Wilhelm is not having it and by it I mean his mother’s control over his life. Let’s see if he manages to throw off the yoke of royal duty in this episode!
(Trigger warning: I mention suicide nine paragraphs in.)
At the end of the previous episode, Wilhelm has threatened his mother and the royal court with quitting after he sees Simon on a date with local hottie Marcus. He’s also stopped taking his mom’s calls, even if the queen is already calling Hillerska’s headmistress like she does at the start of this episode. what Wilhelm is doing is staring forlornly at Simon as he practices singing with a piano.
Elsewhere in Hillerska, Sara is celebrating her 18th birthday and gets an expensive pair of jodhpurs from the girls. She tries to refuse it at first but then the girls tell her that it’s tradition and they all chipped in for it anyway, just a couple of hundred Swedish krona. Which is almost everything she has in her account, as shown in the previous episode. This lifestyle is not for you, Sara.
Simon meets up with her later on in the day and after singing her “Happy birthday” in Spanish gifts her with jodhpurs, except from a less expensive brand than the ones the girls got her. She tells Simon to just return the jodhpurs and get the money back but before we get into that prickly discussion Rosh and Ayub videocall Simon and ask him if he’s going to go another date with Marcus? Apparently Marcus has asked to watch a movie with him and Rosh and Ayub are convinced that Marcus is going to ride Simon after that movie. Sara approves and even tells Simon that at least Marcus wouldn’t need saving. Good thing Wilhelm isn’t here because that one would have stung.
Wilhelm and Simon have PE together and Wilhelm is being a little wuss and can’t make himself interact with Simon like a human being. Couldn’t even pass him that ball in whatever Swedish game it is that they’re playing. You should be directing that anger at someone else!
That someone else is, of course, August. Wilhelm continues to upend the Hillerska traditions that August holds dear, which in turn makes the rest of the senior students angry and curious about what it is that Wilhelm has on August. Wilhelm is quick to pounce on that, telling one of August’s lackeys that they could just oust him from being prefect.
Wilhelm and Simon have another class together and it is awkward once again, with the two of them being snide at each other. Wilhelm makes fun of Simon’s wish for some space, while Simon makes fun of Wilhelm being unable to be true to his feelings. However, they can’t get further into sniping at each other because Wilhelm is being called out of the classroom and out of the school because of his threatening phone call to the monarchy.
Through some under the table texting Simon finds out from Felice that Wilhelm is being pulled out of Hillerska and Simon quickly grabs the sweater that Wilhelm’s left behind. Oh Simon you big softie.
Back at the dorms, Wilhelm is refusing to leave while August is praying that he does so he can restore “order” back in the boys’ dorm. It gets physical inside Wilhelm’s dorm and in the scuffle, a keepsake that Erik passed down to Wilhelm ends up getting smashed. It disorients him enough that he finally answers a call from his mother, who proves once again that the monarchy is more important to her than her children.
The Queen tells Wilhelm that they’re okay with him being gay and that they just want him to come out on his own terms and that the only reason they said he couldn’t see Simon was because of the sex tape but honestly I hate this woman so much that if I were Wilhelm I would have killed myself. Now you don’t have both your sons. I don’t believe her when she says they can have a conversation about Wilhelm coming out in the future and it’s supported by the fact that when Wilhelm asks her to be his mom for once she just barrels on and fights for the monarchy instead.
Wilhelm gets to stay after negotiating with his own mother and August is not happy about it. Fortunately for him, he’s the rowing team captain and he can channel all of that anger and frustration into “coaching”. Wilhelm, unfortunately, channels his frustrations at Simon and he gets embarrassed — or should have been embarrassed — when he finds out that Simon tried to plead his case to the school principal. Now you look even more like an asshole.
Wilhelm tries to get Simon to be with him, even in secret, since he believes that his mom is going to be cool about it when he turns 18, but Simon is a model homosexual and doesn’t want to be Wilhelm’s secret, especially since he lied to the world about the sex tape and left Simon in the lurch. How can Simon trust him? That said, the facial expressions Edvin Ryding pulls during this scene? Great work.
Over at the slumber party for Sara, they play a sorta Truth or Dare game and the first question is how many people have they slept with and I don’t know if Sara is lying or not when she says she hasn’t slept with anyone. I do agree when she says why have sex with someone when you can cum on your own because honestly. And when Sara snoops and takes a look at the conversations between Felice and Wilhelm I genuinely began to fear for what her storyline is going to be.
Back at home, Simon is sniffing Wilhelm’s sweater and my god. I applaud you for your backbone standing up to him despite being this down bad for him. And then he wears the sweater. Baby. Baby. Then he writes this sad song about what happened between him and Wilhelm and my goodness. But I guess Simon realizes how down bad he is and messages Marcus to get a ride of a different variety.
He goes on over to Marcus’ place where they literally are about to watch a movie on Netflix and Simon is really committed to making Marcus a rebound because he kisses him first and the placement of that HUGE remote control is hilarious.

But then Marcus stops Simon and tells him that he didn’t invite him over just to have sex and that they don’t need to rush it but what if Simon wants to rush it? I do think that Simon needs to be honest with Marcus that he’s just a rebound because Marcus looks like he’s serious about whatever it is they may have.
Simon isn’t the only one in their family making horrible decisions though, because Sara tells August that it was Felice that ratted him out to Wilhelm and Sara. Sara. Felice has been nothing but nice to you. How could you? I have never in my life yelled at a girl like this.
But that isn’t even why she went there in the first place. She kisses August and then rubs up on his thigh and then tells him that she wants to have sex with him. My goodness these siblings are something else.
Meanwhile, Wilhelm is at his mom-mandated therapy session and he doesn’t open up about anything there. I mean, Simon clearly has a point if you can’t even rant to a medical professional. As much as I love Felice I don’t think Wilhelm needs a yes man at the moment.
Over at the boys dorm, August’s minions are planning their coup. They’re fake to his face about it too, which really does not bode well for August’s time as prefect. He might not even see it coming. It doesn’t help that he immediately shoots a snide comment at them that he thinks is funny but really is just more ammunition for them to use against him.
Elsewhere in Hillerska, Felice is taking Wilhelm shooting to take his mind off things but unfortunately, the guy that’s going to help them out is Marcus with the humongous remote control. He already has big hands and there was still plenty of remote control to go around!

Wilhelm reveals to Felice that Marcus has been going out with Simon and that maybe Wilhelm didn’t mean that much to Simon if he’s moved on that quickly and Wilhelm. Wilhelm. He’s wearing your sweater and writing a song about you. Simon has not moved on. He’s just distracting himself with a humongous remote control. Felice, ever the reliable girl friend, tells Wilhelm that not only is he better looking that Marcus, but that he should spend more time with Simon and show Simon that he can trust him. So that he can thrust into him later on, eh, eh, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
While that’s brewing over at the shooting range, the coup against August has succeeded. So quick! But they haven’t just removed him as prefect, they’ve also removed him as team captain. Damn. He runs into Wilhelm on the way out and tells him that Vincent — finally get the guy’s name — is going to be worse than he ever was. Wilhelm is nonplussed.
Wilhelm is also implementing his and Felice’s new plan. At rowing training the next day, he manages to spend some alone time with Simon and I think he should be proud of himself because Simon couldn’t even admit to going on a date with Marcus. He’s still not over you, Wilhelm!
In the locker room, it’s all about mobile phones because Wilhelm takes a look at Simon’s phone where Marcus has left a message thanking him for last night, while August has received a voicemail from the royal court asking him to meet with the queen. I hate that bitch.
