The new Chasing Waves cover, Dolly Parton’s new book, the Philippines at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, and Día del Libro in this week’s edition.

‘Chasing Waves’ cover reveal

This was supposed to come out in last week’s Your Week in Books, but I had personal stuff going on so I wasn’t able to post anything. But I’m posting now!

Bianca Mori’s revealed the new cover for Chasing Waves on her blog, where she also talks about the new stuff she’s added to the book. Check out her blog to read the blurb as well!

Dolly Parton’s new book

Fans of Dolly Parton have something to look forward to later in the year as the country superstar is putting out a book this November titled Star of the Show: My Life on Stage.

As reported by People, the book will feature Dolly’s “decades-long stage career, beginning with her early years performing with country singer Porter Wagoner.” It’s the third book in her autobiographical trilogy, with the first two books being Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics and Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones.

You can pre-order the book on her website!

The Philippines at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

If you’re a Filipino book lover in Abu Dhabi, check out the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center next weekend as the Philippines will be taking part in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. As mentioned in the National Book Development Board’s Facebook post, this will be the country’s debut at the fair!

Lea Salonga to star in a prequel film for ‘The Vale’

I’ll be honest, I’m only hearing about The Vale now but it looks like this middle grade book isn’t just getting published this September 16, it’s also going to come out with a prequel short film starring Lea Salonga.

People reports that the short film is directed by the book’s author, Abigail Hing Wen, and will come out alongside the book. Wen’s previous book, Loveboat, Taipei, was adapted into the Paramount+ film Love in Taipei starring Ross Butler, Nico Hiraga and Ashley Liao.

Día del Libro 2025

Another thing happening this weekend is Día del Libro at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. The event starts at 9 a.m. and will go on until 11 p.m. If you haven’t been to one before, it’s going to feature book market activities, book presentations, author signings, free Spanish classes, Spanish cuisine, street art, games, storytelling sessions, children’s activities, concerts, and a lot more

‘Amor’ at Día del Libro

Speaking of events happening at Día del Libro, Mina V. Esguerra of Romance Class will be talking about writing new adult romance at the event. The talk starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 10:15 a.m. and is organized by Vibal Foundation in partnership with Instituto Cervantes. Look for her at the Main Stage!
