The previous episode of Drag Race España saw Krystal Forever, the villain of at least half the season, get sent home by Alexandra. Who’s going to stir up trouble now?Let’s find out!
Alexandra is happy she got to stay, and there’s no love lost between her and Krystal. Margarita is also happy Krystal left. Is there even anyone who’s going to miss her? Dafne says that Krystal was just putting up a tough exterior, but Margarita says that Krystal should have been perceptive enough to see that her tough exterior was already hurting people.
From there, the discussion goes to the half a heart that Krystal is leaving behind. Is she going to leave it to Satin? But if she does, that’s still half a heart, meaning no one’s getting saved this episode. Let’s see!
The next day in the Werk Room, the queens start talking about wins, and it appears the only ones who haven’t gotten the cash prize yet is Ferrxn, Alexandra, and Nix. So…next three to go home? I kid. Nix points out in her confessional that Nix has at least been in the top, and how everything’s that gone down has made her feel like she’s the worst.
That conversation is cut short as Supremme walks in and announces this week’s mini challenge, which is coming up with a full make-up look with just one Krash Kosmetics product. I’m not a make-up girlie, but I already know that is difficult. And they have to do it in five minutes!
Dafne wins the challenge, and to be fair, she does look great! She wins a Krash Kosmetics bundle, and she also gets to assign the roles for the musical, which is titled “You’re Driving Me Lorca”. I am guessing it’s going to use the poems of Federico Garcia Lorca? That’s the only Lorca that comes to mind!
And it’s not Lorca poems, because I am an uncultured swine and didn’t remember that Lorca also wrote plays. The queens are adapting The House of Bernarda Alba, and can I just say this is already theoretically better than some of the musicals from the American Drag Race?
Dafne distributes the roles, and it’s Laca and Ferrxn who don’t get what they want. There’s also some shadiness there with Nix, as Dafne explains she gave her the role of Poncia because she think’s Nix is going to fuck it up and go home this episode. Is this foreshadowing?
But that bottom placement might just be for Ferrxn, because her bragging about her skills in the confessional is just tempting production to humble her. Laca is also whining about getting the worst part, and I can already see the judges saying that there are no small parts, just small actors.
We start rehearsing and…Nix, baby. It’s a musical. Of course there’s going to be choreo. What are we doing here, babe? Alexandra, after getting the role she wanted, also starts fumbling when it comes to learning the choreography. LIKE. Ladies. If you know that you’re not the best dancer, pick the role that you can be strong in! Don’t just pick the attention-grabbing role when you know you don’t have the skills. You’ll end up getting negative attention.
Also, I swear they didn’t hint at this before, but does Dafne and Ferrxn have beef with Nix? Why are they so intent on getting her out? They’re either going to succeed, or production will use this to craft a Rudemption storyline for Nix in this episode.
As the queens prepare for the musical, we get to hear about Satin and Alexandra’s early life. We find out that her and Alexandra’s moms were both drug addicts. We find out that it was season freaking seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race that got Alexandra into drag. Who’d have thought?
While Satin and Alexandra are talking about their pasts, the other queens are talking about their future. Dafne wants to take her drag to theaters, while Margarita shares the pushback she and her group has encountered for running a drag story hour.
The Rusical starts and I gotta say, best one I’ve seen this year! It would have been better if they included translations of the lyrics, because the very, very, very, very little that I could understand seemed funny. I didn’t think any of the queens did badly at all!
The runway theme is Blood Wedding, and this is all up Denébola’s alley. And while I initially liked Alexandra’s outfit, it does seem like an obvious interpretation once Denébola walks in. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does not help you stand out from the other queens.
Margarita Kalifata and Dafne Mugler are the safe queens this episode. Supremme does say that everyone did so well today and no one slipped up, so they will be picking on the littlest things, I’m guessing.
Once the critiques start, Alexandra gets the same critique from Snatch Game, where her look stands out but her performance in the challenge was lacking. But at least she wasn’t as bad as she was in Snatch Game! Satin looks like she’s gunning for another win, while Denébola gets basically the same critique as Alexandra.
Nix, like I said, gets a Rudemption and might just be on the top with Satin. Laca is staring at a bottom placement, and now that they bring it up, she really was not that memorable in the Rusical. Ferrxn, on the other hand, gets praise, even though she didn’t get the role she wanted like Laca.
The queens come back after judges’ deliberation, and Nix wins this episode! The Rudemption is complete! Alexandra, Denébola, and Laca are in the bottom, and none of them are saved since Krystal gave her half heart to Satin, who doesn’t have a have to pair with it. It’s the judges who decide which of the three is going to be saved, and the lucky queen is Laca.
The lip sync starts and I think they were pretty well-matched? I’d maybe give Alexandra a slight edge, but I don’t think Denébola was a pushover. And I guess the judges agree with me, because it’s Alexandra who stays. Denébola ends up crying on stage as she leaves, but it’s not a Mirage-level breakdown. But it does get the judges crying!
