I’m gonna be honest here. The first few episodes of this show, I wasn’t really feeling it. But they sorta got me with the ending of the last episode! Let’s see if that trend continues with this new one!
The ending to the previous episode had me all aflutter, and as we start out on episode six Po is understandably curious about the hug. Thame tells him that he just wants to make sure that he hasn’t been hurting Po but I think you should be more direct about what you’re feeling, Thame. He tells Po to cancel the rideshare he’s booked so that he can walk him home and while that is romantic, as a pewr I am worried that Po may get a low rating and have a harder time booking a ride next time. We poor people have to think about this! However, Po is thirsty and cancels that ride like it’s nothing.
After that opening credits we see Po putting on a shirt and I am like…did you put out not even on the first date? That swimmer’s body on Est though. Let’s not play around that boy is fine.
Of course, nobody put out anything and these two are still pure and unsullied but they sure do like messaging each other from the comfort of their own homes. Thame asks Po out on a movie date in a roundabout fashion, which I suspect is for this seeming product placement for complimentary movie passes. I’m watching this on Netflix so I can’t screencap!
Back at the office, Jun pulls Po aside as he’s savoring his and Thame’s text messages and Jun tells Po to tell the company that Mars has reunited and Jun’s behind the whole thing. I seriously am starting to think that it’s going to be a Thame/Po/Jun love triangle but that’s just me speculating. Po does what Jun tells him to do but it seems like the company knows something about Pepper that the rest of the group doesn’t.
We’ll have to find out about that later on as the guys strategize how to finish a whole song, promotion materials, and promotion schedule between the five of them. I’ll be honest, I was a little confused about the timeline ebcause how can you start shooting the MV without a song and without choreography all within the space of a month to three months? But I’m willing to overlook that this time.
With the comeback schedule sorta ironed out, Thame now wants some help squeezing his movie date in and Pepper tells him they should go out and play basketball to talk it out, which gives them the perfect opportunity to introduce a sunscreen product placement. I really wish I could screencap.
Anyways, we find out what it is that Pepper has been hiding. He’s in a relationship and that’s why he thinks he shouldn’t be in Mars any longer because idols can’t be in relationships. Again, this is one of the things that make me think that this was written by someone who’ only aware of the idols of years past and not this current generation. Things have loosened up a bit with regards to this. Besides, it’s not like idols haven’t been hiding their relationships for years now. Even Bambam has admitted to it!
What Pepper said about relationships and idols got Thame shook, though. Jun, on the other hand, is asking Po out to dinner. Am I right with this being a love triangle thing? Turns out I’m not, it’s just that Jun wants Po to know that Pepper isn’t going to be part of the reunion because he’s dating someone and Po should see this as a sign of where whatever is happening between him and Thame is headed. And I think the show is trying to fake us out when Thame visits Po at his uncle’s store and tries to tell him something that the audience doesn’t get to hear.
The next day, the boys scour Pepper’s Instagram account and soon figure out that Pepper is dating one of the company staff, the girl that’s always with that guy that played Mil from 2gether: The Series. HOWEVER! Turns out they were just being heteronormative because it turns out that Pepper is dating that guy that played Mil from 2gether: The Series! BUT! It turns out I’m heterophobic because it’s actually chicken essence girl that he’s dating! If this is a real product that bought product placement they got their money’s worth!
Once they’ve got that figured out, Thame does his thing and reaches out to chicken essence girl and Pepper, taking care of the one thing blocking the group’s full reunion. We also get to “hear” what Thame said to Po the night before, which is that he should take care of himself. And even I know that that can sound like Thame telling Po that they’re over. Pepper is right, Thame is dumb.
Thame visits Po at the store again, telling him that he told Pepper he can continue on with his relationship, while also doing some product placement or at least that’s what I think that drink is. But I did find cute that Thame tells Po to just walk at his own pace and that he’ll adjust to his rhythm. And then they have this whole “no, you say bye” thing in the lobby of Po’s building and it’s cheesy and sweet and I am so single you guys.
