Your Week in Books #16

Another week, another roundup of book news! Carla de Guzman, Christopher Nolan, and Komiket in Taiwan in this week’s edition!

Carla de Guzman’s “The Last Guy You Kiss”

I know, I know this a couple of weeks late, but I’m making an exception because I’ve been remiss in keeping tabs with local news, to be honest. So, in case there are still Carla de Guzman fans who still aren’t aware, she’s coming out with a new book with Harlequin in April next year. The Last Guy You Kiss is a Got 2 Believe retelling and if you don’t know what Got 2 Believe is, check out the trailer below!

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” adaptation

I can’t be the only one who remembers this The Odyssey adaptation being shown here in the Philippines?

Christopher Nolan’s just announced his latest project, which is an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey starring Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya. That’s about all the detail anyone has on the project but the discourse this started on Twitter? I won’t even touch on it. This adaptation is coming out during the summer of 2026.

The Philippine Book Festival call for exhibitors

The National Book Development Board (NBDB) is calling on publishers, booksellers, and literary advocates to take part in the Philippine Book Festival and become an exhibitor. Applications are ongoing until January 15, 2025.

The Philippine Book Festival is happening from March 13 to 16 next year. It’s also where I got my copy of The Secret of Derek Guerrero

Komiket in Taiwan

Komiket took part in the Taiwan Graphic Novel Festival that was held at the Huashan Creative Park from December 21 to December 22.
