The previous episode of Drag Race España saw Denébola sashaying away, and now we’re edging closer and closer to the finale. Who’s going to be Spain’s next drag superstar? Let’s find out!
After sending another queen home, I think Alexandra can justly call herself this season’s lip sync assassin. Ferrxn, on the other hand, is frustrated that she still hasn’t gotten a win, especially now that we’re close to the end. Dafne, meanwhile, is worried because she’s never been in the bottom and the other queens are just waiting.
The next day, Alexandra admits that being put in the bottom twice is messing with her head, and it should! Because the next time you get sent there, you’re definitely going home. But aside from sharing that, she also shares that she feels unappreciated by Laca and some of the other girls, and that it’s only Satin who’s there for her. Oh, girl.
Dafne is not amused by Alexandra’s…I guess you could call it an outburst? But she only says that in the confessional. Laca, on the other hand, tells Alexandra that she doesn’t have to be mad at her because she got saved. That’s not her fault. Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful, hate her because she’s an immigrant!
Eventually, Dafne does say what she said in the confessional to Alexandra’s face, and Nix is the one who really smooths things over because she has been in the bottom a lot of times and now she’s just had a win, so she understands where Alexandra’s coming from when it comes to being unappreciated and frustrated by her own performance.
Supremme walks in and explains that the queens will be making watermelon portraits of their fellow queens for this week’s mini challenge. Trixie Mattel even gets a mention, because that’s who Ferrxn thinks Alexandra made, and not her.
Anyways, the queens present their watermelons, and it’s Nix who wins the challenge, because that watermelon really couldn’t have been anyone else but Laca. She gets to determine the groups in this week’s Maxi Challenge, which is an improv challenge involving real estate? Is it going to be like Club 96?
The groups are Nix, Margarita, and Ferrxn; Alexandra and Satin, and Laca and Dafne. Alexandra and Satin are going to be cats, if I’m understanding it correctly, while Laca and Dafne are going to be like Christine Quinn from Selling Sunset. Nix’s group are going to be sisters, which is something we only find out when Supremme enters for the walkthrough together with this week’s very special guest judge, Abril Zamora.
Here’s another thing I really like about Drag Race España: the walkthroughs actually help. Abril and Supremme give really great advice to the teams that looks like it will really help them during the challenge and not just throw them for a loop.
Satin and Alexandra are first to hawk their apartment and…well, the apartment is less than ideal. And they have to sell it to Pupi Poisson! The improve is…well, there’s a lot of talking over each other, which Abril already warned them about during the walkthrough. I guess it’s time to say ¡Adios! to Alexandra then! Even she feels that she wasn’t able to do much, since Satin was hogging all the air time. Airtime?!?
Nix, Margarita, and Ferrxn are up next, and they’re selling the apartment to Hornella Góngora! And Nix’s group is…well, like Supremme and Abril said, they’re not listening to each other. Just like Satin’s group, although Satin’s group ends up looking better because Satin is just a force of nature.
Laca and Dafne are the last to go and they’re selling to Shani La Santa, the Season 4 Porkchop! And, well, I think Satin is the only one safe this week, because Laca and Dafne are only marginally better than Nix’s group. Are they all going to lip sync then?
The next day, the queens read letters from family and friends that they’ve brought with them to the competition, and its a little emotion get-together as they look at the things they’ve brought. I was particularly touched by Dafne’s story, because her mother hasn’t been able to speak since they found a tumor in her head two years ago. That’s always going to get me, sorry.
The runway theme this episode is Spanish playing cards, which I didn’t know existed! Or I knew of them, but not as Spanish playing cards, I knew it as sakla! Anyways, the first to walk out is Satin, and I like her look. Alexandra is next and while I like the look, the face is not face-ing, so to speak. Nix’s look is also great.
The judges critiques start and the queens are going to be judged individually, so Alexandra may just have to lip sync yet again. She and Satin are up next and as expected, Satin gets props, although Ana Locking tells Satin that she wants to see her in a different silhoutte. And no offense to Michelle Visage, but I believe Ana Locking more when she says she wants to see me in a different sihoutte.
As for Nix’s group, it looks like it’s going to be Ferrxn that’s going to be in the bottom. She hasn’t even won a badge yet! I think? Sorry, I forget. It looks like Laca will also be in the bottom, since both her performance and outfit were critiqued, although Dafne didn’t exactly get glowing marks for her performance either.
Once the queens return back to the runway, it’s Satin who gets announced as the winner, which I think makes her the frontrunner at this point? Nix, Margarita Kalifata, and Dafne Mugler are safe, leaving Alexandra, Ferrxn, and Laca in the bottom. Laca gets Denébola’s heart, making this Alexandra’s farewell lip sync, I guess.
But then the lip sync starts and…I’m sorry, but Alexandra is eating once again. She truly is this season’s lip sync assassin, whatever the result of this is. And Alexandra wins once again!
