The season finale is just around the corner and I really am hoping for a second season in case they don’t resolve everything in 10 episodes. This was definitely much more enjoyable than I expected!
At the end of the last episode, we saw Sun Chul admit to the killing of a man as part of the whole scheme that Han Wul’s gang runs in the neighborhood. The kids are given lots of money and a job in the construction business of Han Wul’s dad so long as they take the fall for the crimes that adults are committing.
This episode starts with Sun Chul’s grandpa looking for him in his hospital bed, with Sun Chul’s bodyguard buddies not knowing how to respond to that. They also try to make it sound like they’ll be visiting in Sun Chul’s stead in case Sun Chul gets too busy. And by busy they mean serving a three-year prison term. Which isn’t ideal, because it seems like Sun Chul’s grandpa is about to die any minute now. So the pair resolve to repay the gang for whatever it is they owe them and maybe get Sun Chul back.
Meanwhile, Ga Min and the gang are still stuck in the gang building, trying to get back the knife that was used in the killing and present it as evidence. Lee Jun is still stuck in a fight, while Ji Woo is caught between two guys and is down for the count. Ga Min is still stuck on the rooftop and because Han Kyeong makes a call asking about the test printout, it looks like he may be up there for a while.
Multiple things then go wrong for the gang — Ga Min drops his notebook and it lands on the actual adult killer, while No Reason shoots down the drone the gang were using to keep track of everyone and he sees that it’s Hee-won’s property. Se Hyun and Hee-won decide to involve themselves directly with the heist and I don’t know if that’s a good idea!
Sun Chul is with the police detective and has confessed to the crime, but thanks to some smart obfuscation on the part of the detective, it becomes pretty obvious that Sun Chul doesn’t know anything about what happened and is being forced to be the fall guy. The detective manages to convince him to not be the fall guy and he comes back to rescue Ji Woo from the thugs! And it’s not just Sun Chul but Sun Chul’s bodyguard buddies as well!
Sun Chul and his buddies aren’t that good at taking on the actual gang member, but they do give Ji Woo the opportunity to escape. However, she just can’t take the gang member demeaning the guys so she ends up confronting him instead of making a clean escape. However, even with her help, they still can’t beat the gang member, which is of course when Ga Min steps in.
Ga Min’s got his nunchucks with him, which I assume was in the bag, and I like the pretty obvious referencing to Bruce Lee here, even with the background audio. The show knows its references and isn’t afraid to show it!
And it’s a fight where Ga Min actually mgiht have to work for it! Their first meet-up ends with Ga Min being thrown off, but it turns out that just like any manga? manhwa? hero, he was just assessing the thug’s strength. he then delivers a punch that just decimates the thug and I gotta say it was hot! Doesn’t hurt that the guy delivering the punch looks like this.

With Sun Chul safe, the gang now takes on the school midterms and of course this is Ga Min’s true vulnerability. He’s deeply insecure when it looks like he’s the only one among the study group that got the answer wrong. Will he end up failing the test again? He’s certainly out of it when he hangs out with the guys after the exams and I definitely remember that feeling even though it’s been centuries since I’ve taken an exam.
Turns out that Ga Min just loses focus after midterms and can’t control his own strength and I thought he would end up hitting one of the study group but thankfully the show doesn’t go that way and instead has him destroy a punch machine so rather than eating at a buffet the gang has to eat at a convenience store. Which isn’t so bad because I’ve had some convenience store meals when I’ve been short on money and they can fill you up! And that’s considering I eat at a ~Global South~ convenience store and not in a South Korean one.
Thankfully, Se Hyun is here to lift Ga Min’s spirits up, telling him that while the incremental changes happening with Ga Min may not seem like a lot, it’s all building up to a boiling point where he’ll then see a big change.
Near the end of the episode, Sun Chul manages to see his grandfather take his final TOEIC exam, thanks to Ga Min and the study group’s efforts. Props to the actor playing Sun Chul because he really puts in the work in this episode! I almost cried!
Finally, the midterm exam results come out and…HE CLIMBED UP 10 PLACE FROM 219. With the study group members all rising up 10 places, Han Kyeong’s deal with a school administrator to call a disciplinary committee meeting for Han Wul goes into effect. However, a massive fight breaks out in the school, which I’m guessing Han Wul instigated to bog down the disciplinary committee meeting.
