Ron Watches Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 3

Before this started airing, the plan was to blog about it as it aired, but it’s hard being an adult, you guys. I’ve got to take care of a bunch of other things, and by the time I’ve got free time, I’m too tired to keep my eyes open. But I always try my best to catch up!

Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson are off to go on their quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece at the end of the last episode, thanks to Tantalus’ meddling. So what are they going to be up to this time around?

We’re back at camp at the start of this episode, where we see Clarisse getting ready to talk to the Oracle. And it doesn’t sound like things are going to end well for her, as the Oracle just told her that she’s going to fail entombed in stone. That sounds like a crypt to me! But with Annabeth gone, she has to pick another camper to go with her on her quest and she better pick someone good.

Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson finally manage to get on the pretty tame cruise ship that Hermes directed them to go, and once they’re in their room, Percy tries to find a way around what he’s not supposed to know. But before he and Annabeth can come to an agreement, Tyson lets them know that there are monsters with an s on the cruise ship that they’re on.

Meanwhile, Clarisse has decided that it’s best for her to be a one-woman army, but she’s not going on the quest alone. Ares has come to provide her not just with a warship, but soldiers raised from the dead. It also looks like Ares knows what the Oracle told Clarisse, and he doesn’t want that to happen.

Back on the cruise ship, Annabeth starts to suspect that something is off about their mode of transportation, and it becomes clear to the audience once they encounter Allison Simms, who we saw in the first episode. This is maybe Luke’s ship, or he and his allies are also on the ship. It’s a good thing that Percy remembers the dream he had with Grover in it, because they avoid falling into a trap and only have to battle Allison by herself. Allison gets thrown off the ship, and with Allison’s stuff with them, they find out that this is actually Kronos’ ship.

Over at Clarisse’s ship, she’s not getting a lot of traction with the undead warriors, as they don’t really respect her. But it’s not like Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson are doing any better over at the cruise ship, as it seems like what Percy isn’t supposed to know involves Luke. But Percy and Annabeth still manage to come to a compromise and come up with a plan to capture Luke.

That’s not going to be easy though, as Allison survives her fall from the ship and immediately gets the jump on the three of them, which they only find out because Tyson is listening in on the conversation. It’s a good think Luke doesn’t want them killed because he has to do that villain thing of explaining his plan to the hero of the story. It’s a good thing that Tyson was there to make a bomb to get them out of that sticky situation.

Clarisse has also found her footing on her own metal boat, rallying her undead soldiers by telling the soldiers that this is their chance to actually be winners for once and get to the Elysian Fields. She also realizes that Percy was right when he said that the coordinates Tantalus gave were wrong.

Realizations are also being had on the life boat that Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson escaped on. The encounter with Luke had Annabeth shook, and she decides to let Percy know about what’s in store for him. The prophecy says that a child of either Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades will decide if the time of the gods will continue on, and that single choice will be made once that child turns 16.
