Ron Watches Young Royals Season 3 Episode 1

It’s the final season! Let’s get into it!

We saw Wilhelm kind of burn the whole thing down in the season two finale after he admitted that it was him and Simon in the sex video that circulate in the penultimate episode of season one. How is that going to affect the way things stand in this final season?

The first episode of this final season opens with Wilhelm’s mom being on the meds, I guess? If this was meant to make me sympathize with her, it is absolutely not working because if she had just been a supportive and understanding mother and didn’t put the crown ahead of the happiness of her child, all of this could have been avoided. But then we wouldn’t have the show, I guess?

So, the meeting is about arriving at a settlement with Simon’s family, which is the reason why August is also present at this meeting. I don’t know if Sara going ahead and reporting the crime fixes things, but I’d like to see how they deal with it in this season.

The way August’s attorney is dealing with this whole shebang, though? Diabolical. The video is innocent, he says, since being gay isn’t seen as something disreputable, which of course sets Simon’s mother off. We find out that since the truth has been exposed, fucking right-wing groups have been targeting Simon and his family. His poor family that doesn’t have the protections that Simon and August’s wealth brings them!

One thing that August’s wealth — although that is questionable — doesn’t protect him from is perception, and he’s having trouble dealing with the fact that people see him as a shitty person And props to his lawyer for telling him “Yes, you are a shitty person.”

Over at Simon’s side, their attorney is telling them to accept the 1.2 million Swedish krona settlement, which is more or less P7 million based on today’s exchange rates. Simon’s mother wants to bring this to court, but Simon is understandably tired of it all already and goes to the ~bathroom~.

The bathroom? Some room in the palace where Wilhelm sees him is where he actually goes. And just like the homosexuals that they are, these two start making out. Boys, your families are locked in a legal battle? This MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY has got to stop!

The boys get instant karma, though, because Simon’s mother tries to end the settlement because she wants to take it to court, which results in August’s lawyer spilling that Simon sold his father’s drugs at Hillerska and Wilhelm threatening August with a rifle. Things devolve from there and only stops when the queen tells them to shut up. Once again, if you hadn’t put the crown above everything else, you wouldn’t have this problem now!

So, in the end, the settlement gets signed and the queen has a breakdown because everything’s crashing down around her. She has what I think is a panic attack but again, if you hadn’t put the crown above everything else, you wouldn’t have this problem now! Maybe you’re grieving Erik’s death and that’s what’s really driving this, but if you had just said that instead of making Wilhelm feel that the crown is above all else, then maybe things would be different!

The kids are back at Hillerska and Felice is going through what I can only describe as a depressive funk. But the news of Wilhelm’s arrival brings a little pep back into her step, so let’s hope that the arrival of the gay best friend really pulls her out of it.

On his way to school, Wilhelm is being advised on how to spin his MALICIOUS GAY FAGGOTRY into a positive. He’s going to be the face of a progressive royal family! However, it comes with Simon having to lay low, and I think the royal court is being a little classist here because Simon has been nothing but discreet about this whole thing. It’s August that leaked the tape!

Things are breaking down at Simon’s home as well. Because of the whole drug’s revelation, Simon’s mom has him taking drug tests and has grounded him for the rest of the semester, and now Sara is getting the blowback from Simon, and she at least gets my sympathy because it’s not wrong to trust the person you’re in love with. When that person breaks that trust, it’s that person’s fault, not yours.

Back at Hillerska, reporters are circling around the school, asking about the initiation rites, and it makes me think that August is going to somehow leak information to get Simon exposed and Wilhelm removed. He’s already leaked one thing before!

One thing he won’t have to leak are pictures of Wilhelm and Simon making out because now that Wilhelm is out, they kiss right in front of everyone at the lockers. Right in front of everyone’s salad!

The two of them make plans to have a little staycation over the weekend despite Simon being grounded and I guess royal dick really makes you come back quick! Simon, you are going to get grounded until you’re 40.

Over at the boys locker room, Vincent is making fun of August sleeping with both Felice and Sara and also makes a joke about how he and Wilhelm can both take a bus to the ~slums~ since Simon and Sara are both part of ~the poors~. Lemme just say that as a resident of the ~Global South~ I would kill to be in the ~slums~ Simon and Sara are living in. August stands up for Sara, but she’s not there to see it. And as for Sara? Rotting in bed in their own home.

And it’s not just August who has feelings for Sara. Felice misses her despite still being angry at her, and I like how this show is also showing that friendship break-ups can be just as devastating as romantic break-ups, maybe even more. I hope Felice and Sara can patch things up somehow.

Simon, on the other hand, is experiencing what it means to be in the center of a social media maelstrom, again. But this time it’s even worse because the people now know it really is him and Wilhelm in the tape. And it doesn’t help that Marcus and his big remote control have spoken to the press about ~troubles~ in Simon and Wilhelm’s relationship. I trusted you, Marcus!

Wilhelm, on the other hand, is looking for relationship advice, specifically how his brother Erik handled being in a relationship while in the public eye. He doesn’t get the advice he wants from Nisse because it’s the same advice he gave him back in season two episode four, which is date within your own circle.

But that’s going to have to take a back seat as a bigger problem explodes on the school. Someone’s done an exposé on the school’s initiative rites — probably Alexander — and now they’re being threatened with closure, effective immediately, unless they show that they’re a safe space. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s probably the best thing to happen to these entitled richies in a long time.
