Ron Watches Drag Race España Season 5 Episode 8

Alexandra sent Ferrxn home in the previous episode of Drag Race España, and now we’re getting closer and closer to the finale. Who’s going to be Spain’s next drag superstar? Let’s find out!

The other queens may have questioned her claim of being the lip sync assassin, but after sending yet another queen home, Alexandra has definitely earned the title. But for the moment, the queens are celebrating Satin’s second win, which makes her the frontrunner. The conversation then shifts to who Ferrxn has left her heart, which could be any of the queens.

The next day, the hint for the Maxi Challenge is about…a will? That’s what it sounded like to me. Is it another improv challenge? But before we get an explanation for that, Supremme tells the queens that the mini challenge is telling each other what they really think, but through voting, like in the second episode of this current season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

The mini challenge gets a few giggles for me, especially with Satin not knowing what delulu is. Dafne wins the challenge and €500, as well as determining the order of the roast, which is the Maxi Challenge for this episode. I thought this would take longer within the show, especially since Dafne’s said that she doesn’t want to be mean, but she got that order pretty quick, with Nix sandwiched between Satin and Margarita. I think this is her definitely being mean, because she’s wanted Nix to go home since episode six.

The rehearsals start and Laca already has her idea of staging a coup shut down, because Supremme really does have a point. How does that make sense when the premise is you’re making your last will and testament at the notary? The other queens also get notes — helpful ones — but it’s only Margarita and Alexandra who gets an actual laugh. One of them’s either going to win this challenge or be sent home. Dafne also decides to re-do her whole set, which might just mean she’ll get a taste of the bottom and get her moment of vulnerability this season. I don’t think they plan on sending her home.

The next day as they prepare for the roast and the runway, Laca opens up to Nix about her eating disorder, which leads to Nix opening about her eating disorder. I have my own issues with my body, and while I’ve never had an eating disorder, I can relate with some of the insecurities they talk about. It’s hard out there, especially when people in the gay community can be hypercritical and really cutting.

The runway theme this episode is Dressed to Die, although I don’t know if they’re doing the runway before or after the roast. ANDDDDD maybe I should have just waited to see what they would do because the roast starts, and now I look stupid. There’s an audience for the roast, and maybe it’s just me being senile, but I think this is the first time this has happened on Drag Race España? Maybe not.

The roast starts, and I don’t know enough about Spanish history to get the nuances of Laca’s roast. It seemed like the judges liked it, though! Satin’s jokes were broad enough for me to get it and find it funny. Even the judges and the other queens were cackling! Which really fucked Nix’s set up because everyone was just awkwardly laughing. Reading the subtitles, it doesn’t seem like the jokes are offensive, but maybe just like during the rehearsals, it’s her delivery that’s causing these jokes to not land.

But I don’t think this is going to be another win for Satin, because I think Margarita really aced her set. That was funny, even in the subtitles! I also thought Alexandra’s jokes were funny, but I can see where they may have crossed the line. Also, I want everyone to keep in mind that I have to read the jokes in the subtitles, and I don’t get the nuances in the delivery that actual Spanish speakers can catch. Dafne doesn’t do any better, because at least Alexandra got a laugh at the start of her set.

The runway starts and my personal faves are Laca and Satin’s outfits. Maybe Margarita’s as well. I think the ones that had the least impact were Alexandra and Nix’s, because it wasn’t grotesque enough, if that makes sense.

During the critiques, it’s pretty clear that Alexandra, Nix, and Dafne are the bottom queens, but Supremme notches up the drama by asking all of them which one they think should go home. Alexandra gets the most votes, with Dafne being the queen who outright comes for her by saying that it should have been Ferrxn who stayed and not her.

Back at the Werk Room, we get to see the queens be two-faced bitches. I mean, what they’re saying to each other’s faces is different from what they’re saying in the confessionals! That’s the definition of being two-faced bitches! Alexandra also is hoping not to be saved by a heart because she’s looking to send home Alexandra herself. Spicy.

The queens return to the runway, and Margarita wins this week’s challenge. It’s her and Satin at the front of the pack! Satin is also the one who gets the last heart of the competition, so now she has to decide which one between Alexandra, Nix, and Dafne she’s going to save. And she chooses Nix…because she’s the weakest of the three. She is not just mother, she is the drama.

I don’t want to make another prediction and say Alexandra is going home because look what that got me in the previous episode. But I really don’t think production is going to send home Dafne! I really don’t!

Dafne does indeed stay, but to be fair to her, she really did hold her own against Alexandra. More than hold her own, even! That back bend thingy? My spine hurts!

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
