Ron Reads Ember & Ice Episode 1 by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie

Okay, if you guys have been busy over the past month or whatever, you guys probably haven’t read my Heated Rivalry posts, which basically is just me loving the work that Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie have put into the show. So when I heard that they were doing a Quinn original? Oh baby. Having enjoyed the Manny Jacinto and Jamie Campbell Bower ones, I am so looking forward to listening to this one.

Okay, first thing to note is that this is shorter than the previous Quinn originals. The Manny Jacinto and Jamie Campbell Bower ones were 30 to 40-minute productions, but then again they featured just one person so only one schedule had to be managed. Considering how hot a commodity Hudson and Connor are right now, they had to squeeze this schedule in. Or rather, this is what I typed because I’m stupid and didn’t realize that the one I was listening to at first was just a preview.

ANYWAYS. I appreciate a return to a fantasy world in this one, because I unfortunately could not gel as well with the dystopian sci-fi elements that they did for Manny Jacinto. The sex on that one though? Chef’s kiss. And since he’s been mentioned already anyway, let’s take a look at these pictures I took of Manny Jacinto when he was here in the country for the Freakier Friday premiere.

Hudson is narrating this first episode, playing a warrior fairy prince named Finn who’s had to bear a lot of responsibility since the fairy wars between the Lunare and the Solari tribes five years ago. But before the wars between their tribes, Finn knew of Dane — played by Connor Storrie — the more ~carefree~ character between the two of them. And it’s so nice to hear Connor utilizing his American (?) accent. I don’t know if that’s his Texan accent, but it’s definitely not Russian. I think it sounds stereotypical Californian, but that is only from what mass media has led me to expect a California accent to sound like.

Of course, ~circumstances conspire~ to bring Finn and Dane together. Finn is supposed to teach Dane responsibility, but since when has the straitlaced character succeeded in doing that? Of course, Finn gets to see Dane au naturel and we all get the gift of Hudson saying the words “thick, erect cock”.

And of course these two fairy boys ~unfurl their wings~ with each other as they grow closer, and we get to hear that scream from Connor that anyone who’s obsessively watched any of his interviews know by now. You know that scream. Or that hoot. You know.

Connor saying “Then they’re welcome” when Hudson’s character says someone could see him disrobing? Delicious. Hudson saying “heavy cock” and saying it was perfect? Spectacular. Also how soon after Heated Rivalry aired was this written because they really got that butt description in there.

As we slowly work our way to the sex scene, Connor Storrie starts whispering his lines and listening to this with good headphones? Makes all the money I spent on them worth it. And the actual sex scene? You know what? You know what? It’s more descriptive than both the Manny Jacinto and Jamie Campbell Bower ones, or maybe it only feels that way because there are two voices instead of one.

This particular one also feels a little more romance than the Jamie Campbell Bower one — the Manny Jacinto was definitely not a romance — but I think it’s because there are two voices interacting. Or maybe I’m the only one thinking that. Or I’m still experiencing a Heated Rivalry hangover. The episode ends with a ~bang~ as Finn jacks off at the thought of meeting Dane again in a non-combat situation after five years of war.

With that first episode done, I can say that the world-building is definitely better here than in the Manny Jacinto one, although to be fair, that Manny Jacinto one really took on too big of a challenge with that particular premise. The two of them being in the audio also feels different from the usual Quinn audios, but also personally familiar to me because it feels a lot like a Romance Class live reading event, except with ~Hollywood stars~ and a lot more explicit. All in all, a good listen, and I’m now off to listen to episode two!

If any of you guys like what I do, feel free to leave me a tip!
