Ron Watches Kian’s Bizarre B&B Episode 4

I’m going to catch up on this show by the end of this day, I swear!

At the end of the previous episode, the guests at the B&B were woken up early in the morning by rain. Most of the guests, at least, because Jin is still fast asleep. Most of the guests also move inside, although some wait it out in the rain, including Jin.

Everybody else wakes up around 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and Jin has to literally climb out of bed and look for his military slippers, which Ye-Eun “borrowed”. This results in early morning bickering that I enjoyed watching, if I’m being honest.

Kian is the last of the B&B’s denizens to wake up and it’s yet another round of him feeling sorry for how he’s set everything up in the B&B. Guests have to climb up with all their morning stuff and I understand that it’s a lot to ask for in the morning!

It’s also time for the first two female guests of the B&B to leave and while I’d usually roll my eyes at them being so appreciative of Ye-Eun when they’ve only been there a few days, the sheer challenge of the B&B probably sped up closeness between everyone by a lot. Everybody else goes exploring, with the KAIST guys out with Ah-Jin and the climbing team with each other’s taut, muscular bodies. I mean what?

While the guests are out, Kian, Jin, and Ye-Eun plan tonight’s dinner. Kian wants them to eat curry with their hands, which is just how some parts of the world do it, but of course it’s a new thing for the rest of the staff. I sorta side with Kian on this one. Get over it and eat the food with your hands! After washing those hands, of course.

They then get another call from the latest guests, which will be a dad and his two sons. They’ll go to the port by 3 p.m., so Kian goes back to look after the B&B while Jin and Ye-Eun buy the necessary supplies. I was a little worried with leaving Kian alone in the B&B, but it looks like he’s going to do okay as he tries to open the “swimming pool”, which is an attachment to the barge that fences the guests away from the rest of the ocean. There’s also a paddle boat and a banana boat! I love banana boats but I don’t think my frail and decrepit body can handle them anymore.

Kian also starts cleaning the toilets and…well, it is a hard job to do, I’ll give him that. I hate doing it and I only need to clean up after myself and not a bunch of other people. He’s also doing it in the pouring rain son fine, fine. Let’s give him that.

However, that pouring rain means that the climbing team and their muscular bodies can’t do much for the day, even when they wipe the rocks with their shirts and leaving their tight, muscular bodies exposed to the pouring rain. They decide to go back to the B&B again, where Kian is making questionable souvenirs by embossing? drilling? the guests’ names on their meal tray. I feel like drawing them as webtoon characters would have been easier but I’m not the one on the show, am I?

The newest guests arrive and they definitely did not expect having to take a boat or the B&B being on the ocean. The father is worried for his kids and I don’t blame him! The younger looks especially flabbergasted. This is not his French vanilla fantasy.

But being kids, they acclimate quickly enough, climbing up the rock wall and are even the inaugural users of the B&B’s water slide. It does look fun to go on!

Elsewhere on the island, the KAIST team are doing some field work, looking at the unique flora and fauna of the island since it’s never been connected to the main Korean peninsula. And the sound like they really do know their stuff! I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell one plant from another or one ant from another but they’ve even got the scientific names memorized!

Ah-Jin, being a carpenter and architecture student, is looking at the island’s architecture, and I really have to commend this show for making it as much about the island and its places of interest as it is about the B&B. That structure that Ah-Jin visited looked really interesting!

While the KAIST guys and Ah-Jin managed to do what they wanted, the taut, muscular bodies of the climbing team were not as lucky. Min-Seob — 안녕하세요 Min-Seob! — calls the B&B and tells them that if the weather forces them to come back early, they’re going to help in adjusting the rock wall.

However, the B&B faces a surprise challenge when Kian injures himself going down the slide. He hits the railing directly in front of the slid and while they didn’t show a lot, what I could see did look gnarly. It was certainly gnarly enough to require attention at the public health center on the island.

Sorry to say this though, but things were probably easier for Jin and Ye-Eun with Kian out of the way. Jin gets the food ready while Ye-Eun entertains the guests with a game of Halli Galli. Min-Seob and the rest of climbing team’s taut, muscular bodies work on the rock wall. His absence also lets the crew install safety reinforcements on the B&B, such as mats in front of the slide and a rope on the slide, as well as mats to the bottom of the pole.

I also find out that Jin doesn’t know how to cook rice! I assume he doesn’t know how to cook rice with a rice cooker, but he learns quickly enough by watching a video on YouTube. The rice, of course, is successfully cooked as is everything else, and Jin even follows Kian’s wish of eating with their hands even if he isn’t there to make them do it.

I did find it funny how when Ah-Jin and the KAIST team arrived saying they’ve already had a meal, everyone insisted that they have to eat the curry as well. And eat it with their hands. While Kian feels a little guilty about making them do it, they acclimate to it soon enough and even start talking about what foods would be difficult to eat with their hands.

Kian and Jin have a talk in the tea room afterwards, where Jin reassures him that the guests having a nice time is just as much because of his as it is Jin expertly managing how the B&B is ran. He does have prior experience from BTS World, after all!

After dinner, the climbing team’s taut, muscular bodies help everybody up so I’m a little worried when they inevitably have to leave the B&B. Jin can’t do it by himself! But that’s going to be somethign to worry about in the future. For now, the KAIST team and the father and sons go back on the island to look at some bugs, and Kian is just super appreciative of how reliable Jin has been throughout the experience.

Up in the mountains, the KAIST guys and the father and sons team have a great time looking at bugs. It’s not for me, personally, but they had fun doing it! Fun that is kinda derailed when the car the dad is driving hits a rock. Ooofff. At least the staff act quickly and tell them to sleep in the staff’s lodging instead.
