Ron Watches Drag Race Thailand Season 3 Episode 10

It’s the season finale! Or at least I think it is. They might pull a Drag Race España and surprise us with a live season finale. Let’s see what the show has in store for us!

During the previous episode, we finally got out top four: Gawdland, Frankie Wonga, Spicy Sunshine, and Zepee. I will admit to not having watched the previous seasons to know if this is a first for the franchise but the queens look like they’re happy they’re a top four instead of a top three. Spicy and Zepee in particular are grateful for the double shantay. They also do this clapping thing that I wish they showed us more of throughout the season because it seems like something the queens shared with each other. Who are the story producers? Why was none of this shown?

The next day the queens are all building themselves up as the one that’s going to take home the crown, with Gawdland throwing some playful shade just to spice things up. I do have to say that the storyline for these four queens have been inconsistent or just not well-produced because I cannot for the life of me remember what made them stand out from the rest of the eliminated queens. Frankie Wonga’s Thai futuristic outfit is the only thing I remember and it’s no surprise that she’s the frontrunner.

The final challenge is making a music video for RuPaul’s “Bring Back My Girls” and…I’m tired. I know there’s no music video for it but I was hoping that they’d do a music video for a Thai song instead. I just want them to be like Drag Race España and really wow us with local musicians.

While the queens prepare to choreograph and style themselves for the music videos, they’re also going to be a chit-chat with Pangina throughout the day and i don’t know if they were extremely protective of their image but Frankie Wonga kinda underdelivered. There’s no standout dramatic moment that you expect from this talk and Frankie didn’t deliver.

Gawdland, on the other hand, delivers a story about how Drag Race helped her blossom even in the midst of a homophobic environment and how her win would represent a recognition of the current generation, the “new blood” of Thai drag. Unfortunately, neither Spicy’s nor Zepee’s talk with Pangina were as interesting. There was no compelling storyline!

During choreography practice, you don’t get a sense of who’s having trouble with it either, as they all seem to be having issues with it, or at least it’s edited that way. It’s going to be anybody’s game, I guess!

Before we get to see the top four’s performance, Pangina performs first and of course she’s great at it. She definitely did better than Mawma Pao — sorry! — and if host performances are going to be a mainstay in all franchises from now on Pangina is going to be the one to look at.

The music video is…well. It was a video with music. It was kinda like those interstitial snippets they showed during the finale of Drag Race Philipines. Pretty awkward.

Before we get to see the final fours’ best looks, we also get a parade of the queens who sashayed away and Shortgun definitely made an impression on me with that red outfit. She even had to judges clapping along. Siam and Gigi also bring impressive outfits with them in this last episode, although Gigi does trip on the runway. Then we get Nane Spehra’s outfit which is just gorgeous. I’d post a picture from Instagram but she doesn’t have a post about this outfit just yet!

It’s too bad for Frankie Wonga that Nane Sphere was right before her because now her outfit looks bad in comparison. Gawdland’s outfit, while good, is a bit of a letdown because she’s worn better outfits. Spicy also came after Gawdland and her beaded (?) outfit just made Gawdland’s look even worse.

The sashayed queens get one last shoutout from Pangina before they’re told to leave as it’s time to talk with the Top Four. Does he mean Pokemon? Is her still wanting a sandwhich.

Pangina now pulls out the picture of the queens as children and Frankie again misses an opportunity to cry onscreen and show some vulnerability for the judges. But just like all the finale episodes, the panel only has positive critiques for Frankie as well as the other queens.

During the final panel discussion about which queens are to move on next, it looks like maybe Gawdland isn’t going to make it, despite the one with the second-most badges? Are we setting up a Zepee and Frankie final lip sync?

Before we get to the final lip sync, last season’s Miss Congeniality, Maya Behalo, is called to the stage to award Miss Congeniality. The title goes to Benze Diva, which comes as no surprise since everyone called her mother during the time she was on the show.

And I’m right, it’s a Frankie and Zepee finale! At least they’re lip syncing to a Thai song! And…well, Zepee certainly had the most attention-grabbing theatrics. Frankie tried to do something as well but I guess it flopped because I couldn’t even figure out what it was. Looks like this is going to be a Zepee win!

AND I’M WRONG. Frankie Wonga wins! I don’t really know if she really did the best during the lip sync because Zepee really hogged the screen. But that’s that, I guess! Congratulations Frankie Wonga!
