At the end of the last episode, we saw Kian, Jin and Ye-Eun trying to cook dinner not just for the first two guests, but the next two that were set to arrive that same night. Let’s see how things turned out!
Just like I thought, the “cliffhanger” at the end of the last episode was just a fake-out as Kian was able to light the blowtorch to light the cooking fire without anybody getting hurt. They do get smoke in their eyes because there’s no chimney in the B&B annex and the 21-year-old guests tell the production that Kian has no future as an architect. I have some thoughts about Kian and why he’s considered funny in Korea but they’re all tangled up with feelings about how racists Koreans can be so I’ll just think those thoughts in my own head.
While the rice cooks and Kian, Jin, and Ye-Eun unpack, the two female guests arrive and get on the monorail. By the time they arrive at the annex, only the two other guests are present to welcome them as the rest of the staff are still unpacking. Jin is not having it with the haphazard way that Kian is running the B&B. He has to take the reins and even calls up Chef Baek Jong-won for some advice and everyone else is impressed, I think? Because he really is a big name in Korea. He also glares at Kian to make him help out which is definitely fair in my opinion.
Speaking of Chef Baek Jong-won, watch the YouTube show he made with Jin where they make homemade alcohol!
The two new female guests share a little bit about their lives as they eat. One of them is a retired (!) 23-year-old synchronized swimmer while the other is a 20-year-old who’s dreaming of becoming a flight attendant. That’s all we get from them right now as they end the night and go to sleep, but not before Jin gifts Kian and Ye-Eun the pajamas he made for the Artist Merch collection. Pajamas that I would have bought because they’re selling them at a pop-up here but I have no money and it’s hot in this country.
The next day, yet another guest arrives and after giving him a cursory welcome, Kian goes back to sleep. Jin gets back to work after getting himself ready, washing the dishes for the guests. Ye-Eun also makes soy milk for the guests after getting ready, while Kian finally washes up for the morning. The weather looks like it’s better as well, so they decide to move to the main B&B.
That’s going to be later in the episode, though, because the guests have to be dropped off at various points on the island as they have activities planned for the day. Kian takes one guest with him and his motorcycle with a sidecar, while Jin drives the car with the rest.
After dropping the guests off at the city center, the crew heads on over to the main B&B, which is now out of the port and on the open sea. I think that’s what it’s called? It’s out there! Although not that far because it’s not even a kilometer away. We also find out that Ye-Eun was made to get a boating license before the show started and now she has to pick up the guests using the boat and take them to the B&B. Which may be a tough challenge for her because the moment they get out of the port and the waves are stronger she literally falls on the floor and the supervisor? takes control of the wheel. Are you going to drown the rest of the guests?
The struggle doesn’t stop there because they still have to climb a rock wall to get inside the main B&B building and this was before Jin did the Run Jin rock climbing episode. To Kian’s credit, he manages to make the climb and even helps Jin get in.
And speaking of Run Jin watch the rock climbing episode below!
The three of them explore the rest of the B&B, picking out their hanging beds and try to figure out how to get out of the dining room because it can only be accessed via pole. Kian said he didn’t want people to easily access the dining room and he definitely succeeded because Ye-Eun can’t even go down the pole and him and Jin have to work together just to get her down and up.
