Ron Watches Drag Race España Season 5 Episode 2

It was a really good first episode of the new season of Drag Race España last week! Let’s get right into this new episode to see if it continues on.

With no one sent home last week, the queens are feeling cheerful when they return to the Werk Room. The queens are realistic about what lies ahead though. They think that there’s going to be a double elimination down the line, and with no one leaving half a heart after the end of the previous episode, someone is definitely going home.

The next day, the Supremme…Mail? is in Old Castillan, which even the Spanish queens have a hard time understanding, so don’t even expect me to get it. The queens have no idea what this week’s challenge is, but Supremme makes it clear soon enough.

BUT FIRST, the mini challenge! The queens are asked to pair up and do that thing where the other person is the hands for the other person. I KNOW THAT IS A HORRIBLE WAY TO DESCRIBE IT.

Kinda like this, but with hands!

The mini challenge, through no fault of its own, makes me uncomfortable. I wanna make it clear that I’m the problem, not the challenge itself! It’s just that as I’ve grown older and have had to budget my own money, I’m no longer as sold on things where the food is wasted. Also, the ice cream flavor they choose for the first pair of queens just looked like poo on their faces, and I’m just not into that.

Anyways, La Escándalo and Ferrxn win the mini challenge and get some skincare! They also get to assign the roles for the acting Maxi Challenge, and Dafne already doesn’t trust them one bit. As the queens read through the script, Satin says she doesn’t a part that has too many lines, which already marks her for a bottom placement this episode. I don’t think she’ll get eliminated, but this is probably her ~humbling~ episode.

La Escándalo and Ferrxn hand out the roles, and it looks like the conflict this episode will be coming from Dafne and Nori, who do not get the roles that they want for the challenge. And they’re also two of the younger queens, so I wonder if that’s also going to be a season-long story arc.

Nix and Alexandara shoot their scenes first, and it looks funny! Los Javis also look like they’re having fun, so maybe Nix and Alexandra are safe this episode. Denébol, Eva, Satin, and Laca Udilla are up next, and let’s just say that they are not as well received as Nix and Alexandra. I can’t say if they’re the bottom queens just yet, as there are other queens still to start filming. Satin looks especially vulnerable, and I really think that this is the episode where she lands in the bottom.

I do want to note here that Los Javis seem like absolute sweethearts as directors, truly helping to calm down Satin’s nerves, and even letting her run through the script again. The American girls don’t get this treatment over at the main show!

In fact, it looks like the veteran queens are going to be on the chopping block today, as Krystal Forever also struggles in the acting challenge. Struggles even worse than Satin, so maybe she’s the one going home this week. Nori also has a not so great time during the challenge, but I don’t think she’ll be lip syncing this episode. I think it’s going to be between Satin and Krystal.

The next day, Nori makes it clear in the Werk Room that she was not happy with the role that she got, but it doesn’t escalate to a full-blown fight. I also thought that Krystal would say something, but it either was edited out — I doubt — or she’s too worried about her performance to complain.

As they’re getting ready for the runway, Krystal talks about her husband of seven years, which is just a grim omen of what might end up happening in the show. Production is sharing her story now, because she’s going home now.

We also hear about Margarita’s homophobic father, who wouldn’t let her eat because she’s gay. As someone who constantly stuffs my face, that is so fucked up of Margarita’s dad.

The runway theme this episode is Javivision, and it’s references from the shows Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi have either produced or directed. And I gotta say, all the outfits made me want to check out the shows they’re referencing! We also get Alexandra’s wig falling as she portrays Veneno, and my goodness. Has that ever happened dring a runway? It’s happened plenty of times in a lip sync, but I can’t recall that happening during a runway.

La Escándalao, Ferrxn, Denébola, Dafne, Eva, and Laca are safe this episode, and from the judges’ critiques, it looks like Nori and Krystal are the ones lip syncing. I thought it would be Satin and Krystal, but Satin gets props for her runway and even gets an ¡Ovah! from Ana Locking for it, saving her from the bottom.

Margartia definitely looks like she’s going to win this challenge, as she gets praised for her acting and gets an ¡Ovah! from Ana Locking as well. Or it could go to Nix, because she gets praised for her acting and runway as well. She doesn’t get an ¡Ovah!, though, which makes me think that it really is Margarita’s win.

Another thing I want to note, and something that Supremme brought up in the previous episode, is that the judging panel really is all about heart this season. They may not be as funny as the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK panel, but they certainly are more compassionate, and that’s a different charm altogether.

Back in the Werk Room, it might actually be Nori going home, as she already says she should pack her bags, even before she’s announced as one of the bottom two. And it turns out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, because she and Krystal end up in the bottom. It’s a win for Margarita, though, so congrats to her!

The lip sync…was uncomfortable, because Nori’s heart really wasn’t in it. I don’t think she mouthed any of the words to the son. The other queens share in the confessional that Krystal doesn’t know the words to the song either, but the way it’s been edited, it looks like she at least tried, unlike Nori.

And Supremme isn’t happy about it! She doesn’t fly into a rage like Ru; it’s more of a disappointed tone like you get from your favorite parent. Los Javis don’t look happy about the performance from either Krystal or Nori either. Krystal stays, which isn’t a surprise.
