Ron Does Stuff

It’s been weeks since I watched this which really isn’t much when you think about it since this show hasn’t been on the air since…well a look at Wikipedia shows THIS SHOW IS STILL AIRING. FUCK. Do I want to watch the whole thing? Let’s see if I can handle it.

Where we left off: The Geordie boys being homophobic, another Jay and Vicky fight, and Charlotte trying to wean herself from Gary’s parsnip.

This episode: I guess I am an old man who will, unfortuntely, stop watching this now.

This episode is a reunion episode and it opens with an British? host that I’ve seen previously on The Graham Norton show but I can’t recall his name at all. I think he still has a job as a host, until now?

The Geordies enter the stage and we also get shots of the crowd and I am reminded of Trixie Mattel talking about how there’s something that isn’t right with British DNA and…I kinda agree. These white people look crunchy. And they’re probably younger than they look! Like way younger! Holly was just 19 when Gaz probably sexually assaulted her in the first episode!

I do appreciate(?) that this reunion seems to be taking the piss when it comes to the guys, but I think this is just normal British behavior? We get a sort of vocabulary lesson as the reunion’s first segment and I gotta say I don’t think I can handle any more of this show much less 23 MORE SEASONS. I am not as energetic as I was when I was in my 20s. I am now old and wrinkly and knocking on Death’s door.

Maybe it’s just me, but during the Vicky and Jay interview segment Vicky looked very uncomfortable about how she’s been portrayed or at least how her relationship with Jay has been portrayed. Does she stick around longer after this? Do I wanna watch to see if she does?

There’s also some tension between Gary and Charlotte where Charlotte maintains that she is living parsnip-free but according to Wikipedia she definitely partook a few more tastes of that parsnip before she swore off it. This is just sad to watch, honestly. And I don’t know if the har-de-har-har way they’re treating it in this reunion helps out.

Maybe it’s because I’ve got a cold and my head is pounding but Greg sounds even more unintelligible in the segment featuring him. James is…a non-entity for all he’s contributed. Also the parents of these kids? I don’t think parents should be overly strict with their children but it’s like they’ve gone the opposite extreme. Oh god am I the old person in the room now?

And maybe I really am that old man because Sophie’s parents being okay with her Year of the Slut declaration and my head, you guys. My head hurts. Maybe it’s the cold I have or maybe this is just too much for me and my old person brain. I can’t do this anymore.
