I am finally getting on track with this show! Hopefully I can watch the new episodes next week the same time they air!
(CW: cancer)
At the end of the previous episode, we witnessed a heart-to-heart talk between Kian and the dad of the two kid guests as they share their history with cancer. It’s a rare quiet and poignant moment with Kian and very moving and hopefully it all works out for the dad.
At the start of this episode, guests are leaving the B&B. The KAIST teams are up first, leaving before Jin can even get in his morning wash. Or at least I thought they were leaving but they’re actually picking up one of the students of the KAIST guys. I thought he was joking around with Kian about inviting her over to the B&B!
After bringing the student over to the B&B, Ye-Eun takes the dad-and-sons guests to…Dokdo? Isn’t that a military installation or something? We’ll have to find out later because the KAIST guy is showing his student around the B&B. Even the other guests didn’t think the student would seriously visit the B&B! The tutoring session starts at the tearoom but quickly moves to the dining room as the wind is too much over at the tearoom. They’re going to have to move again soon because how are people going to eat? But then I remembered they don’t serve breakfast here so I guess it’s the best place for them! Whether she actually learned anything during that tutoring session is something that she’ll have to share if she wants to.
As the guests prepare to leave, Kian tells them to write messages on the walls and Min-Seob — 안녕하세요 Min-Seob! — gives Jin a 90 degree bow because why not. They start to make their way back to the port but one of the KAIST guys realizes he left his phone and his card in the B&B and they have to turn around. Of course, Jin gets to emphasize his good looks once again, saying he’s too good-looking not to miss. Of course!
With the guests gone, Jin initiates a clean-up of the B&B and can I just say he looks good lugging those wooden planks or whatever around? Meanwhile, Kian and Ye-Eun don’t know how to spell rags in Korean. It can happen! Once they’re done labeling and washing the rag(g)s, the two of them start cleaning the second floor. Kian also cleans the toilets while Jin starts preparing their lunch since Ye-Eun already washed the dishes the night before. And the noodles Jin makes look delicious!
After lunch they start doing the laundry which I honestly don’t like doing either and I don’t even have to do them by hand. But they push through it and manage to finish that as well. Quite a productive day to be honest, even without any guests around!
Meanwhile, the dads-and-son guests arrive at Dokdo and I guess it wasn’t a military installation like I thought. It’s just bare islands but as I know from the situation with my own country, bare islands count for a lot when it comes to territory and geopolitics. After the tour, they come back to the B&B to check out but before they do, Jin asks the eldest son to play badminton with him since he didn’t get to do it during their stay there. And the kid appreciated it so much!
Once they’re gone, the B&B staff have a little bit of free time. Kian’s painting something while Jin starts to cook dinner, which is just as well because five new guest are coming later that night. Jin continues to tidy up the place for the new guests coming in while Kian makes a portrait for the dad-and-sons guests that I really thought was sweet and touching, especially when he gave it to them later that night.
When the new guests arrive this time around they’re not as hot as Min-Seob — 안녕하세요 Min-Seob! — but they definitely would be a big help on the B&B when it comes to tasks since they’re much more physical than the KAIST team. And they’re rowdier, in a good way! The four guys are college graduates and a college student while the lone guest is a former MMA fighter who now works in a hotel.
We get to see a bit of drill instructor Jin as he orders the guys around and then all the weightlifting guys go into the changing room and change at the same time??? What is this MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY?
All the new guests and Jin use the water slide and of course Jin is going to include a shoutout to ARMY. Come on now. After that, we get another scene of them eating dinner with their hands and since they’re all rowdy guys it’s a quick adjustment period for them.
