At the end of the previous episode, Ga Min strolled into what is definitely the wrong Seoul school. What’s going to happen to him now?
We’re not going to find out just yet what’s going to happen, because we’re checking out what might be a flashback to Han Wul’s relatively younger years, where he’s beating up a bunch of his classmates from a former school, I guess. But it’s not a flashback! It’s the present day and Han Wul’s apparently forced another school to download the ranking app he has going at Yusung Technical. And apparently it’s to overthrow his own father!
Over at the Seoul school that they’re visiting, Ji Woo and the gang are getting looks from the Seoulites and honestly I think Ji Woo should have socked that snotty student in the face. But it turns out that the students from this fancy school are being bullied by the students in the decrepit school that Ga Min mistakenly went to because of the wrong text Ji Woo sent in the group chat.
Okay, so here’s my thing with this one particular scene where the poor kids of the decrepit school are bullying the rich kids of the better school. Let’s not pretend like rich kids aren’t as vicious or as physical when they bully. And yes, I know that this is a black-and-white world that the show operates in but I hope that those watching it know that the real world isn’t as black and white.
Ga Min enters the school and it is darkly funny how positively he views what is obviously a bad school. But he is sorta protected for a bit by the reputation of Yusung Technical because they think he’s here to extend the school’s territory. Ga Min catches on soon enough through his own dumb (affectionately) way and beats up the bullies. Or at least the minions, because the school’s main bully is up next! Either way, the result is the same. He beats him up!
With one of the rich kid study group members rescued, it’s now a more harmonious exchange to idea between Ga Min’s group and the Seoulites. And then we find out that the guy Ga Min saved from the neighboring school bullies was one who had rejected him from a study group when they were still in middle school! How the turn tables!
Back at Yusung Technical, the guys finally get a club room of their own, although it does need a little but of cleaning. Cleaning montage! While that is happening, Han Kyeong is doing administrative stuff to try and get Han Wul out of the school. We still have five episodes of this show to go so you already know it’s not going to work.
The gang are done cleaning up their new study room, but their celebrations are cut short by Ho Min, the top-ranked fighter in their year level. He’s raring for a fight but the gang doesn’t do anything about it. Ga Min does want to beat him — in academics. Which is going to be tough to do because Han Kyeong reveals that he placed 219 in a class of 220. Don’t worry Ga Min, you’re hot and you can punch people, usually that’s enough! Han Kyeong has a plan, though, although the show doesn’t reveal it just yet. What it does reveal is that she’s been given the mission to raise everyone’s ranks in the study group by 10 places, which really does seem like a difficult thing to do.
Aside from the obvious academic difficulties most of the group is suffering, Se Hyun has had a rough childhood, with an abusive father that really does not believe in schooling. He does get some encouragement from Hee Won, which is quickly undermined by them running into Ho Min while outside.
Ga Min steps in to save them, but he feels embarrassed about exposed as poor and having to work in a construction site. He also fells inferior towards Ga Min, which really is something we left behind several episodes ago. He also has yet another frustrating episode with his father and I have got to tell you guys that maybe I’m not in the right mindset to watch this show right now because my anger issues have me shouting at the bullies and Se Hyun’s father and wishing really bad things on them. And Se Hyun’s insecurities and him being a drama queen? I am over it.
Se Hyun runs into Ho Min again, but thanks to Ga Min breaking his curfew and coaching him through the phone, Se Hyun manages to get a few punches in. However, the true moment of victory for Se Hyun is when he manages, by chance, to knock out Ho Min without any coaching from Ga Min. I hope that’s the end of the moping from him but since we’re just halfway through the show I’m thinking there might be more of that down the line!
