It’s not much, but it’s something. Work has eased up a bit, but quite frankly, is still crushing and dispiriting. There was supposed to be two entries today, but my brain just can’t handle doing more than one thing today. So I’m just going to put this out and hopefully things ease up. I’ve also got a long vacation coming up so there’s that to look forward to!
If episode five saw Aek being a submissive little bottom, the previous episode teased Win being a doormat and agreeing to help Lin confess her feelings for Nut. What was all that lesbianism with Biu then?
But we start this episode with a look back at episode one, with Lin and Win in front of Nut’s grave. We’re reminded that the thing between Lin and Nut didn’t go anywhere, as all Nut ever wanted to talk about was Win. LIKE. The clues are right there, Win!
But THEN, whatever this is turns nightmarish as the original timeline adult Lin starts blaming Win for the lack of traction and action between her and Nut, and original timeline Nut even joins in blaming Win. This is obviously a dream sequence. But if this means that the gay character is going to give way to the straight character, I will be very cross.
Back in the present, Win is helping Biu set up a photo exhibit and gently confronts her about her crush on Lin. Biu tells Win that she’s going to tell Lin about her feelings, and I think Win not telling her about Lin’s planned confession to Nut is a calculated move. Now, will Biu appreciate not being told about Lin’s plan? We’ll find out later, I hope!
The next day after band practice, it turns out that Win does intend to keep his word to Lin, as he stymies Biu’s effort to tell Lin how she feels. Lin finally gets to tell Nut how she feels, and…we don’t get to see how Nut responds. I mean, he isn’t repelled by it, but we don’t outright hear him reject or accept Lin’s confession.
Over at his home, Win is sad that he gave up on Nut, but at least he thinks he’s giving Nut what he wants. And while all this may have been A-Ok back in the early 2000s or whatever, I just can’t with a storyline where the gay guy sacrifices his happiness for that of a nominally straight guy. How are they going to turn this around? I believe this is just a 10-episode series, and we’re already on episode seven!
The show is also implying that something bad might happen to Chai’s mom, as she continues to drink at a level that worries her son. Chai is also revealed to be setting aside money for something, but I can’t think of anything being hinted at in the past few episodes. Once again, we’ve only got three episodes left! Couldn’t they have hinted at this earlier?
Over at Nut’s house, Nut asks if he did the right thing, and that either means he’s worried if being with Lin is the right thing, or if rejecting her was the right decision. We don’t find out the next day either, because the focus shifts to Chai, who’s tired and distracted because he’s still playing at the bar to earn money, while also practicing with the guys for the competition. Being the bottom that he is, Aek worries about Chai’s condition, but Chai reassures him that everything’s fine.
It’s not just Chai that gets asked about his condition, though, because Nut asks Win why he hasn’t made him stir-fried vegetables over the past few days. He makes some lame excuse, but he doesn’t know that Lin is listening in on their conversation. What is going on?
The tension spills into the band practice the next day, where Win picks on Aek, and Chai comes to Aek’s defense because that’s his bottom. Nut’s tumor also acts up, and when Chai points out that Win doesn’t scold Nut like he does him and Aek, the tension finally explodes and Win says some very hurtful things to Chai. Even worse, Aek and Nut go to talk to Chai and not Win.
The next day, Nut is waiting for Win at school with a packed lunch, and now it’s clear that he rejected Lin, and he’s trying to nut inside win over Win. Nut even tells Win he’ll practice cooking his favorite dish, but since Win is not the sharpest tool in the shed, he doesn’t catch on to what Nut is trying to say.
While that’s happening, we find out why Chai’s been saving up money. He’s planning to buy his mom’s necklace back, because it looks like she pawned it to bail him out of jail. Aek offers to give him the rest of the money, but Chai’s too much of a top to just let that happen and tells Aek that they should just buy the necklace together and then eat each other out mu kratha afterwards.
Now we head on over to sapphic yearning, as Biu tiptoes around telling Lin that he likes her at the photo exhibit that literally has so many pictures of Lin. When Biu finally does it, she’s shot down, and we find out that Lin is already dating Nut. So what was all that with Win then? What is going on?
Speaking of Win and Nut, they’re still running and in a ridiculous turn of events that would have fit in well within a K-drama, Nut ends up in Win’s arms. But you’re already dating Lin, Nut! Why are you flaunting all this foolishness?
At the band practice, it’s now Biu and Win’s time to fight as Biu thinks Win purposely didn’t tell her that Lin and Nut are already dating, making her look like a fool. And Biu isn’t wrong either, because Win could have told her that Lin was planning to confess to Nut. Win runs after Biu, Nut runs after Win, and Lin is left alone with Chai and Aek who ask her what the hell is happening?
What’s happening is that Nut faints running after Win, and Win immediately forgets about running after Biu and takes Nut back to his home. He tells Nut’s mom that she should probably take Nut to a doctor, which she says she’ll do if Nut still doesn’t feel better after waking up. But of course Nut’s going to say he feels better, and once again I feel like Nut is still going to die.
After Nut tells them that they’re going to have to practice without him, Win and Lin take a walk and Lin tells Win — say all of that five times fast — that she knows he likes Nut. Win tells Lin that it doesn’t matter whether he likes Nut or not — say all of that five times fast — because Lin and Nut are already dating, and their parents want them to get engaged.
Elsewhere, Chai’s finally gotten his mother’s necklace back, but that celebration is cut short because wouldn’t you know it, Chai’s former gang and the gang they were beefing with before happen to just be in the area and are fighting. Chai joins in despite Aek not wanting him to, which ends with Aek getting involved as well and getting conked on the head.
Aek ends up in the hospital, so of course his rich parents are not happy and think this is all because he got involved with the Rough Trade Service Top on the wrong side of the tracks. Chai is so sad about it that he doesn’t even get to give his mom the necklace he worked so hard for.
Because of the trouble Aek got into, his rich parents aren’t allowing the band to practice in their house anymore. But as Win points out, it’s not like any of them are in good shape to practice anyway. With just three episodes left, how is all of this going to be resolved?
