Ron Watches Are You Sure? Season 2 Episode 7

Let’s get down to business because I’m way behind!

The guys ended their time in Switzerland in the previous episode, and now they’re off to a new destination. And that destination? Vietnam! Specifically, Da Nang, where Jet from The Wicked Game was exiled to.

In case people don’t remember Jet.

Looks like Jimin has been hankering to visit Southeast Asia, specifically Vietnam, and I dunno, maybe include the other countries there too? We’ve been waiting for years? ANYWAY. Let’s stop with the bitterness and go into this trip to Da Nang, which looks like it’s going to be full of games since Jungkook asked for it.

They arrive at their accommodations and it’s ~swanky~. And apparently, fully booked for almost all of next year, at least when I looked at it online. Damn. After checking in and washing up, the guys head to a restaurant for lunch and the food. Again, damn. Kinda wanna go out now and eat out! But it turns out that there’s a ton of food on the table because they’re going to have to play for it. Okay! They pass the first three questions of the consonant game they’re playing, and I’m happy they were able to secure the pineapple fried rice because that is delicious, although I’ve only been able to have the one in Singapore and not what they have in Vietnam.

The next game is them trying to guess new slang and we get a replay of Jimin from that Run BTS! episode where he just can’t with young people and their new slang words.

But despite that, they perform better than expected and keep most of the food! Especially the pineapple fried rice. Sorry, I’m really hung up on it and kinda want one right now. I know I’ve repeated this over and over, but the two of them really do eat deliciously.

They have to play yet another game after their lunch, because the market only accepts cash and Jimin didn’t exchange the Swiss francs they had. At stake is 2 million Vietnamese dong, which from previous experience in Vietnam is just an okay amount. If Jimin brought the Swiss francs they had saved, getting it exchanged would probably have gotten them more.

To win the game, they need to guess how much the bill is for their food and the staffs food, and Jimin actually gets the amount right, but chooses to defer to Jungkook instead. But of course, the production isn’t just going to let them go into the market without any money, so they still get 2 million dong via ~currency exchange~ with the staff.

The guys then head to the market — as in a literal Divisoria-type market — where an ARMY recognizes them. And in her defense, I don’t think she mispronounced Jungkook’s name? Maybe it’s just the way Viet people pronounce the J? Any Vietnamese people wanna chime in?

ANYWAYS, Jimin gets to do his dream of haggling with a vendor, even if he almost caved because he got called handsome. And he even gets Jungkook a discount! Now, I have complicated feelings about asking for discounts when you’re at a certain economic level, but Jimin felt bad about asking for it so let’s leave it at that.

Once they get back to their accommodations, they find out that the massage they won in another game is already waiting for them, and boy do I want to get a massage now but the massage place that used to be here closed and I didn’t even get to try it out. The massage does relax them, which is good because they’re back to playing games for food once they return to their villa. And the questions and rules are tougher this time around because Jungkook made a comment that the staff should make them lose at least once and not let them eat. Be careful what you say!

But it looks like the guys are going to win again, especially since the rule is that they have to pick different poses to represent the keywords being given to them. They succeed, and since they are still South Korean men, after all, go for the beer first. The second game…well, they don’t perform as well. Especially Jungkook! I thought it would be Jimin that would falter but I guess I thought wrong!

The staff take pity on them and decide that they should play charades instead, and the guys finally win and get to eat some chicken. However, they start faltering again when they have to act out movie titles for charades and I have to admit to feeling a little frustration at Jimin not doing the ~signature move~ to represent Home Alone. Or maybe he’s just too young to remember it.

The guys don’t recover from it and lose the chance to add another dish, so the staff has them play another game: doing the same actions to represent a given keyword. And they get another beer! They also win fish and chips, and then spend the rest of their time swimming in the pool. Actually, not just swimming, but just play-fighting and making full use of the floaties that makes me want to go on vacation right now.

And then the staff hits them with the ~digital minimalism~. Or at least, attempts to hit them with it, because Jimin scurries off as soon as he hears the words. He manages to escape to his and Jungkook’s room and locks it behind him, but he soon gives it up and the he and Jungkook play yutnori against each other instead. And just like in episode two, I really just do not understand how it’s played. Then they start reviewing their old choreo. Maybe it’s just because I’m an old person, but if someone liberated me from my phone like that, with no consequences to my income, I’d just go to sleep.

The next day, Jungkook wakes up…on the floor? What the hell happened last night? We don’t find out, because the boys need to be at their next destination for their next activity, which is an island-hopping tour. They start snorkeling at their first island, and then paddleboard, and then drop the camera into the sea. It’s a good thing the guide quickly found it for them. Hope they gave a tip!

They then start doing headstands on the paddleboards and honestly? Boys will be boys. They eventually tire themselves out and get back on the boat and drink coconut water, which again, I really think my country really fumbled on.

ANYWAYS, the guys get back in their van and they start watching what I assume is a rookie group on their phones, because Jimin starts saying that they’re uncles now. At least you guys are still in the unc range, because I am an ancient being from the time when the Deep Magic was written.

Their next destination is a restaurant, and just like every step of this trip so far, the guys have to play a game before they can eat their food. This time around it involves calling a friend and have them say a specific word. But in the end, it’s literal family that gets them a dish as it’s Jimin’s dad who picks up and says the required word. In fact, Jimin’s dad seemed to have unlocked their lock, because they breeze through the next few games and get what in my opinion is a decent amount of food.

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
