We’re inching closer and closer to the season finale! Let’s see who’ll end up in the final four!
Arrietty went home in the last episode, after a lot of drama. Arrietty is also ensuring that she leaves with the maximum amount of drama as she leaves a mirror message that references Onya’s medical condition that she is deeply insecure about and one that she shared in confidence. I think Arrietty way overstepped here, at a minimum. But we do get a little taste of last week’s Untucked, which really was one of the better ones of the season.
After the queens comfort Onya, they then switch to celebrating Lydia, who finally won her first challenge! At least for the first few seconds because Sam has to express her disappointment at not winning afterwards. In a good-natured way, to be fair!
In the Werk Room the next day, Onya has already bounced back about the mirror message Arrietty left for her and it really does make her stand out from the rest of the queens even more. Winner energy! We also find that Lexi dreams of Suzie and Lydia is wearing Kori’s sweater!
Ru finally enters the Werk Room and we find out that it’s going to be an acting challenge for this week’s Maxi Challenge. Of course, picking the roles is going to result in drama and in this particular challenge Suzie and Jewels are the ones fighting over a role. Suzie gives way to Jewels, which I think just means she’s going home this episode because the last time Suzie did this Acacia went home.
And that might just be what happens because Jewels does not know the history at all. I mean, that doesn’t necessarily mean an elimination but Arrietty just went home and there’s no one else Jewels is in conflict with. The production could just be building the storyline that will culminate with Jewels’ elimination in this episode. Especially since they’re showing the other teams like Lana and Onya and Lexi and Suzie getting along swimmingly.
Lydia and Sam might be the two queens joining Jewels in the bottom because it looks like they’re just not gelling as a group. While Sam is impressed by Lydia during their reading of the script, she’s afraid that Butthole’s butthole might just squeeze up when they’re actually on set. See what I did there?
They start shooting the acting challenge and it looks like Lana is going to do well! I don’t know if it’s a winning performance since I haven’t seen the others yet but she takes direction well and it seems like the finished product is going to be funny. I do think that the judges will say that Onya overshadowed her, which is just something to be expected at this point.
Lydia, however, is being set up for the bottom as she once again doesn’t deliver a performance with ~layers~ during the shoot. I found it funny but I do understand when they tell her to camp it up because you do have to go for the broadest possible audience and sometimes dry or understated acting isn’t the right approach for that.
Lexi, once again, falls victim to her inner saboteur because she totally panics when Suzie gets praised during the shoot and begins to flub her lines. I hope she doesn’t lash out at other people again because that was not a good look for her in the previous episode.
Jewels, as expected, does not perform well when it’s her turn. Whether that’s because she was the last to shoot or she just doesn’t have the skill or the range is up to the audience to decide, but she is for sure going to be lipsyncing again in this episode and possibly even going home because. It’s between her and Lydia at this point because production is not going to send Lexi home.
Before we get to see the final result we get the runway first and this episode’s theme is Black and White Ball. Sam, Lydia, Suzie, and Jewels’ looks are the ones that I like the best but once again, I am not a fashion person so those with actual knowledge might know better.
Lana and Onya do great so they’re in the top six for sure, and you know what, I think Lydia and Sam did great too! And so does Suzie and Lexi. Even Jewels did well! Who’s going to be in the bottom then? Is this going to be a double shantay? But they already did the two saves with the dunk tank!
Then we see how production is doing it — you did well, but you were just overshadowed by your scene partner. Lana and Lydia get that critique, while Lexi get criticized for her runway instead because it is her bajillionth train, to be fair. Jewels is clocked for sounding like she didn’t know what her monologue was referencing, although the judges did love her outfit.
Adding to the drama is Ru asking that dreaded question: Who should go home and why? Suzie gets the brunt of it, with Onya next in line, and I gotta say I really love that the queens just outright name their biggest competitor rather than going “Oh her because she’s got the most bottom placements.” The only ones who did that were Suzie and Onya and that’s to be expected because they’re the ones on top.
Onya and Sam are the top queens of the week with Onya winning her third challenge, making her the frontrunner and putting a nice big target on her back. Jewels is safe — that got a gasp from me — and I am thinking it was her outfit that saved her. Lana and Lydia are the bottom queens and they lipsync to “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Lydia immediately wins the lip sync for me with the face she makes with the censorship *ding*. I kept on repeating it and repeating it! And then she immediately lost it with the scissor fumble. Good lord, you had the win in your hands and you fumbled it.
