Ron Watches RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 6 Episode 9

It’s the penultimate episode and everybody else has probably seen this episode already because I wasn’t able to catch it on the day of airing, but I don’t care! I’ll blog about it anyway!

Charra Tea’s departure in the previous episode was maybe the only bitter note in an otherwise sweet and touching episode. The queens genuinely seem sad for Charra too and wish her all the best outside of the competition.

They also seem to be genuinely happy for Marmalde’s win as well, and not in a fake “I don’t want to be dragged on Twitter” way because we all know that this season has seen its share of contentious competitors. The production seems to really have hit a home run with this season!

The next day, Ru tells the queens that the Maxi Challenge is going to be the roast and that they’ll be guided by roast winners from past seasons. Rileasa also gets to decide on the roast order as she was the one who won the lip sync in the previous episode.

At this point, I gotta disclose that I know who gets eliminated and who they land in the bottom with. I’m several days late to this episode after all! So what I want to find out know is how it all went down. How badly did Rileasa and Lill bomb?

Rileasa, as she pointed out herself, really did not do herself any favors by leaving the order to chance. Or the ancestors, as she calls it. Her ancestors probably got the lines of communication mixed up or something because it really did not do any favors for her or Lill.

Before the head on off to the actual roast, the queens get some pointers from Ella Vaday and Michael Marouli, roast winners from previous seasons. I’m not a comedian or anything but the advice they gave really sounded correct and helpful! And it’s always nice to see past queens getting more time on the show even after they’ve competed.

The roast stars and while Rilease has an okay start, she eventually falters and has to break up the flow of her set to look at her cue cards. Meanwhile, Kyran Thrax as Claggy Crevice was funny but I thought she would be funnier? If that makes sense. Definitely wasn’t a bottom performance but I thought it would be stronger.

Lill. Oh Lill. She really let the nerves get to her and forgot her entire set. Granted, it didn’t exactly start out with a bang but I feel like she would have been on the same level as Kyran if she didn’t forget her jokes? And her awful performance just made La Voix’s roast stand out even more. La Voix already had the jokes but coming after Lill’s set, you really just saw the difference.

I also thought Marmalade’s set was really funny but I think Michelle thought it crossed the line in parts? But does it really matter when Marmalade walks down the runway wearing this?

I also liked that Marmalade and La Voix took the vinyl prompt literally? It just made them stand out more because everybody else interpreted it as the material while the two of them decided to go with vinyl records.

La Voix wins, deservedly, and makes it to the top four of this season. Joining her are Kyran and Marmalade. I know that Lill is going to be sent home and when the song started playing it’s clear why she’s the one that sashays away. This is definitely not a Lill song so Rileasa trounces her easily. It also didn’t help that Lill’s outfit was so restrictive.
