It’s the penultimate episode! Can’t believe it’s almost over, and that the Philippine production was able to mostly pull this off! Congrats!
We finally got the final four in the previous episode, after Viñas Deluxe sent Khianna home. It’s Viñas, Brigiding, Arizona Brandy, and Suki nearing the finish line, and it’s exciting to see who’s going to be the first Slaysian Royale winner.
Back in the Werk Room, Suki is feeling good after finally winning her first RuBadge. She even got emotional about it, although not a full-on bawl like Arizona seems to have done for most of the season. She does point out that she’s the only international queen left, and if the Filipina queens decide to gang up on her, she’s not going to take that lying down.
The next day, Brigiding is the acknowledged frontrunner of the competition, while Arizona feels proud that she’s seen as a threat now and no longer just a funny queen. And Suki is the acknowledged mother and probably the Miss Congeniality of the season.
Mama Pao finally enters the Werk Room and tells the queens that there’s going to be a boodle fight first where they’ll get to have a talk with Pao and Kaladkaren. Then they’re going to head to the mini challenge for this episode, which is the Yin and Yang photoshoot, a black and white shoot where the queens won’t wear wigs or make-up.
I don’t think there’s anything particularly revealing about the queens’ interviews during the boodle fight, although I do love the fact that the queens actually eat something instead of a TicTac. I get the TicTac joke, but I also want the queens to just literally eat! Viñas wins the mini challenge after, and aside from the cash tip, gets to subtract two minutes from the shooting time of a queen for their Maxi Challenge, which is filming a music video to the song “High Time” by Reyn4. Reyn4 being Captivating Katkat, Marina Summers, Maxie, and Precious Paula Nicole. It’s a World of Wonder-produced group!
Listen to the song here!
Aside from filming the music video, the queens will have to walk the runway dressed to the theme “Award Giving Body-yodi-yodi-yodies!”
Suki Doll isn’t exactly enthused as this is the first time that she’s getting to do the girl group challenge, and she doesn’t exactly shine in the recording either. But at least, Suki isn’t alone with the less than stellar feedback, because Brigiding and Viñas both get critiqued as well. Reyn4 does give actual advice though, which is good! Especially Marina and Maxie, who really zero in on the smallest details.
When it comes to the choreography, it’s Suki who really has trouble among the four, which really just marks her for the bottom. She doesn’t do really well during the shoot either. Are we going to have an all-Filipino finale? The international fans are already complaining about ~favoritism~.
But Viñas could just as easily be in the bottom as well! She forgets her words and her moves during the music video shoot, and she’s already had to lip sync twice before. It may just be two Filipina queens and an international queen in the finale!
Now we get to see the music video! Check it out below!
Got to be honest, the sound has got to be better. Come on guys, you’ve been doing this for five years. And we’ve got international visitors! International viewers! That said, I think this is more musical than some of the Drag Race songs we’ve seen. If only the sound was better. I also think all four of them did okay, so maybe they’re going to be critiqued about the process? The runway?
If the runway is going to play a bigger part, then Suki definitely has a better chance of staying since hers was the best one out of the bunch, I think. Viñas is next. I thought Arizona and Brigiding’s outfits were forgettable, to be honest.
The queens also get asked about why they should be the winner of the show and…well, I’ve never liked this part of the show, whatever franchise it may be. I’m sure the queens are all very sincere in what they’re saying, but I really just don’t like when the different Drag Race franchises do this.
After a nice time with Reyn4 backstage, the queens go back to the Werk Room, where Brigiding is announced as the winner of this week’s Maxi Challenge. I guess the final winner is all but decided now, since she’s the queen with the most badges. Arizona joins her in the finale, so I guess it’s Suki and Viñas doing the lip sync this episode.
The lip sync starts, and I think Suki underestimated Viñas capacity to lip sync to a slow song, since all she’s seen of her is doing all these energetic numbers. I think it’s the correct decision to send Viñas to the finale. But to also send Suki to the finale is a great decision! We have a top four in the finale!
This is a new addition to the posts, but if any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
