This show definitely likes blowing things up because after we saw Dante’s head get blown off in episode three, we saw Air Force Two get blown up in the previous episode. So which one is it going to blow up this time?
Dante and the rest of the people inside Air Force Two are plummeting down to Earth at the start of this episode and Dante doesn’t have a plan on how to save his own skin, much less the rest of the pople. Mary is also in a figurative and literal tight spot, as she goes into what I assume is the residential complex’s garbage chute to evade the demons hunting her. She still doesn’t know about the shapeshifter, who has unfortunately caught up with her.
Up in the air, Dante does some of the shit he does in the only Devil May Cry game that I’ve played — DmC: Devil May Cry, the least loved of all of them. I’m not an expert animator or anything but I found this sequence thrilling and enjoyed it! It also looks like Dante’s Devil Trigger might be…triggered…at any point now.
Over at the demon residential complex, Mary is starting to rethink her stance on demons after her encounter with the demon family. We also get to see why she has that chip on her shoulder. During the course of his research on demons, her father tried injecting what I assume is demon blood and turned into one himself, killing Mary’s mom. Unfortunately, this is where the shapeshifting demon makes his presence known and Mary isn’t as successful as Dante at fighting this demon. But she does figure out that the shapeshifter has been tasked to infiltrate DARKCOM and maybe she can help him out with that — if he lets her live.
And it was all a ruse! Mary knew the plant demon was coming and convince the shapeshifter to take her form, leading to the plant demon killing the shapeshifter. Smart! This also lets Mary ambush the plant demon, so now she only has the winged one to worry about.
Dante also manages to turn things around in mid-air as the Devil Trigger is finally triggered, giving him a demon form that helps in saving everybody falling down from the sky. My question now is do the clothes transform as well or will he be butt naked once he turns human again?
It doesn’t look like Dante isn’t turning human anytime soon though because he beats the shit out of the wind demon and only stops doing it when the demon residential complex where Mary is in explodes, making him think that’s where his mom’s pendant is.
Over at the residential complex, Mary delivers a rousing speech telling the Makaians — the ordinary demons — and the DARKCOM team that they aren’t supposed to fight one another and that the true enemy is the demon bunny. However, something tells me that things are going to go horribly wrong.
Things are already going wrong for Dante, as it looks like his Devil Trigger has run its course and he isn’t even at the demon residential complex yet. He does get one last burst of energy to finally make it and Mary comes in with the save and dispatches the wind demon for him. Unfortunately, the demon bunny has outsmarted them again as he isn’t there in the building at all.
But there is something more sinister going on that Mary didn’t expect. While she successfully advocated for the Makaians, the vice president is telling off the DARKCOM team for peacefully rounding them up. Are these DARKCOM people going to kill the Makaians?
Up on the top floor of the complex, Mary has figured out that the demon bunny needs Dante’s blood to bring down the wall to hell because Sparda used his own blood to put it up. And the demon bunny is confident enough in Dante’s arrogrance to declare that Dante is going to meet up with him anyway.
Elsewhere in the complex, turns out the shapeshifting demon still isn’t dead. And now that he’s already taken on the form of Mary, I’m guessing he’s going to be even more successful in infiltrating DARKCOM. Although for now, he’s only using the form of the grunt he shapeshifted into earlier.
However, it doesn’t look like the shapeshifter isn’t going to be around for the next episode, because the vice president gives the order to kill all of the demons, even the peaceful Makaians. The shapeshifter witnesses all of this on the surveillance cameras and decides to blow up the whole building, with him in it.
