It’s been a pretty busy week for me but thankfully, I’m free enough this weekend to post a round-up of this week’s book news!
Internet Archive lawsuit

The Associated Press reports that the Internet Archive is no longer going to contest the September ruling by an Appeals court in the US that upheld an earlier decision that found the Internet Archive violated copyright law by allegedly illegally providing free copies of more than 100 books, including titles from Toni Morrison and J.D. Salinger.
In a statement on the Internet Archive’s blog, the sites director of library services, Chris Freeland, said that the site will “continue to honor the Association of American Publishers (AAP) agreement to remove books from lending at their member publishers’ requests.”
Brandon Sanderson interview

Brandon Sanderson has an interview with The Guardian where he not only talks about the latest book in The Stormlight Archive series, but also shares some interesting thoughts on why his Cosmere books have been a hit and why he shouldn’t be the one writing the script for any Mistborn adaptation — at least not yet.
Trainspotting sequel
Full disclosure: I’ve never read the Trainspotting novel by Irvine Welsh. I did love the movie though and a pirated VCD copy of it was the only thing I asked from my parents when I graduated from high school. Me and my mom bought it at Harrison Plaza, which doesn’t even exist anymore!
All of that to say that Irvine Welsh is coming up with a sequel to the book that picks up right where the novel left off. So if anybody’s looking forward to that, the book’s coming out on July 3, 2025.
Indie author Vicky Ball’s viral tweet
After posting the tweet above, indie author Vicky Ball saw her book Powerless climb up the Amazon charts. The Guardian has an interview with her where she talks about what it’s like to be viral and how grateful she is to have people buying her book.
