It’s the penultimate episode of the series, and quite frankly, I don’t know how they’re going to resolve anything! What was the point of it all if Nut’s still going to die in the end?
We saw in the previous episode that Nut doesn’t give a flying fuck about his health and runs away from the hospital in scrubs. Hospital gown? Whatever it is that they give patients there. He’s doing that fave of old Filipino shows where he’s running on the street in a hospital gown and then stumbles dramatically.
Thanks to a helpful motorcyclist, Nut makes it to the competition. But will he make it out alive? That is the question we should be asking. THEN WE GET A PRODUCT PLACEMENT YESSSS.

Nut reassures Win that he’s fine, and I don’t know why Win still trusts him about this knowing what he know from the original timeline. Is Nut really going to still die? And if he doesn’t, I’m afraid the show hasn’t built it up enough to make it believable.
The band performs, and just like in the original timeline, Nut collapses after the performance. And I can’t with how Win acts shocked about this. YOU CAME FROM THE FUTURE. THIS SHOULDN’T BE A SURPIRSE.
Nut wakes up in the hospital, with his parents and Win beside him. His surgery’s scheduled, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to die yet, but you never know! If the surgery does work, then why didn’t it work in the original timeline? It’s not like Win did anything new involving Nut other than telling him he likes him and making out with him. And don’t tell me that’s all it took to save him, because I am all for suspension of disbelief, but that’s a bridge too far.
While Nut prepares for that, the rest of the show’s couples are dealing with their own things. Chai is unsure if he and Aek will ever get to meet each other again, now that they don’t have band practice as an excuse. Meanwhile, Biu tries to keep Lin’s spirits up.
Back in the hospital, Nut promises that if he survives the surgery, he’ll come back to Win first. But it’s all up in the air, and we don’t know if it’s going to happen for him at all. It’s not looking good, at least from Win’s perspective, because he’s asking his dad how he let go of their mom when he knew she was done for.
The next day in school, Biu asks if Win thinks Nut is going to survive in this timeline, and Win admits that he’s not sure. BUT, he’s happy that he at least got to do what he wanted to do back then now. Which I think is stupid, because maybe you should have just gone to therapy to get over your hang-ups. If you’re going to go through the trouble of traveling through time, at least change the outcome, especially since this is a romance? Or at least that was what it marketed itself to be?
Meanwhile, without his Rough Trade Service Top, Aek is feeling out of sorts. His parents tell him that they can talk with them about anything, which has mostly been true for most of the series. But being gay might be the bridge too far.
Over at Chai’s home, his mom’s fine with the gay stuff, but she just thinks that Aek and Chai are too far from each other economically. Which is fair! It’s an old study that I can’t find anymore because I first heard about it when I was literally in my late teens, but marrying up economically is actually harder to do, at least in a homogenous society.
And wouldn’t you know it, Nut survives the surgery. How? Because Win caught him before his head hit the ground, and because Win’s been feeding him healthy food and exercising with him. Girl, if that was all it took to survive a tumor? It’s a stretch, but fine. Then they make out again and I can’t even enjoy it.
Back in Nut’s home, his father is still insisting that he fly to England to get an education, but this time with a smile on his face. I mean, his son did almost die. Win, not wanting to rock the boat, says that Nut will need to do it as early as possible, just like Nut’s dad said. Also we find out that they lost the competition, which is fine, at least Nut’s alive. Win some, lose some.
Meanwhile, Aek comes out to his family, and props to them for saying that they already knew. They’re also fine with Aek meeting up with Chai again! I half expect them to hand him some lube and condoms and tell him to get on prep or whatever. All they ask is that he doesn’t get involved in ~unsavory activities~. But then, it’s Chai that rebuffs him. Come on, it is way too late in the show for Chai to be insecure about his economic status. We’ve only got an episode left!
Meanwhile, Win is whining to Biu, telling her that the outcome remains the same, which is stupid, because NUT IS ALIVE. That’s a pretty big difference from the original timeline? He’s just studying in England! You can’t wait for him? Maybe it’s your affections that were fake, after all.
Over at the ice cream…shop? restaurant? parlor! Lin tells Biu that she’ll be in school until the 12th grade, so Biu won’t be lonely, and Biu is like WAT. Biu, baby, don’t let the straight girl seduce you. You’ll only get your heart broken.
While the lesbian is being BAMBOOZLED by the straight girl, Win confronts Nut’s dad. And it’s a pretty useless conversation, because Nut’s dad is firm in not letting him play music and keeping him away from Win and the gang. He tells Win to stop dreaming about being a musician, since it’s a path that leads to nowhere, and you can’t blame him! But I think actively preventing your child from pursuing it is just going to breed resentment and rebellion.
ESPECIALLY now that we’re sprung a bit of good news. Win’s band didn’t win, but they got an offer from a label to release a tape! However, will Nut’s father agree to this, since technically, their agreement says Nut and the band need to win the competition.
