New episode let’s go! I was actually writing something else while waiting for this to appear on Wowpresentsplus and dropped that immediately once this appeared.
No one went home the previous episode after Arrietty successfully picked the lever to dunk Michelle into the tank so of course she’s very happy about it. Lydia has more complicated feelings about it. She’s happy that she beat Arrietty and sorta sent her home, but she’s also happy that Arrietty pulled the right lever and stayed because the clique Arrietty’s in right now won’t pick on her.
Suzie is also happy about her second win, even if the other queens — Lexi Love — thinks her lack of fashion sense makes everything questionable. Now whether she does lack fashion sense is up for date since taste is subjective, but what’s pretty objective fact right now is she has two wins.
The next day, the queens are asked to get into glory hole drag — a pussycat wig, chacha heels, and kneepads — for the mini challenge, which involves transferring Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks from one glory hole to another using only their mouths. After a lot of time spent on their knees, Team Ru made up of Onya, Suzie, Lexi, Sam, Lydia, and Crystal win the $3,000 cash prize.
They’re then told that this week is the Ball challenge, with the categories being Bathing Beauties, Sea Creature Couture, and Sea Sickening Eleganza. As has been tradition for the Ball challenges ever since the season three one broke the queens, only Sea Sickening Eleganza has to be made in the Werk Room, but they’re going to be using unconventional materials.
After the usual scramble for materials, it’s Lexi who believes that she has a shot in this challenge, especially with this blue tarp that she’s picked up. And knowing what we know from the teaser to this episode, something is going to happen to whatever it is Lexi is creating. But that’s something for later!
What is happening now is friction between Lexi and Sam as the materials they’re using are kinda similar. They’re making different outfits but since we know what we’ve been teased with, is this foreshadowing that Sam is going to do something to Lexi’s work?
During the walkthroughs, Ru points out that Hormona tends to favor the hourglass silhouette a lot and while Ru’s not asking that she deviate from it now, judges may point it out further down the line. Of course, now Hormona is gravitating towards another silhouette. Why do I feel she might end up in the bottom for this? Acacia also sounds like she may be in the bottom because she hasn’t really worked with unconventional materials before.
The next group made up of Arrietty, Suzie, Lydia, and Lana get some critiques from Ru because she tells Arrietty that yes you deserved to be in the bottom and then tells Lana that your hems are unfinished. Ow?
After the walkthrough, Acacia calls everyone’s outfit in the confessionals ugly and while I am laughing, girl your outfits in the previous episodes weren’t all that great either! They weren’t bad but they were boring. Is this foreshadowing that you’ll be in the bottom?
We then find out what actually happened to Lexi’s work. Since she and some other girls were using spray paint, they were doing it outside of the studios and somebody got brown stains on her work. Lexi breaks down especially when none of the queens admit to doing it. Once she’s outside though, Onya admits that it was her and Arrietty who did it, thinking that the tarp was just trash tarp that wasn’t being used. I screamed.
Once Lexi is outside again and tells Arrietty about it, Arrietty fesses up about her part in the spray paint incident, while Onya is inside saying it’s not the right time for her to apologize for her part in it. Which is a bad decision on her part because Lexi eventually figures out that the brown stains were made by Onya working on her outfit and Lexi confronts her in the Werk Room. It feels so much like earlier Drag Race seasons and it’s not even on Untucked.
Thankfully, cooler heads prevail the next day and Arrietty, Lexi, and Onya resolve the spray pain incident and apologize to one another. Now that that’s over and done with, Lexi and Sam both agree that among the outfits being made, Acacia’s is the one that looks the worst for them. I can’t judge, but I did want some potatoes after Sam kept talking about it.
The runway starts and for the first category, I think only Arrietty and Lexi were the ones that stood out for me and only because Arrietty was blue, literally a different skin color from everybody else, and Lexi was naked. I just have a hard time appreciating a swimsuit because how many variations can you do with it? Lydia’s maybe would have interested me but the color of the fabric made it so I couldn’t really see the penises? penii? right so I thought it was just the one.
Sea Creature Couture is up next and I think the outfits are better with this one. I loved the orange color of Jewels’ outfit and Arrietty’s lionfish outfit? Pretty. I also think that this is the best that Kori has looked so far!
We finally get to the outfits that the queens made and maybe Acacia was right? I’m not liking a lot of these outfits! Some weren’t bad, to be fair, but it just wasn’t eye-catching or attention-grabbing, if that makes sense? Arrietty is maybe the best out of all of them. I don’t know how Law Roach is going to react but we know how he did the last time.
Jewels, Lydia, Onya, Suzie, Kori, and Lexi are all safe, which must be a relief for Lexi considering how much she reacted to spray paint gate. Critiques start and Crystal, Sam, and Arrietty are definitely the top queens, while Acacia, Hormona, and Lana are the bottoms. Lana finally gets her wish to be critiqued and I definitely understand her when she said she should have been grateful to be safe because I think she got the worst critiques in the group. And that’s even with Law Roach being nicer compared to when he was last on the show!
Arrietty wins this week’s challenge while landing in the bottom two are Hormona and Lana, which is a surprise to me. I thought it was going to be between her and Lana! The lip sync starts and…it’s just as meh as the final runway of the ball challenge. Send them both home! However, it’s Hormona is the one that gets sent home this episode.
