Ron Watches Semantic Error Episode 1

Okay, I know I’m coming to this three or even four years late since the posts are going to get all the way into 2026, but I’m a busy guy, okay? I’m finally sitting down to watch this now, so let’s get into it!

First off, I didn’t know that the episodes would be this short. Just 15 minutes or so, essentially. I was preparing for a whole 40-minute thing. At the start of the show, we’re immediately given a look into our two protagonists, who are of course, opposites of one another. And they do not have a meet-cute. Or at least, they are not cute to each other when they meet. Serious Boy is not impressed at all by Tall Boy with Piercings, who we find out is named Jaeyeong.

And it looks like Jaeyeong isn’t going to graduate, because Serious Boy, who is named Sangwoo, went on a rant about freeloaders in the university and named and shamed them in front of the professor, who then failed all the freeloaders — which includes Jaeyeong.

Of course, Jaeyeong doesn’t want to spend any more time in school and I absolutely hear you on that, Jaeyeong. His next course of action is to look for Sangwoo, and the show gets to make a little jokey-joke about how Computer Science students dress alike. Unfortunately for him, Sangwoo’s already left and is ignoring all the freeloaders messaging him and complaining.

Sangwoo’s meeting with another side character he’s supposed to work with on what I assume is a school project, but that nameless character’s got a job offer and can’t do it with him anymore. She does offer to find a replacement, and what do you know, Sangwoo’s looking to work with Jaeyeong. Does he know he’s one of the freeloaders he named? Sangwoo’s gets told that Jaeyeong is about to go to the States to study, so he probably won’t be able to work with him. But now that he’s failed a subject thanks to Sangwoo, can he still go to the States? Is this going to be the ~There was only one bed~ of the show?

Lucky for Sangwoo, Jaeyeong is also looking for him, even putting up wanted posters all over the school. Or maybe it’s unlucky for him, because he tries to be even more inconspicuous as possible after finding out that Jaeyeong is on the hunt for him.

It’s not just Jaeyeon tough, as another computer science student, Jihye, has been watching Sangwoo. She wants to be friends with him, and then gives him money for the vending machine? Their previous interaction was him giving her ₩800, and I think Sangwoo has already relegated her to “Change Lady”. She also hands him the wanted posters Jaeyeong has made, which also includes Jaeyeong numbers and allows Sangwoo to look through the messages he’s been receiving from angry seniors.

Elsewhere in…is this Seoul? I’ll assume it’s in Seoul unless otherwise stated. Jaeyeong is looking for a new place, since he’s not graduating anymore and has to stay in school for another six months. Or at least that’s what I thought it was, but it’s only just now that Jaeyeong gets the message that he’s not graduating. Huh.

Jaeyeong hangs out with his friends after that news, and all of them are consoling him and telling him that he can just use the remaining time to chill as he’s only got this one subject to work on. In walks nameless character from before, who lets Jaeyeong know that Sangwoo likes his work and wants to work with him on a project. Of course, Jaeyeong jumps on the chance.

Jaeyeong is late during their first meeting because he’s taking his sweet time to get to their meeting place, which of course gets anal-retentive Sangwoo worried. And he gets even more flustered when Jaeyeong finally arrives and gets in his face to tell him that he didn’t expect him to be handsome. After some playful ribbing, Jaeyeong shows Sangwoo what he can do, and then reveals that he’s one of the freeloaders Sangwoo’s blocked. Exciting!

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!

  1. […] and Sangwoo finally met in the previous episode, so now we just need to sit back and relax and see how things percolate between these two. […]
