’t make the Jan face but how long are the judges going to withhold that win from her?

And surprise, surprise Charra is safe this week. It’s going to be a Lill and Actavia lip sync and I guess it’s time for Lill to go because Ru just told Actavia that she just loves her. But then the lip sync song is “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show and you just know that’s a Lill song.
