It’s been another past few hectic days of work, which is why this is very late. But I’m catching up!
At the end of the last episode, Thame and Po finally get down and dirty and like I said in the previous post, I’m still surprised they’re allowing these hot young men to take off their shirts and make out with each other on Thai television.
And what do we get as the opening scene but the two of them shirtless in bed. This malicious gay faggotry has to stop!
Thame is even doing the watching Po while he sleeps things and the homosexuality is off the charts. after they get dressed and everything, Thame and Po can’t seem to look each other straight in the eye and I can just imagine what filthy homosexual things they did to each other the night before.
Back at the dorm, the rest of Mars pelt Thame with confetti because apparently it is his first time? Am I misunderstanding this? Either way, they’re happy that Thame committed homosexual acts the night before. Another thing they’re happy about is that their song hit number one on yet another chart, making it easier for them to deal with the company later on. That is if the company is going to stand by its word because we see anything put into writing and the music industry parts of this show often feels like it was written for Wattpad. The side of Wattpad that doesn’t have the good stuff because Wattpad has good stuff too, I’m sure.
The happiness doesn’t last long, however, because it seems like somebody caught Thame going to Po’s condo and now it’s all over the internet. BUT, it turns out it’s actually Pepper who’s been caught with essence of chicken lady, which I really should have expected because if Baifern is like any fangirl, she would have celebrated any of the Mars guys hooking up with a guy. Or at least if Baifern was a cool fangirl.
The fans turn against Mars because of the dating scandal and I wish I could say this doesn’t happen anymore but it still does! It’s one aspect of the idol industry that I’ve never understood because do you really think you’re going to have a chance with these people? Let’s not even talk about foreign idols, let’s stick to the idols in your specific countries. Just like fetch, it’s never going to happen.
To the guys’ credit, they are supportive of Pepper and Thame even tells him to be with essence of chicken lady during this trying time. Pepper and the lady have a cute interaction but it’s all heterosexual and stuff and do we really need more heterosexuality in our lives? That’s what I thought.
One thing the heterosexuals do right, however, is figure out that the leak was intentional so as to cripple their chances at earning a PAK, thus ending their planned reunion and sending Thame by himself to South Korea, where he will no doubt be readily accepted by the not-racist South Koreans who have always thought favorably of Southeast Asians, especially Thai people.
Thame heads to the office to meet with Pemika and it turns out that Pepper’s ~scandal~ was leaked because the leak site had pictures of Thame and Po and the heterosexuals were the ones sacrificed to the internet gods because Thame is a much more important asset to Pemika. Ouch.
Po, meanwhile, has been moved to a different artist and is now working with Ice, portrayed by Joong Archen who I only know because his shirtless photos always appear on my Twitter timeline.
It’s good that Ice is a bro because he readily helps out Thame and arranges a meet-up between the two. The two hug in a closet and boy isn’t that apt symbolism. Some might even say it’s too on the nose.
Their homosexual shenanigans are cut short by the closing of Mars’ biggest fanbase, which just happens to be run by Baifern. I can’t say that I have any sympathy for Baifern here because I don’t have any sympathy for real-life people who do this when idols are found to be dating. Sorry not sorry!
The course of action that Mars decides to take is actually something I want real-life idols do, which is to question this crazy rule that they shouldn’t be dating during their time as an idol. That’s absolutely bonkers. It’s a different thing when you’re so busy that you can’t date, but when you’re prohibited to date, ever?
Po also reassures Baifern but like I said before, I really do not feel any sympathy for idol fans who raise a stink about their idols dating, especially when they’re fully-formed adults. It’s something I don’t think I’ll ever understand. And then the show shows essence of chicken lady getting attacked online because the fans have identified her as Pepper’s girlfriend and my lack of sympathy for fans like this become even more entrenched.
Mars’ plan is suddenly waylaid by the company, who suddenly announces that it will be holding a press conference to address the situation. All of this is with essence of chicken lady’s consent, by the way, because she met with Mars’ company before the press conference was decided.
Unfortunately, it ends the same way idol relationships often do — Pepper and essence of chicken lady break up. I don’t know if this is a great move on the part of the show. You’ve already done some illogical music industry things at the start of the show, so why not continue breaking the rules on this one? I hope this ties up neatly with Thame and Po’s relationship by the time the show ends but I don’t have faith in that happening.
We then find out that essence of chicken lady agreed to break up with Pepper because the scandal was impacting their chart positions and she didn’t want to imperil their career, since a lot more than getting number one was on the line. On the one hand, it’s about time the heterosexuals sacrifice something. On the other hand, the way this was handled just doesn’t vibe with me for some reason.
